    Congratulations on your Baja 1000 Race Finish. What an incredible adventure and all done in a stock Grenadier. Thanks for your detailed analysis of the Grenadier in it's element and what you did to get it race ready. It gives me confidence to just about take mine anywhere. Love the Shale Blue as that is what mine is too. Keep the Video's coming. DaBull

    Subscribed! Passed by for the Grenadier... excellent reviews on and off-road. Loved it. Wanted offroaders' perspective after watching the official documentary. Rants about the steering left me numb 😂 it is a marvel of engineering specializing in OFFroad, meaning even gravel road does not count as off-road so much it is capable. Offroaders, adventurers overlanding, enthusiasts, hipsters of the month, weekenders, nature lovers, Land-rover owners, G Wagon owners, Jeep owners, Ram owners are all going to love it. Here in Australia we are doing a 40mm lift and fitting 34 inch tires. If you fit the 40mm lift it’s springs only and the shocks are fine nothing needs to be changed. The reason for 34s as apposed to 35s is that the tire blocks you from opening the rear door with your tire mounted on the rear door. Of course we have the option of the diesel engine and I think is a far superior engine for off-road with more torque. Ive just ordered a Quartermaster. Cheers and thanks for the video.

    • @dickinaroundoutdoors8609
      @dickinaroundoutdoors8609  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have been watching any reviews of the Eibach lift to see what the opinion is. I like the idea of minimal lift and am hoping to retain tires that are readily available internationally. I have also seen a company that manufactures a spare tire offset mount that allows for mounting of a 35 while allowing the doors to work. It is great to see the aftermarket picking up steam.

      @@bobbyheskett I suspect there is no warranty coverage for the towing as the roadside assistance is only US and Canada, however the Mexican insurance policy we had will offset some of the cost. This one fits, unexpectedly, into the "gotta pay to play" category I think!

    Nice video highliting the Grenadier’s strengths. I am a rockcrawler at heart, but living where I do, that type of terrain is a bit thin on the ground, and in my advancing years, overland touring has an increasing appeal, so the Grenadier could certainly make the shortlist of possible vehicles to choose from albeit as a used vehicle purchase.

    • @dickinaroundoutdoors8609
      @dickinaroundoutdoors8609  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really is built like a tank and with, what i am sure will be coming, some amount of lift it has all the right running gear to do the rocks with the best of them. It is a great platform right from the start though and one could travel the world in stock form no doubt.

    What does an overlander do better than a rock crawler or a mud buggy - couldn’t the latter kinds of vehicles also do over landing just fine? I’m asking seriously. Is it long-drive comfort? For example, I know this thing is way tougher than a Tacoma .. but what kind of terrain could it tackle that a Tacoma couldn’t? I’ve taken my trd pro on stuff harder than this.

    • @dickinaroundoutdoors8609
      @dickinaroundoutdoors8609  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is always a big question and I really don't think there is a concensus on the issue and totally depends on someone's definition of overlanding (when you get agreement on that let me know). For me there are no hard rules but a couple of things come to mind vs a built rock crawler or mud buggy assuming your view of overland includes self reliant travel. First is payload enough to carry the gear you need (and this is also all over the board) for the time you plan to be away. Second is ability to perform over a wide array of terrain (for me an overlander will not perform on rocks like a dedicated rig, or mud for that matter but will perform better on two tracks, tarmac and other off-road terrain one would find traveling from place to place). Third would be expected reliability and durability.
      Great question and I think your Taco fits the bill. For me the Grenadier was planned (before getting hit by another vehicle!) to go long distances without breakdown or failure for a much longer time. Will they actually live up to that is for the future to tell us.

    Very nice Video and an exciting adventure. My Grenadier will be delivered on Monday 20th May. Looking forward to it.
    I need some help on how did you fix the Radio on your vehicle, how did you root the antenna. I think the problem of your vehicle is related to bad fuel.

    • @dickinaroundoutdoors8609
      @dickinaroundoutdoors8609  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Congrats on the upcoming addition! Since the radio was not a permanent install, although this would work, we used heavy duty velcro to affix the radio under the seat and ran the power from the rear seat battery box, The antenna was magnetic mount and I simply ran the cable through the rear door seal and along the side of the rear compartment. If it had been permanent I would have found a more appropriate routing through some of the panels. Depending on radio type I am a fan of the units that have the controls in the mic and the main body mounted somewhere out of the way.

    Everyone is pretty much doing a lift and 35s out the gate. While Baja trails are stupid easy, the long time on trail does take its toll. But what everyone misses is how insanely over built the Grenadier is with all one ton running gear. You are just not going to break. I believe it will make an awesome rock crawler as well. The electronics however are poorly sorted out unfortunately. Upgraded suspension stuff will keep coming out.

    • @dickinaroundoutdoors8609
      @dickinaroundoutdoors8609  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep for the most part I think you are dead right, not the most challenging technical trails but relentless in their ability over many miles to take their toll. They offered such a great variety of terrain and surfaces as well so you weren't doing the same thing every day and it allowed us to see how the Grenadier performed in different environments.
