Why Forza Motorsport could Fail...

- The recent details that have been released about the new Forza Motorsport "8", have left some concern over the game turning into a total flop. This video shows why.

To play devils advocate I have a few points to combat your concerns
Car levelling
1. It takes 2-3 hours to fully level a car according to Chris Esaki in the recent forza monthly and im sure players will work out a optimal levelling strategy
2. You level your car across all game mode, so even when mucking around with friends you're still levelling up that car
3. You can sell the parts back for 100% of their cost, so if you wanted to do a new build you can return your current car to stock and build it a different way. Obviously this isn't optimal and would require you to rebuild the car again but you're not forced to start from scratch
Car list
The cars they've announced is intentionally varied to give players an idea of what kinds of cars to expect, there's still 300+ unannounced cars should fill out each classes roster
Racing street cars has always been a big part of forza and Grand turismo for that matter, the race shown in the demo is clearly from the start of the game and im sure you will work your way up through the race car classes later in the game
You make some good points there. Perhaps these will make some of my points less of a problem.

They have removed the Lootboxes and have *confirmed* that there will be No Microtransactions.
In Short, so long as they *do not* do a Horizon and connect the Live Services system up to FOMO mechanics, and instead just make it GT7 Style Free DLC, the Game will actually be *Pro Consumer* , thus making it a must Buy for actually treating the Consumer with Respect!
I think the whole having to buy and build a second car of the same make and model can easily be worked around, simply just have different tunes for each setting and if turn 10 did it right you could seamlessly switch between tunes in a quick and easy manner. Same deal with the paint and decals
What if you are in the lobby and your current build isn't what you want for the track and knowing how laggy forza menu systems are it would be better to have the same car with a different build ready for example in fm7 I had a 02 trans am in A class with a handling build an acceleration build and a speed build
Forza could also make presets for single cars so you dont have to get a new car to drift
That is a good way around it, and I think that will be commonly used as the way around it. But then if you are already in a lobby, and there's the wrong tune on your Car, you'd have to first leave the lobby, then rejoin with the the right Tune on your car. By then, the next Race may have started and it's too late.

@ShadowRacing idk because I haven't play a forza career mode since fm4 I play fm6 career for a bit so I can unlock the cars but that was it I just want to race build and tune
The fact that you have to level up a car is already annoying. The fact that you have to level up a car every time you want to do a build is really bad. 4 hours to level up 1 car, 500 cars, that's 2000 hours to level up cars alone. I don't have 2000 hours on FH5 so... i don't know... it's already grinding and tired enough
I never understand why when showing off the game the person driving has all drivers aids on with driving line and automatic transmission. Never someone that is actually decent at the game. Bring out one of the play testers or get someone from the community to show the game off… it drives me nuts! Thanks for putting around in a Nissan Z
I agree. Also, when it's someone driving so far from the limits, we don't get a proper look at how the physics are working, because there's barely any tyre slip, or suspension compression when you go slowly.
I must confess that this particular progression system does not appeal to me at all. And I say that as a dedicated single player and someone who has desperately wanted proper progression in racing games for years. I can't imagine it's particularly satisfying to drive every single car for hours until it's fully upgraded.
For me, it would have been a good step if they tied progression to driver level and didn't keep giving away so much money and cars for no reason.
I would also have liked to have the brand afinity system back.

So...Are you saying it Will fail, or Could? My guess is it will sell by the bucketload. Let's see who gets it right.
I'm saying it could, not will. It has the potential to be a huge success for sure. I agree it will almost certainly sell by the bucket load, but I don't think that really makes it a success, in itself. The real test will be how alive the player base is, 6 months after it's release.

@@ShadowRacing honestly alot of games fall off it happens with any game especially 6 months because people have played it the freshness has worn off and people are on the next game or "hype" DLC.
I hate the whole leveling cars thing to be honest. I just want to start in in a compact hatchback or something and work my way up to Hypercar eventually. Its a simple way of doing things that has worked many times in the past. I dont need RPG elements in a racing game.

Yeah that's something which really disappoints me. They've been playing this stupid game on the idea of it being built from the ground up, when it's clearly been built in the exact same way.

How do we get the devs to put tag virus back in the proper way, on tracks?
They probably won't do that, because I think FM is going to be a bit too serious for that.
The first 4 Forza Motorsport games had it. Idk if you played it personally. It was the most fun I've had in an online game period, and nothing else has come close.
@@jayfng123 I haven't played the first 4 FM games, but it's worth noting that those were before the days of Forza Horizon, which is what they now use to cater for the casuals. I get the impression that the new Motorsport game will be aimed at a much more hardcore audience, so I don't think the devs would implement a feature like that, unfortunately.
I have very low expectations also for the car list. Like I love track cars and we need more of them but there’s no use for SUVs or off-road buggies or off-road specific trucks. Like give us cars from old games too like older gt cars. Give us icons from our childhoods like the old aston martins alfas Infiniti Hyundai genesis etc etc etc instead of focusing on giving us the newest all electric hyper cars and bs that nobody finds interest in upgrading or driving
To be fair, the off-road Cars are useless in a Motorsport game where all the tracks are asphalt.
true but they are still fun to drive I have always enjoyed racing the 2011 Ford Raptor on forza 6 and 7 and its my favorite truck of all time. I really hope they bring those back in the next forza game.
Forza has always been basic and the teams behind Motorsport and Horizon have always been slow to fix their games. Horizon 5 is still plagued with bugs, missing animations and texture issues. Some of those issues that are listed on their "known issues" page have been there since launch, yet they can't be bothered to fix them.
Yeah I agree. But Forza aren't alone in this. Most modern games are just the same.
horizon is for casuals, Motorsport has always been great.

1:44 I play forza horizon 5 with a steering wheel and it feels great.i have a feeling It will probably feel even better in forza motorsport, I think they stepped up there game from the feel it was in fm7.

Where did you get the horizon 5 greate wheel support? It seems someone between broken, unplayable and wtf is this. Reading online people have stated over and over how bad it is especially against fm7. So after my son and I couldn't get any combination of setting to make a car drivable I fired up fm7 and surprised to find when I thought I had turned my skill down to average that the wheel felt good and pretty realistic and it was after a couple races and just barely winning that I realised I was in the top 1% and it wasn't set on average it was pro. So fm7 on pro I can race as well as I can with a controller but I can feel the road so I think after a couple days I can do better. Forza horizon 5 is completely disconnected from the road you have no feeling or response just the car is pointed straight until its not now your absolutely out of control with nothing to do. It's crazy how bad fh5 is. I got the wheel for my son who plays that and it's useless.

The first point doesn’t work like that as you can transfer your upgrades from one Beetle to another Beetle! Just remove the upgrades and put them on the next car you wanna build. Remember “build not bought” 😅
I don't think that's not how it works though. You'd have to first level up that other beetle, before you can put those upgrades onto it.
they haven't shown anything impressive like actual good wheel gameplay. but if what they have said is true no doubt this game will be amazing despite 90% of "fans" just shitting on for stupid reasons. IF, and if this handles anything like fm7 on wheel I will admit to it being shit but I have optimism that this will be good, How could it not? its a reboot for the mediocre past 3 games, if its bad then well, stick to horizon.
I think this system is better. So many racers online using cheaterboard cars for every race and using slow motion third person on top of that. Hope they have ranked racing with locked cockpit views.
I highly doubt they'd lock you into Cockpit. That'd be wayy too hard core for a Forza game.
@@ShadowRacing That's why I said "ranked racing", players without the skill to race in cockpit won't have the skill to race ranked so it wouldn't be a problem. They already have Horizon for casuals.

@@xboxrules8472 I know. But ultimately, there's more casuals who wouldn't be happy with getting locked into 3rd person, than there are hard core players who would be happy with that. So as good as that could be, I don't see any chance of them doing it.

Yeah, I sorta did.
I still like Forza 4 the best out of all of them with it's upgrade system and selection of cars like Hyundai Tiburons, Chevy Cobalts, Mitsubishi Eclipses, GT 3000, and many more.
I unfortunately haven't had a chance to play FM4, but it certainly looks amazing, and very ahead of it's time.

The game doesn't even look next gen, like AT ALL. Also the other games MS showcased look horrible, even Starfield is underwhelming according to Digital Foundry.
Tbh, it's getting hard to make things like graphics better, because they're already quite realistic.

Have you ever played with low level and high-level AI drivers there's a serious difference. those look low level those don't like crashes but high level like pro don't mind pushing the player off track to be on line
I know, but the difficulty shouldn't effect that. Difficulty should only effect the pace in my opinion. They shouldn't be just giving away places like that.
@ShadowRacing I agree with you but I've noticed this trend in forza games for quite some time. it's why I play with highly skilled to pro drivatars because of the equal pace to aggressiveness ratio
The AI wants to win just as bad as you do lol I've always enjoyed playing on the high level because of that reason. The easiest difficulty was just too easy which makes sense if you don't want the challenge then you lower it lol.

I'd say wait until this comes out, then see what the general reaction is to the game. Decide after that.

This video comes from a Horizon player, not to be trusted with anything Motorsport related.
It's true that my videos are focused on Horizon, but I have played a lot of Forza Motorsport over the years, and I also play a lot of other Motor racing games, such as F1 22, Project Cars, and Assetto Corsa. I have a well founded opinion on what makes a good Racing game and what dosent. So to say I can't be trusted on anything Forza Motorsport related is inaccurate. Even if my perception of the game is very unique.

Tbh, getting the upgrades back dosen't really solve the issue of having to level the Car up to get the upgrades in the first place, but it is a nice thing to have, none the less.
