When we went to Split (2014 I think) we rented an apartment about 5 or 10 minutes walk from the walled city, but with good views. The first evening was beautiful, and we were enjoying a meal outside a restaurant by the waterfront, the bit you called Miami. Then, like you we heard loud thunder echoing over the hills. Then it got closer... Needless to say, we had to move inside the restaurant to finish our meal. Then it continued to rain in biblical proportions. Thankfully it wasn't cold. So we had to walk home. We were as wet as if we were swimming within 100 metres. No problem. When we got home we just dried off and went to bed! That whole Dalmation coast and all the islands are just fabulous, and the beautiful clear blue sea has to be seen to be believed. (We next did a week's cruise from Trogir to Dubrovnic and back to Trogir. Possibly my best holiday ever.)
Hey Alanna. All praise Artoo!! Those views are stunning and you got to see some really great places. This is the type of old architecture I love to see. I always sleep best in a thunderstorm, rain on the roof is very calming to me. We're just about to get a storm here. It's seconds away as I type. 😀

Split looked amazing, and the story of the Roman Emperor retiring there and then having his palace turned into a church after his death seems so fascinating. The views of the city from the tower were so beautiful, but I would probably fall climbing up those stairs. Although I have never been to Cuba, those bright colored buildings did remind me of Little Havana in Miami. I am glad you guys had a great time on your vacation, and thanks again for taking all of your viewers along with you.
We were in June Split 2019 and the weather was a scorching 30 plus every day for 7 days! The Romans were there on our trip; albeit, charging for the photo's taken of them.
Great vid, ( till 6:25 hate heights and these metal stairs trigger my vertigo, whatcha gonna do hey 🤷♂️ ) Split looks loverly lots of history & architecture, and you didn't need an alarm clock so didn't miss a minute 😂. ok back to Split.
That crypt under the palace is very old, if I remember correctly. From the 2nd century, or thereabouts. It's so long since I was there, 42 years to be exact AND I was only eight(...) so I might misremember or have it confused with some other tidbit from those trips we did back then in the early-to-mid eighties...

I went to Split for a friends wedding and thought it was a beautiful place. Had a little too much wine at the wedding party and was seen bouncing of the walls of the narrow streets on my way home. Next mornings boat ride was very difficult 🤮 but an escort of dolphins got me through that. I would happily go back to Split and I also long to go to Pula to see the incredible Roman amphitheater there. Thanks for the Vlog, very enjoyable.
Sounds like enjoyed Split more, I honestly thought it was a lot like many places in Malta with that walking in history vibe as you mentioned. I stayed out of the city though, nice walk in though.
You're lucky Alanna that you were able to get an Easyjet flight to Croatia. Unfortunately not many people during the week were able to get their Easyjet flights to several places after that wretched airline cancelled many peoples flight with little notice, sometimes even cancelling when passengers arrived at the airport. I was also a victim of their wretched cancellations. I would recommend people in the UK to avoid booking trips to mainland Europe for the summer. I'm expecting it will get worse if nothing radical is done about it.

I'd thoroughly recommend the Hvar Patreon vid as well to anyone who wants the whole set. Now with summer coming you need to get exploring the UK again!!

Hopefully you tasted the local rakija,or brandy. It's rather potent and would make a great taste-testing video. Some of the home-made rakija (which is very cheap) can be very good indeed.
Check out gibraltar if you want Mediterranean and britishness its Britain with sun with low taxes duty free the rock etc nice the first time you go but you can get a bit bored if you stay a long time there it's too small but it's nice to visit

R2D2 has become a Christian! 😂 Split looks great! One month until I can spend 10 hours there... We probs won't have time to do most of this (although, def gonna go find Gregory aka the wizard lol), so I'll have to show this to my family so they know what they missed lol Glad you guys had a great holiday, footage looks amazing!

Split looks a nice place with a bit of history. I've experienced similar short & sharp thunderstorms while abroad but not typical in the UK.
We get them when it's really hot. I'm putting it down to the coast and pennine hills.
