You know it's not just the sound but the powerbands too. Every V12 in the game has the same shift point... changes to differential or transmission do not affect the sound. In reality even if two cars shared the same engine(MC12, Enzo) they would still sound different from the exhaust lengths, exhaust pipes, power level, transmission and differential gearing, dog gears or not, ect... EVERYTHING sounds the bloody same or has a filter on top...

I remember my journey with this channel. I first started playing racing games seriously with FH3. I fell in love with Horizon. But FH4 is where I really dove in and started playing online with other people. And I remember a video from this channel complaining about the car sounds, and since I didn't know anything about cars and didn't really care about car sounds I argued that most of the cars sounded fine. Because they did to me back then - I didn't really care. But since then I've become obsessed with racing games, with cars, with sim racing, and in particular sim drifting. And I ended up getting and playing most racing games out there, because I love racing games and I love cars, and slowly I realised how much I love the way cars sound. The different way they sound depending on how you drive them, the noises of forced induction, the difference between engine note and exhaust note, between cockpit and chase. The Zonda, the Carrera GT, the LFA, the craziness of rally cars, V10 F1 engines, gear whines, superchargers, turbo flutters...all of that character is part of the car as much as the laser scan that the devs return with. So just getting a 3D model of the car isn't enough if the sounds aren't there, because you've only come back with half the car. Half the car is missing. With those Lambo V12s in this video? They look like modern Lambo V12s, but half the car is missing. Same with the Ferrari V12s. Half the car is missing. And I wanted to say thankyou FLG for documenting this - I didn't used to care, but gradually I realised this is such a crucial part of racing games, and seeing how piss-poor FM8 is in this repsect, how unbelievably shoddy the V12 sounds are, even after six years, well maybe this video might shame the people at Turn 10 into getting their act together. We had to do it to Playground, and to be fair they ended up putting some effort in. Maybe T10 will respond similarly. Or maybe it's too late and this is the last Motorsport we'll ever see. Either way, you made the effort to show them what they were doing wrong, so cheers.
Its really crazy to say that gt7 has better sounds than fm but it really does, remember the days back with gt5 and fm4, fm was league a head here in car sounds, the tables has really turned, fm has getting worse sounds for every game since fm6, gt has massivly been improved after gt6, many would proably never expect the the day where gt would have better sounds than fm if we just look back 10 years ago
@@ibrahimalameddine100 maybe but its difficult to say the sound designer from forza has not be involved the last 2 years, and the cars we have got still sounds great, demon 992 gt3 rs lfa, that was added last year sounds fantastic, i think its also possible that kaz is more involved now than before and he is a car collector and been racedriver in reallife
If they want the next Forza Horizon to actually stand a chance against other racing games, they need to step up their sounds. Like yeah, car sounds are massively improved in Horizon 5 but sometimes they feel bland and boring. There's no crackles, pops and bangs when you upgrade your exhaust. Stock cars backfire for some reason. And the list goes on. Need for Speed Most Wanted 2012 has the best engine sounds and that game is from freaking 2012. The cars sound raspy and depending on the car you can hear crackles, pops and bangs and that's just amazing. Like bro, how tf is a 12 year old game beating the shit out of modern racing games that have more technology? It just doesn't make sense. If Forza Horizon combined some sound design elements from The Crew Motorfest, NFS Most Wanted 2012, GT7 and of course, some things from their own game, we would have the best sounding cars ever, but I guess they're too lazy so they will just reuse the generic cars sounds that everyone loves.

I say they shut the game down for a month to fix absolutely everything, something anything because it’s seeming straight up intentional and they don’t care at all
the engine structure and the engine note are the distinct feature when lambo first debuting aventador (which shared by a lot of modern lambo v12 variants). Murcielago used the classic lambo that they used for more than 40 years. using the new lambo sound for murcielago is more offensive than sharing ferrari sounds since 812 and laferrari's engine does sound similar even in Motorfest 3
What I experience using some V12 in forza games (especially the newer ones) is that some of them are hissing instead of howling, the howl is not like the typical v12 howl, but more like my granpa's dog howl. Idk if it just me, but why hissing? Sounds like it got exhaust leak on the headers
@@fastlanegaming I noticed it too, sounds like being held on by a valve, a bad resonator made to pass a certain regulation, a catalytic converter, or a Db Killer. It's good overall but, it's like hearing my old R6 with a db killer, beautifully awful
It was simple. I just checked the shape of the car in the thumbnail. These sharp edges on the sides are from the active aero from (the car in question)
Here is what T10 sound team does : take 3-4 masters, re-EQ them ; BAM you get the sound for 80 cars. Easy job, see you next day. I left FM franchise since FM4 and I'm very happy I did. Crap audio, lazy work. They don't deserve my money.
Tbf, the copy and paste sounds is in all modern Forza titles simply because they put full priority on car list size hence why cars sound bad, they dont get remodeled, they have terrible customization etc etc. It's always quantity over quality which this video points out perfectly
What you mean with "never knew"? They where great in fm4, fh1, 2, fm6, and even fh3. Only after fh3 they started sucking ever since the sound designer switched to GT
It sounds like a pagani, (I have over 800 h on forza horizon 5) *edit: MURCIELAGO?! I guess it does sound like the murcielago now that I think about it...
Thanks for this video. I generally think turn 10 does a decent job at audio but this format of viseo really exposes it. They need to get their priorities in check. Car sounds should be top 3 for sure

Since I was a kid in FM4 days, the Murcielago was my favourite sounding car in Forza. The soundfile staying relatively the same up till FM6 was primarily showcasing the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” because it was great. Now it’s just an insult to the glorious Bizzarini V12💀
At least we could use Revolusound as an unofficial fix for a lot cars but since the last update PG Games have locked the ability to override their files so we are stuck with the (poor?) choices they've made. I wouldn't be suprised if the same thing happened to FM 2023.
Also a revolusound enjoyer here and yea ngl i just cant play the game anymore with those shit original sounds (talking about FH5, FM is just straight up a joke)
I feel like because I spent such a huge part of growing up playing gran turismo 1-4, that sounds never really seem to bother me, as long as the game itself isn't crap.
There will be a GT7 Sound Video in the next weeks, they put so much love into the series and improved a lot (not only sound design, but also insane details)

There are some cars where it would make sense to have the same sound because they have the same engine or they’re mostly the same car such as the Ferrari Enzo and Maserati MC12. However, the Pagani Huayra BC does NOT have the same engine as the Huayra R, nor are they even made by the same company. The BC has an AMG engine; the R has a bespoke in-house made engine.
I am genuinely shocked at how lazy the developers have become with the car sounds, the bit at the end showing how much copy and paste there is made me go wow they really didn't put any effort it this at all and really starts to make me wonder what went wrong behind the scenes, However as you say on the flip side there are some pretty nice sounding v12 engine's in the game, also the murci did not deserve to be done that dirty also as you pointed out why don't turn 10 who work on horizon 5 and turn 10 who work on motorsport just share car sounds like they did back in the day, on a more positive note though, the lotus esprit v8 in horizon 5 sounded pretty good imo when i drove it in the rivals showcase compared to how it sound's in motorsport, here's hoping we get a massive car sound update fast because motorsport needs it, like what motorsport 7 had but on a *Much.* bigger scale.
In my opinion at this point every game have cars that are a hit or a miss when it comes to sound (some more than others) but when it comes to all forza studios the game is no longer being developed by authentic car enthusiasts and it shows

They get one sound or another at wrong, but most of it its too damn precise! Not only that, but they add details to their sounds that make even richer!
I hate to say this but after a while of playing Forza Motorsport 2023 it got to the point where just playing it would stress me out just to get the reward car's every Wednesday night and I'd stayed up really late and for what a recycled car? And I'm aware that the game gives me a week to do it but me and my family are always on the go and I like to get things done as quick as I possibly can that and playing other games was difficult to do cause I wanted to get FM23 out of the way first but I've uninstalled the game (the premium edition) and I've been much happier and stress free ever since doing that and as much as it breaks my heart but from now on I'll never ever be buying me a Forza Motorsport game ever again
Nice mix. It's interesting that Horizon 5 is meant to be behind, in graphical terms, due to being able to run on the older system. On the other hand, Horizon 5 is ahead with some of the noises and especially in the paint shop, adding features that Motorsport 8 doesn't even have, i.e. matt decals.
People if you want good engine sounding vehicles play project cars 3/2, nfs heat, the crew motorfest, nfs rivals, grid 1, nfs carbon & nfs most wanted 2012
Racing games have to go back to quality over quantity. I'm sick of them making their car lists a selling point rather than a good game. It's become "We have more cars than the others!" Instead of "We have *better* cars than the others!" It's so stupid now.
I bet the reason FH5 did as good as they did was because of the fact that they rerecorded the sounds from scratch AND GOT them to work in the old audio engine. I really hope T10 update their sounds and the sound engine properly.
Regulations for exhaust systems change & I watched some clips of the different models with stock exhaust (from the same channel to avoid microphone differences) and they do NOT always sound the same even tho the engine block is the same…headers, manifolds & more change the tone too, same for the exhaust diameters and headers diameters…
One thing to note about Forza Motorsport vs Forza Horizon. Forza Motorsport uses Stereo wav files for car sounds. Forza Horizon uses Mono. That T12 is likely the same sound, just converted to Mono the sound is ruined some. The "new" C8 Z06 sound in FH5 is exactly the same wav files as in FM23.
To be fair, the modern Vulcan sounds are more accurate to the real thing than FH3. I must also add that many of the cars shown share engines and exhaust architectures (Enzo and MC12 for example). The sounds themselves are mostly underwhelming though unfortunately, copy and paste or not.
I remember watching a white Vulcan with red stripes ( th-cam.com/video/Xfd3yIIBPRQ/w-d-xo.html at 2:40) now tell me again that this scream is closer to the modern sound 😂😂 and yes the Enzo & MC12 have the same engine, I may have forgot to put the text *same engine shared* sorry, but that is why they're back to back, all others are sorted by brand
3:35 what the fuck is this. I think it's probably the worst sound they could give to that car, it sounds *SO* off and also pretty bad, how can they even mess it up so much?

You know it's not just the sound but the powerbands too. Every V12 in the game has the same shift point... changes to differential or transmission do not affect the sound. In reality even if two cars shared the same engine(MC12, Enzo) they would still sound different from the exhaust lengths, exhaust pipes, power level, transmission and differential gearing, dog gears or not, ect...
EVERYTHING sounds the bloody same or has a filter on top...
I swear, it feels like they used the same FH3 V12 sound for all of their games
The way some of them don't EVEN change the tone from 1 car to another, I bet that if I closed my eyes at certain points, I would think it is the same VEHICLE.
That is exactly what I do when editing to really test myself....I posted a new topic into the FM23 car issues forum talking about the this! Here’s the link to the forum: forums.forza.net/t/v12-sounds-breakdown-in-fm-2023-a-lot-of-copy-paste/674419?u=fastlane_yordan
Love to see the FH3 Vulcan appreciation. That was one of my favourites to cruise around in.
It’s like forza horizon 4 all over again
Only that now that we have FH5, FH4's flaws seem only to be the sound design choices and some minor things...I don't have ANY traffic in FH5, the game feels like a *I am Legend* spinn-off
Yep. I still don't forgive PG for fucking up the R34 Skyline and making it sound the same as the 97 M3, which also sounds godawful.
Which means they still haven’t learned, likely because the ignorant fan base is still buying these games.
7:47 What have they done to the Huayra R 😭😭😭 It sounds like they put the microphone in an air intake💀💀💀
3:17 fh3 vulcan was godly
At least they fixed the 812 sound. I remember it sounded like a 488 at some point.
Oh yeah right, another one bites the dust on the sound design list 😂
Its because Forza Motorsport is build from the ground UP!
LMAOOOOO
One thing: the V12 used for the SV isn't actually generic, but it's the same file of the Aventador, which is correct

@@fifteen8850 yeah, same of "F" engine but different type and different pitch each per ferrari, but in FM all ferrari had recycle sound and its same pitch

Truly a build from the ground up moment, such realistic games even the original gran turismo from the ps1 era can't compared
Seems like the audio team finished 6 months after the hole team got the green light to develop Motorsport 2023.
Would even make sense lol
They are all identical in a way that u can't distinguish between them 😮
Its really crazy to say that gt7 has better sounds than fm but it really does, remember the days back with gt5 and fm4, fm was league a head here in car sounds, the tables has really turned, fm has getting worse sounds for every game since fm6, gt has massivly been improved after gt6, many would proably never expect the the day where gt would have better sounds than fm if we just look back 10 years ago
Totally agree with you there, isn't it true that the sound design guy for Forza got hired by GT and that's when GT started sounding better?
@@ibrahimalameddine100 maybe but its difficult to say the sound designer from forza has not be involved the last 2 years, and the cars we have got still sounds great, demon 992 gt3 rs lfa, that was added last year sounds fantastic, i think its also possible that kaz is more involved now than before and he is a car collector and been racedriver in reallife
The people responsible for the sound should be shameful, how can they get a salary when they clearly don't do their work properly...
the fact that THE CREW MOTORFEST out of all games beats forza is CRAZY
The audio is the best part of FH5, it's everything else (or, should I say, the lack of anything) that made me dump it

Holy shit, the traffic in FH3
Yeah we’re calling you out, audio devs.
I loved how loud the cars were in FH1. Especially the muscle cars.
Playground Games and Turn 10 should switch games, FH sounds miles ahead for some cars
What I experience using some V12 in forza games (especially the newer ones) is that some of them are hissing instead of howling, the howl is not like the typical v12 howl, but more like my granpa's dog howl. Idk if it just me, but why hissing? Sounds like it got exhaust leak on the headers
I know what you mean, I think in GT7 you can slightly noticing it, as there is a howl but it looses volume & power towards the limiter
People on Facebook can see a video like this and still say “but I like the game!l 😂
Let’s be honest forza never knew how to make accurate or good sounds
What you mean with "never knew"? They where great in fm4, fh1, 2, fm6, and even fh3.
Only after fh3 they started sucking ever since the sound designer switched to GT
They did know, but after FH4 started development it started going Downhill, FH5 showing that to everyone and FM2023 being the absolute pain
Even MW05 has a great sound for the Murci 🫠
It sounds like a pagani, (I have over 800 h on forza horizon 5)
*edit:
MURCIELAGO?! I guess it does sound like the murcielago now that I think about it...
Thanks for this video. I generally think turn 10 does a decent job at audio but this format of viseo really exposes it. They need to get their priorities in check. Car sounds should be top 3 for sure
If you think about how Microsoft changed every 18 months the developers then yeah..instead of re doing new sounds they just change them and re use them lol
Maybe they hear us when we post it in their Forum.

@@fastlanegaming Very good! Maybe you tell them, that you make TH-cam and have many followers.
So glad i only played this game for the E-Ray
This is driving f*cking nuts r.n
I got you Dishan
The BMW 850CSi actually has the god tier McLaren F1 sound from FH4, and the McLaren F1 has trash 😅😅😅
I took my eyes off the screen and heard the same engine sound for at least 30 seconds. "Built from the ground up" 💀
4:41 Are we all going to gloss over the fact the BRM P201 sound like a fucking V8? It's completely wrong! 😂
First one has got to be the aventador, or any other car with the L539 V12 in it. Forza has an iconic sound for that specific motor.
To be fair, i did instantly realise the murci is a lambo V12, but i havent even bought the game so im definitely not defending that pos
It's the Murcielago. Got it at 0:58, because I played way too much FH4.

I miss the days that forza was a "quality product" it sure has been awhile
“From the ground up”
The scv12 has been updated it seems, when the game launched or sounded much worse
Crew motorfest really cooked forza with it's sound design🤣🤣🤣💀
Forza MotorSport 4
Forza Horizon 1 & 2
Best Sounding Game in the Forza Series
In my opinion at this point every game have cars that are a hit or a miss when it comes to sound (some more than others) but when it comes to all forza studios the game is no longer being developed by authentic car enthusiasts and it shows
Thank you for talking about the sound in fm8, it's mostly terrible and needs more develloping in it
Clearly passed by some Purple Haired "Diversity hire" who is *Not* a Car Enthusiast in any way, shape or form and would not know a Bizzarrini LE65 from an F130B even if you clonked her on the Shins with the Crank Journals! :( those are PS2 level Bad :(

Yeah maybe this is why I've become obsessed with racing turbos on everything.
Its really sad to see Forza franchise unfold this way.. On the other hand, im glad people who worked at TDU and TDU2 made The Crew possible. Motorfest is such an underated gem.
Apparently, every V12 Ferrari from 2013 onwards is the exact same car. SMH
I work in the auto industry. The Shelby gt350 is one of the most unique sounding v8s of all time and in the forza games is sounds like generic v8 blah
And that's why people say every car feels the same
718 gt4 rs's sound is broken btw. Sounds like a high pitched flat 4 GTS.
Why do games nowadays only get finished at the end of their lifespan? This is gonna be one of those games that gets ”fixed” with updates
“Built from the ground up”
Racing games have to go back to quality over quantity. I'm sick of them making their car lists a selling point rather than a good game. It's become "We have more cars than the others!" Instead of "We have *better* cars than the others!" It's so stupid now.
2009 Pagani Zonda Cinque: Allow me to introduce myself
yep... working on it
It has no drama all it's wow factor and it's very tame sounding
I bet the reason FH5 did as good as they did was because of the fact that they rerecorded the sounds from scratch AND GOT them to work in the old
audio engine. I really hope T10 update their sounds and the sound engine properly.
Whats hysterical is they gave the SV, the SVJ and the Sian DIFFERENT sounds........when should all be indentical, same as base Aventador and Veneno xD
notice how some of the quote on quote "copypasted" sounds are put into cars with the same engine?
Regulations for exhaust systems change & I watched some clips of the different models with stock exhaust (from the same channel to avoid microphone differences) and they do NOT always sound the same even tho the engine block is the same…headers, manifolds & more change the tone too, same for the exhaust diameters and headers diameters…
It's the case with alot of these, it's kind of an unfair comparison I feel. But holy shit did they do the murci dirty
And its funny how those stereo sounds for FM are just no different than FH, literally its still shit nothing like GT7
@@Vioral I really wish they would bring GT to PC
@@gbales84 I wish too haha I really need it to have some quality rides instead of playing a huge cheap mess
To be fair, the modern Vulcan sounds are more accurate to the real thing than FH3. I must also add that many of the cars shown share engines and exhaust architectures (Enzo and MC12 for example). The sounds themselves are mostly underwhelming though unfortunately, copy and paste or not.
I remember watching a white Vulcan with red stripes ( th-cam.com/video/Xfd3yIIBPRQ/w-d-xo.html at 2:40) now tell me again that this scream is closer to the modern sound 😂😂 and yes the Enzo & MC12 have the same engine, I may have forgot to put the text *same engine shared* sorry, but that is why they're back to back, all others are sorted by brand
they have just used a same sound file for every v12 car and they just changed the bass and pitch and some other elements
3:35 what the fuck is this.
I think it's probably the worst sound they could give to that car, it sounds *SO* off and also pretty bad, how can they even mess it up so much?
5:29 Racing V12 from FH series, wrong?
The Racing V12 is the Ferrari F50 GT engine
It sounds different in FH5, but yes the engine is from the F50GT 👍🏾
I knew the car right as you revealed the fh4 sound lol, so sad to see t10 giving it the generic lambo sound as it is one of the best sounding cars. fh4 was probably the last t10 game to get the lp670 sound right lol
