Dude! I love this song. I have been checking out dozens of covers lately and this popped up for me. True to the original Box Tops and yet all your own. Now a subscriber.
You are abso-fucking-lutely awesome. This is exactly what I needed to hear. Really. I typed 'Cocker Letter Accoustic' into the youtube and I got bunch of shit and tutorials. This is what I wanted. Thank you.
Any tips you can give to get to your level of playing? Are your solos based off of modes? you have a really cool jazz style half step thing going on, great feel!
Ian Hatch Good question brother! Wish I really had the answer. Listening to a lot of music helps, whatever you listen to ends up coming out your playing. Try transcribing your favorite solos, chord progressions and all that stuff. I don’t really think modes and not really great with knowing my modes but I do think chords when I play solos. If I don’t know the scales/modes that go over the chords I just try to play the notes that are in the chords.
Hey Great original version of someone else’s song. I was looking around at different versions after having a similar idea to what you’ve done, only with my three piece, and a bit louder too :-) If you ever make it to Australia, hit me up. We could be your backing a band :-) Take care. I’ll go check out some of your other stuff :-)
Keep playing. Joe Cocker fan. You've got this.
