Ma'am, I am 25. I started learning Kathak a week back. As a child I wanted to be a dancer but my mother opposed me. She wanted me to be studious only. I studied, I gained a good job n now I got chance to start mastering this blessed art form. I'm inspired each and every day by you. I am able to grab the footworks without much trouble because I have been seeing your videos and I guess my mind has already aligned to Kathak much before my legs... Dance and music are also study..literally we not only have to study but with that we have to do it practically...many people do graduation in kathak,Bharatanatyam and music.....sometimes even phd....but we Indians do not respect our own culture and our own treasure.

Hi there, I'm very new to kathak and I'm very confused with bell choice. how do I choose and buy ghungroos for myself? I realised that they sound better when they are bigger and heavier.. I'm considering the between 17mm and 20mm diameter. bells. Do you have any input to make my decision easier? please..
Steven, just get the same size of bells. If lighter then better. Yes 20mm do sound amazing but I would suggest to go for light weight ones...better and safer for the knees and the back. Please do your warm ups and cool down routines when dancing..

mam can you add some techniques for chakkars I m trying them from a long time bt I couldn't extend it after 20 rounds
Tanni, if you can manage twenty chakkars, then you are already on the right path. What I feel you need is stamina building and balance exercises.
In my next shoot, I will add lessons on how to build stamina and what to do to maintain balance while taking chakkars etc. Hope that helps.

Hi there, I'm very new to kathak and I'm very confused with bell choice. how do I choose and buy ghungroos for myself?
I realised that they sound better when they are bigger and heavier..
I'm considering the between 17mm and 20mm diameter. bells. Do you have any input to make my decision easier? please..
Steven, just get the same size of bells. If lighter then better. Yes 20mm do sound amazing but I would suggest to go for light weight ones...better and safer for the knees and the back. Please do your warm ups and cool down routines when dancing..
