I only just watched this last week when an American friend posted about it on FB. I had never heard of it before. Such a great movie. I've watched it three times in one week.
I knew i saw the janitor in something else, i cant believe i missed that. Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club & Sixteen Candles are in my top favorites. I just watched Pretty in Pink & Sixteen Candles a few days ago guess i know which one im watching tonight.....
I’m not even close to 40 and I fucking LOVE this movie. Easily my favorite. My story with is that I used to act like the characters on Monday and what would happen with them
Well, when he mentioned Billy Idol as the first choice to sing it, I immediately heard him doing it. It was his style, and his voice wasn’t too different from the Simple Minds guy.
I wouldn't think Billy Idol loses too much sleep over not accepting the theme son. He's still well known enough to have multiple different popular songs, while Simple Minds are known almost entirely just for this song. Even for people who haven't heard of the movie, they will still know (and love) this song. They will mostly still only know Simple Minds for this song. Idol has a good number of well loved songs. Missing out on this soundtrack won't play on his mind too much I think.
The only director's cut is the current version. As writer/director/co-producer, Hughes had full control over what ended up in the movie. Even though a bunch of deleted scenes exist, Hughes ultimately felt they didn't belong in the finished film.
I honestly don't think they did. Think about it. The only reason they opened up to each other and became friends was because that's all they had in the moment. Once Monday rolls around they're back to their old clicks because they don't need each other anymore. I'm sure they still look at each other differently than they did before but don't think they hang out or actually became real friends.
@@soulreaperx7x I sometimes imagine they don't hang out on Monday but through life's circumstances they find a way to be in each other's lives. And they find a way to meet up outside of school without any distractions. Like most epic friendships come about :). And they do this until they go to college or whatever then they have yearly anniversaries of the detention. And they grow together happily ever after. Very hopeful as you can see lolol. I just refuse to believe they never come together again. Such an experience is enough to leave a longing in you that changes the course of your life.
This is legitimately the first time I heard about this show.... Was this popular in the United States? Me and my parents are from Hungary a once was communist socialist country in the 80s and while they had things aired in tv like knight rider, Beverly Hills cop, Columbo macgyver, Derrick, Miami Vice, The A Team, Magnum, Alf etc I have never heard about this. If you think about it it’s crazy that all these shows were available to watch in our own language in the middle of the communism
so the person playing bender was 22, snuck into a real highschool pretended to be a real student the entire time? well let me say hes the only adult i would give a pass to walk around in a high school pretending to be a student, anybody else is just creepy.
I always imagined a follow up as a High Scholl reunion. Anthony would be some dude working for NASA, Emilio would be a Sports Commentator, Ally would be a Childrens book author and they'd all be talking about the Saturday Morning detention and what happened to Judd. The Teacher would go on about what a piece of S++t he was and that he probably ended up dead in some alley. Then, in would come Judd in Full US Marine uniform with a chest full of ribbons followed by wife Molly and shut them all up.
Filming took 3 months. The entire movie from beginning to end was the story of one Saturday. So of course they wore the same clothes for the whole movie. That means they wore the same clothes for 90 days. That must have been a challenge.
@@oscarwind4266 absolutely. I was a substitute teacher for a decade. Also, I was a teen back when the movie came out. The characters are exaggerated stereotypes.
