Thank you for your effort of creating such a nice and in depth video. I like the dual G5s, I'm sure some day you'll complement them with a GFC500. Be careful entering those mushroom clouds, especially higher up, some TCU lurking there will break a plane, even a Mooney, but I’m sure you know that! Looking forward to the next video 👍.
Interesting that Bosco Radio told you "line up and wait" technically that is not their competence as they are just an information service, not controllers. They should have given you the traffic information and maybe just suggested waiting a bit before takeoff.
Very interesting and nicely done! Just some questions which would interest me: - Why didn't you join IFR earlier? Cloud tops over the alps? - During which month was this flight? I imagine it get's quite difficult with weather and freezing point from now on until spring. - Wasn't sure when you disengaged the autopilot. Was it the G5 which let the 1dot LOC deviation happen? - You had to switch manually to ILS Mode, right? - Do you always set 2000rpm on the ils? To reduce drag by the prop? I never go below 2200 but maybe that would be a try worth to see the difference.
Thanks. - IFR minimums crossing the Alps in that region in LF150/160. I don't want to go that high if I don't have to. Also would need OX. - May. With a non-FIKI airplane you need sunny days to cross the Alps during winter or at least be able to stay clear of clouds. - The G5 shows the NAV signal, but doesn't provide the signal to the AP. I learned that afterwards. The G5 only provids the AP with data when a HDG or GPS is supplied (GPSS). - Yes, aparently the GTN can swith automatically in the approach mode. However, it doesn't seem to work every time. - The engine is more efficient with lower RPM. I therefore often go with 1900RPM and mid-range MAP when I'm deliberately flying slowly or want to descent.
@@N1120A correct. The GTN used to provide LOC data directly to the STEC, but I removed that connection with the G5 install, because I assumed the G5 would foreward GPSS&LOC to the STEC (or at least send an emulated HDG signal to stay on the LOC). No it doesn't, it only provides GPSS steering. So, I'll have to reconnect the analog ILS/LOC/VOR connection from the GTN to the STEC.
On the days that I had to fly in situations like this (In Oregon / Washington) I wished that my Mooney was slower, not faster! ;-) I'm glad it worked out ok for you.
Thanks. I don't know where you can buy that particular headliner. It was already installed when I bought the aircraft. However, it is plastic that was sprayed with a relatively thick coat of paint, which makes it look pretty "fresh" although it's probably decades old. You might wanna consider that for your old one, in case it is servicable.
Hi, ich hatte dich im Bus am Flughafen angesprochen🤙🏽 Die Aero war mega, nach so langer Zeit. Vg aus der Schweiz

Würde mich über ein kurzes Update Video zu dem Unfall freuen. Was ist passiert? Wie hoch ist der Schaden? Totalverlust?

Mega Wie immer 🥰👍
Fabulous video, I really enjoyed it, thank you for sharing and keep up the great work 😃
I would always fly ON TOP i thjs kind of weather .. like you did later

I just want to say that you are living the dream. I hope you know that.
Greetings from EDFG
I sure do :-)

@@MikeVictorAviation with the GAD29B, the G5 can't provide the LOC guidance to the STEC? That's interesting.

I just saw the news today. Very sorry to hear about it, but I hope you are ok.
If you fly in mountains you need synthetic vision. I think an ipad can do it
Nice video ! From north of Italy to Germany, what kind of weather apps or websites did you check ? Thank you
I use "Weather pro" and "windy" + the briefing of autorouter
@@MikeVictorAviation thank you very much
Great video, I had a quick question. I am refurbing an “F” model and I like your headliner. Where could I get something like that? Thanks , Robert

Hi Super Video, echt Top! nur die Musik ist etwas laut und (entschuldige) nervt vielleicht etwas
It's a pity that such a great video is disturbed in places with sterile music that is far too loud.
