She was 73 yrs old at the time of this concert. She started her musical career in the year 1943. She ruled the industry for over 7 decades. She recently passed away at 92. Her last recording was just 2 yrs back.

Here are a few must-listen songs:
1. Lag Ja Gale: You must react to the original black and white version sung by Lataji in her prime! She was very young here and her voice reflects that.
2. Bhor Bhaye from Satyam Shivam Sundaram: I recommend this song over other classic songs from this classic film because of its interesting arrangement especially for the time. Lataji was older here and had a slightly deeper voice here.
3. Tujhe Dekha to Ye Jaana Sanam from the movie DDLJ: The most iconic Bollywood song from the 90s sung by a 66-year-old Lataji for a 20-something heroine! Need I say more?
4. Luka Chuppi from Rang de Basanti: One of the saddest songs of my own childhood from the 2000s sung by an 77-year-old Lataji and composed by AR Rahman. See the strength in her voice even at this age!
5. Sunya Sunya Maifilit Majhya from Umbartha: Last but not least, a beautiful Marathi-language classic song composed by her younger brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar. You could dedicate a whole another episode to the musical adventures of the duo, but this song is by far their most iconic outing.
RIP Lataji, who ruled the industry seemingly forever and inspires playback singers to this day.

You need to listen to her recordings in the 60s/70s to truly get a sense as to why shes such a legend. Shes sung too many songs to count, but you should react to the song "Lag Ja Gale." The original recorded version from 1964. Not a live rendition when shes over 70 years old, those wont do justice to what she sounded like in her prime.

Well LATA MANGESHKAR was a living legend and one of the most respected female singers in India and even other parts of the world, Her career span almost 8 decades Well she started her career at age 13 and from there she created history in the Indian film industry, she sang more than 25000+ songs that too in different languages if you start listening to her songs which will take almost 1 month for you guys to complete the list of the songs sung by her. She started in the year 1942 and her last recorded song was in the year 2019. She completely ruled the Indian film industry and every producer of the film just wanted her to sing songs in their films. Somewhere in the 1980s, she refused to take awards in order to give chance for new singers to sing in films and motivate them. in 2004 there was a movie named VEER-ZARA one of the best films with music and storyline. At that time she was 76 and she gave her voice (playback) to an actress named Preity Zinta who was just 30 yrs old can't imagine she had such a great voice to deliver at 76 age. She was the one who bought a revolution in the Indian music industry and her legacy is been carried forward. She is the only singer to date who sang for actresses who belonged to 4 different generations.

I grew up listening to her in bollywood movies for young actresses and she was already in her 50s. As she started singing at 5yrs old and was still singing into her late 80's. She's incredible and is the pride of India. Best singer in the world. Noone can match it or come close.
