Clearing Brambles without chemicals

  • Pulling brambles might not be 100% successful and is hard work too, but there is no cost to our pocket or to the environment either.
    Brambles dominate Coed Glannant and whilst brambles support some flora and fauna, they exclude many other species so to maintain a healthy balance, we need some bramble and some open areas, and in creating open areas, we will increase the diversity of the woodland.

    Makes you think how tedious conservation can be - sometimes near every bramble root needs to be pulled up individually, possibly for years ongoing. But all worth it in the end, nice work!

    Have done a lot of this with a hoe lantana instead of brambles.keep at it mate.

    Does it stop them from coming back if you remove them from the roots

      More so than if you were to strim back a bramble patch. Strimming might be a lot quicker and less effort, however given time you will certainly have more plants coming back from strimming because all the roots were left in the ground, versus this method which largely takes out some or most roots.
