I liked Shakira more for some reason. It was a better performance, I thought, because there was more balance between the vocals and the showmanship than with JLo. Also, either they were lipsyncing for parts or whoever secured and hid the backup mics deserves some sort of award.
That particular one she does is for the tribute to our African roots / influence, not Arab. Not saying they don't do it, but this particular one wasn't for em

I’ve seen worse from Miley (no hate I love her) and even MV . shakira is known for shaking her hips so what did ppl expect .. I wish they could appreciate different styles of dancing. He has nothing against Jlo. He was just explaining why what was suppose to be a simple job became a nightmare. He had to fix every single word she sang. A little insider knowledge for you. That's why she lip syncs.
My grandma is 95 and she moves more than JLo. 🤷♀️ Caribbean grow up dancing and with healthier foods. JLo can dance hip hop and she’s a performer but just look at how much Shakira dances and actually sings while doing it. JLo’s hip movement is non existent.
Before watching the halftime show, I was like "meh" about it, but I really enjoyed both performers and respected the effort and showmanship that they displayed. Like them or not, NOBODY can say they phoned in their performances. Hard working women there.
Leave it to the Latin ladies to make this half-time show into what it should be, a lovely over the top party that makes you happy and leaves you entertained a great deal. Both ladies look amazing and both are true stage animals giving one hell of a show. Ty for the react :D
I'm a fan of Shakira from the very beggining and to understand her succes in the music industry, you have to know that she is a genius with high IQ, she's a musician that writes her own lyrics which are very poetic, and produce all her songs as well, plus she's beatiful and dance on Beyonce level, so that's why she's a global super star, not because she is good vocalist, nobody is perfect. About confidence, is must have, nobody is gonna ask you to believe in yourself, you have to do it because there's no other option. Shakira was rejected in the choir of her School and the teacher said she sounded like a goat, can you imagine if Shakira wouldn't have high self steem? Anyways, great video as always.
I feel sorry forever gets signed for next years show. The pressure is going to be immense after that... was so good I think the dancing and high energy really made it
I love the respect that you have for the wholeness of the show. I also loved how you acknowledged the partnership between JLo and Shakira. Their generosity with and responsibility to each other is really the key of why this works.
Rebecca! That's my flag on there! 🇵🇷 Puerto Rico, in that house! My blood was rushing. Shakira was my first music idol during my childhood. I imitated her in a lot of school talent shows. Her artistry has changed but the core is there. Jennifer is a whole performer and knows how to rule a stage.
Gloria Estefan was asked to perform aswell but at age 62 said she is happy to pass the privilege to the 'younger' Latino ladies. I'm also pretty sure Glorias husband discovered Shakira, and manages her 😊 Would have been awesome though with the 3 of them x
Me too! My childhood 😀 Just like you said it would have been fab for her to show up at the end and start doing the conga 😂 I still find it amazing that she has 2 metal rods in her back ❤
This was my favorite Súper Bowl halftime show ever!!! I’m Latina myself, and I love both Shakira and jLo. There hasn’t been a day since the Super Bowl that I haven’t watched the video at least one time. While I love them both, Shakira is just unbelievable with those hips!!! Shakira was performing typical dances from Colombia: 6:04 it's called "Mapalé" 11:50 it's called "Champeta", Shakira's choreographer was an 18 year old girl, her name is Liz Dany Campo and she is from Baranquilla - Colombia. Also, the dancers in white at the very end are from a Salsa dance group from Cali - Colombia. They are called "Swing Latino" ARRIBA COLOMBIA
I'm a huge shakira fan and personally I think she sings better in Spanish, her old albums are fire! Singing in English doesn't due her justice because her accent kind of gets in the way, but she's an amazing artist and definitely very original! I just LOVE her!
I definitely didn't mean that in a bad way. I mean, technically speaking we all have an accent but the way she sings in Spanish really suits her style and vocal abilities. But I agree she's great no matter what!
Yo as soon as I saw the Puerto Rican flag I screamed. Every Puerto Rican cell in my body was on 🔥. So so happy and proud with them!!! I think it was one of my top tv moments
You're so welcome in Colombia!! You'd have so much fun here. 😊🇨🇴 And of course we are all so proud of shakira! She presented a lot of typical dances! At the end she was dancing "champeta" and the dancers at the end with Jlo are Colombian as well, they're a really really good salsa dance group 😍

This was one of the best in so many years! So proud of them both - terrific partnership. Shakira was freakin’ amazing...singing, guitar, drums, and damn! What tremendous dancers they both are!
It is not just great dancing and performing, and the coming together of all different cultural backgrounds, but also the joy Shakira and Jlo express! Not to mention the exquisite vocalism of Jlo's daughter!
The bit with her daughter and the latinx kids in cages was a political statement. "Lets get loud" aka speak up. Born in the US speaks for itself. The whole performance is amazing.
I think JLo killed it! If you enjoyed her pole dancing, she was in this movie called Hustlers where she played an exotic dancer (that is how she learned all those moves) Oh, and the kid that sang with her? That's her daughter Emme. So cute
It annoys me that the pole dancing is what some people thought was inappropriate. Pole dancing can be very tasteful and beautiful, I have a friend who does it. She's not a stripper or anything like that, she does it for fun and it's really pretty to watch and takes extreme strength and grace.
One of the best performances at the Super Bowl ever! I've never been so proud to be Puerto Rican and Latino having 2 Puerto Ricans (Bad Bunny and J.Lo) and 2 Colombians (Shakira and J.Balvin) plus J.Lo's daughter was so damn good. Everything about it was explosive and makes so much sense since it was in Miami were many of us Latinos live there 🇨🇴 🇵🇷
Shakira Nailed it Last night the she moved and sang was top knoch and God l love her accent it sounds as sexy as she looks and moves .JLo was good as well.
I mean I love Jlo but Shakira outperformed her. Jlo had a lot of backup dancers but Shakira was almost alone and she has thr best stage presence. If Jlo was 100 , Shakira was 500 ! Shaq foreva!! Also there was lots of subtle msgs like Puerto Rican flag, children in cage, tribal dances of Colombia. Everyone now fight on my comment because apparently I can't have a different opinion.
Halftime shows aren't a competition is a collaboration between artist, their goal is to entertain, both productions worked together to share a stage and both delivered their own style, it was a non-stop mega show.
@aberas well those "comments" and "articles" are clearly deaf , not a competition, ok ,but noone can say that shakira performance was bad or that she cant sing or even that she is "less" than Jlo.
It was obviously playback, but so fun to watch, they are really talented ! I can’t believe they are so energetic at their age, and that was really fire to watch, I just imagine how incredible it would have been to see it live !
Loved their performance!! I can't believe that they're able to put on such a show at their age when most musicians stop performing as they near 40! I guess age is just a number 🤔
I was hoping she was going to point out the points where it switched from live singing to audio and back. But otherwise, still an entertaining review :-)
Rebecca love you react to this video, latino comunity is so proud today.... I love your face when the guy on silver suit came to the stage, he is been in the Spotlight cuz his lyrics and "voice" I do belive that shakira is a complete musician, she runs through a set of styles and instruments and she dances champeta which is a colombian variation of african dances, and what she does with her toungue (that sound) is a reference to Barranquilla's carnival dance group which paint their body fully in black and represent slavery and that sound is a sound of freedoom... love from colombia....

One of the best half time shows in recent memory.
Shakira has great hips ... also, she has a big heart, helping children and changing lives. Shakira is a beautiful human being
I liked Shakira more for some reason. It was a better performance, I thought, because there was more balance between the vocals and the showmanship than with JLo.
Also, either they were lipsyncing for parts or whoever secured and hid the backup mics deserves some sort of award.
Shakira nailed it
I'm guessing Shakira's significant other is a very happy person.

Well, we al know JLo’s history about her vocals in her albums and live.
5:55 Shakira perform a traditional Arab vocal expression known as a "zaghrouta." Her father is Lebanese.
Right.🥰 Not just Arabic it's also Assyrian. Basically general middle eastern culture. All Mideast and some African cultures.
That particular one she does is for the tribute to our African roots / influence, not Arab. Not saying they don't do it, but this particular one wasn't for em

I can't believe that Shakira is 43 and Jlo is 50 years old and they dance and perform SO good, like perfection. I love this and it makes me proud of being from Latinamerica ❤️
I hate how much hate they have been getting because supposedly their “performances” are to sexy.. I saw nothing to raunchy even the pool dance was very clean.. I’ve seen worse from Miley (no hate I love her) and even MV . shakira is known for shaking her hips so what did ppl expect .. I wish they could appreciate different styles of dancing. Ppl twerk on a daily and ppl don’t talk about that so why don’t we just tone it down a notch. Loved the performances.. thanks for your insight love you voice too ❤️😘
nah only a few but very vocal group hated it, the majority loved them.
Latino dancing is sexy. The first thing I thought was it was going to be sexy.
Nola Love exactly

That bit had me HOWLING when I first saw it last night, but then my ignorant ass was enlightened when I found out that that bit right there is called *zaghrouta* and it was a salute to her Arabic heritage. ♥️ Shakira represented her Columbian/Arabic (Lebanese) roots so beautifully. As a Latina, I was even more touched that she started the show talking in Spanish and closed it speaking in Spanish too. A QUEEN! ♥️♥️♥️
I don't even care if it was lip synced or not, the performance was OUTSTANDING
truth the simple fact of doing those moves and being in sync with the vocals live in front of like 100 million people is amazing per se.
@@ThePethboc I care :(. My theory is JLo didn't want to sing live, and shakira to not make her look bad decided to do the same. Anyways still impressive, but being live would've put more spice and authenticity, imo, like lady gaga's.

@@chanelelaineanj7395 oh yea I know it's just that ppl like saying that it's lip synced
A music engineer buddy of mine once told me Jlo and Hillary Duff were the two worst vocalists he's ever had to fix. He said Jlo is absolutely tone deaf based off her raw tracks. He has nothing against Jlo. He was just explaining why what was suppose to be a simple job became a nightmare. He had to fix every single word she sang. A little insider knowledge for you. That's why she lip syncs.
Anyone criticizing JLO let's see them do this at 50 and at 43 for Shakira.
Exercising throughout a lifetime makes it possible.
My grandma is 95 and she moves more than JLo. 🤷♀️ Caribbean grow up dancing and with healthier foods. JLo can dance hip hop and she’s a performer but just look at how much Shakira dances and actually sings while doing it. JLo’s hip movement is non existent.
I know right, it’s was amazing 👏
Yes they will if they will be paid millions like jlo

Both ladies look amazing and both are true stage animals giving one hell of a show.

I'm a huge shakira fan and personally I think she sings better in Spanish, her old albums are fire! Singing in English doesn't due her justice because her accent kind of gets in the way, but she's an amazing artist and definitely very original! I just LOVE her!
I think her accent makes it better
I completely agree, although she sounds amazing singing both.
I definitely didn't mean that in a bad way. I mean, technically speaking we all have an accent but the way she sings in Spanish really suits her style and vocal abilities. But I agree she's great no matter what!

I think JLo killed it! If you enjoyed her pole dancing, she was in this movie called Hustlers where she played an exotic dancer (that is how she learned all those moves) Oh, and the kid that sang with her? That's her daughter Emme. So cute
I loved JLo (not as much as Shakira, obvi) but her pole dancing were the most basic moves ever. Rest of her performance was great, though.
It annoys me that the pole dancing is what some people thought was inappropriate. Pole dancing can be very tasteful and beautiful, I have a friend who does it. She's not a stripper or anything like that, she does it for fun and it's really pretty to watch and takes extreme strength and grace.
Loved her too!
