- Hello world, In this video, I've shown you the complete method to create paper cut out styled digital layer art illustration in Adobe Illustrator. This could be the process of Eiko Ojala, an Illustrator who has created a lot of realistic looking paper layer art illustrations. I don't know how he "actually" have done all of his illustrations. So here is my take in the Adobe Illustrator.
Do you know who is the silhouette guy in this illustration? Do answer me in the comment section below.
Check out download link of silhouette shape in the very first comment below.
While working on this or any other project in illustrator, be careful about effect order. Because most of the beginners get confused with it and end up quitting the project.
Now it's your turn to make something cool using this method. Have Fun.

Thank you so much 😊 👍
Thank you!
Amazing! Thanks!
You're welcome! Thank you :)
thank you so much!!
This is a brilliant tutorial, thank you! You actually put in some effort smoothening the offset path. I think i have a faster and easier
way, why not use a central shape and blend it with the shape outside? that way, you don't even need to invert the object, you just have to expand the blend and it saves loads of time!
Absolutely loved it! I made something like this in Photoshop and wasted too much time 🤔
that was amazing
Thanks Ethan!
Very nice tips!
☺
Thank you Thank you 👍👍🧠
Very beautiful work

I like it..
Thank you!@

You should decrease the percentage of the darkness when you're giving the shapes that bright edge. The number is negative, so you're making it brighter in the inner shapes. -30 is greater than -40. Despite that, great tutorial. Thanks.
Yes exactly. Negative value means less Darkness. (Towards Brightness).
So did i say "Increase" instead of decrease in the video? Sorry If i did. I forgot about that.
Vector Slate | Graphic Design Tutorials in the video you put -50 in the outer shape and -15 in the inner. Because you're working with negative numbers, the light gets stronger (-15 is closer to zero and that makes the number greater than -50) in the center of the piece
Is their name tom cruise? :) great tutorial!
I will make it
Why making a shadow above film grain would result in a bright paper edge?
and it's one of the great and considerate tutorials i've seem before
thank u so much.
Very helpful tutorials, thank you! BTW may I ask what are those BGM? Like them a lot and would like to find more, thank you!
thanks :-)
You're welcome :)
I tried to make one but it didn't work. now you taut how to make this thanks
help! i don't know why after i add the film grain it makes my smooth vector into sharp-binary lines. now that i look at yours, it seems to have made your artwork that way too. is there a way for it to not?
It's possible to export such magnificent artwork in svg from Ilustrator. I'm noob in Ilustrator, so don't be nice. :)
You made what I said
I have a lot of them
THIS IS SEXY!!
Great stuff!
Thank you!!
I think it is Tom Cruise in Impossible Mission poster !
Yes. 👍 But from a random clicked photo. Not a poster.
Impossible Mission? lol
THANK YOU FOR A GREAT TUTORIAL. How did you create the panel of color swatches you use to 'eye dropper pick ' color for your layers?
You're welcome! Thanks for appreciation :) Those are just regular rectangle shapes filled with solid color.
Watch this video for full details of Eyedropper tool. I recommend it to faster workflow. th-cam.com/video/2KT6HtK4oCY/w-d-xo.html
Hello great tutorial , I’m a beginner in Ai so I’ve reached the filling with lightings but its not showing only fill and no fill so what can I do to fix this issue
Send me your AI snapshot personally to my Facebook page. WITH APPEARANCE Panel open. facebook.com/VectorSlateTutorials
Hi! Very useful video, do you know how to make the similar effect of photoshop brush, when the symbol is changing its scale, rotation, color? I want to paint vegetables in a big bowl, so I'd like to repeat it by the simplest way. Thx a lot!
In Photoshop, create a brush shape of something you want. Then Turn it into a Brush from "Edit Menu".
Then Press "F5" to open brush preferences. there you can change all of the settings you mentioned in your question.
Good Luck.
Vector Slate | Graphic Design Tutorials thx for answer
You're welcome ☺
Vivek is his name!
How to create same shadow but in vector?
his name is Hector
Why the second drop shadow highlight the edge :-O
Tom Cruise!
Max Headroom
tom Cruze 100%
why is it that when i change the film grain it takes forever to render in preview mode, each time i change a value , but then you do it you can see the changes happen with out needing to render and fly through it, i have an 8th gen i5 and a mx150 GPU - weird
It takes a while if you are working on higher resolution. It was happening with me too. I just cut that part in this video. Otherwise this video would be a couple minutes longer.
I suggest you to turn Eye OFF for all the grain effect untill the end. So your working process goes smoother. When you are gonna export, turn those Grain back ON. I always do when project gets heavy for system.
thanks a lot, this really helped :)
also at the end of the video the artwork can been seen on a wider background, it looks very Hi res , any suggestions on how to to do this on a larger file like 1080*1920 - with a nice smooth gradient ? -
jos
i tried it and it worked great, except that the edges look really “pixely“, is that normal or did i make a mistake?
You will need to add offset path (from effects) there. With very small amount. I did that too.
@@vectorslategraphicdesigntu8991 oh ok, thank you!
Hi! Does anybody know how to add "thickness effect" for such kind of "paper layers" without Grain effect? Cause it makes art a bit "rasterize" Thanks.
I've added sharp drop shadow to make it look thick. Or if you don't wanna use drop shadow. Then duplicate that object > Change color to bit brighter > Move 1 or 2 points aside. You will get same look as Drop Shadow. Without "raster effects"
It makes sense. Thanks a lot!
Np, You're welcome!
He's Tony Kroos .
Yes. Tom Cruise.
Hey,
I have made the whole design but it is pixelated a lot please help me how to fix it.
Thank You.
Make sure Pixel Preview is OFF while working in Ai. Don't worry about Pixels in Ai window. You might be exporting in low resolution.
What is your Artboard Size & DPI while exporting?
@@vectorslategraphicdesigntu8991 HEY, my art board size is 750 x 750 px and the resolution was 300ppi, it was the highest resolution for exporting.
@@vectorslategraphicdesigntu8991 And how do I turn off pixel preview?
Go to View > Pixel Preview
Then there should not be any problem.. 🤔
It's Antonio Banderas)
That's The Zorro right?
But no. This is Tom Cruise. 😉
My preview isn't like yours at 9:21. You can't show the opacity options about the two fills..
On 9:21 I did not do anything with opacity. I just changed Blending Mode of Gradient Fill.
is that Tom Cruise's Silhouette ? LOL
Yes. Guessed it right!
Is Tom Cruise
Yes!
General Flynn?
Wrong!
Can I send you more ideas's link

Can I just ask what is the point of this design do people actually look for this
Nothing towards the design and the designer hes awesome just what is the point if it
Trends & Design Requirements. You can see these days, Graphic Design is not the same as it used to be. For example Broken typography, Abstract Poster with integrated photographs etc.. My goal to create these type of videos is to spark the ideas & creativity into learners. And make them familiar with the tools to get their ideas into Artboard. Mostly No one search for particular this video. TH-cam just show them and they actual watch and make their versions. There are quite few persons who actually tried this and shared them on Instagram. In short: Practice makes perfect. In everything.
That's awesome dude I have subscribed and tour work is great and u do open the mind to creativity. I actually sell prints etc and was wondering if this is something that people would buy as a business point of view. But as a creativity and learning point of view this is amazing truly is keep them coming dude your channel is awesome love it.
Even x2 was too slow for this video.
Look so cool but pls do this faster. I know youre doing this for us to understand but its so slow, you show everything :(
I know but majority of my viewers are beginners who often ask me to go slow i mean they don't want me to skip vital steps. I suggest you to change playback speed to 2x.
Vector Slate | Graphic Design Tutorials its a right point mate 👍🏻
yuupp than x
Just watch it at 1.5x speed?
Tom Cruise!
Tom Cruise !
Yup!
