It looks great. I will say as an owner of 2 biorbs that unless you’re super dedicated to keeping the moss moist, the biorb environment is not humid enough to grow moss successfully (at least in my experience). But keep us posted on the growth! I’m like you, I like to start with baby plants and watch them grow.

I find my terrarium moss on my hikes. I always bring a bag with me and collect interesting pieces of wood, rocks, plants and moss all from my hikes. I have 5 and every thing in them are from my hiking ventures. 😊

    It looks great!
You asked why I'm not a terrarium person: 1. I'm allergic to moss and don't know how to make a humid one without moss 2. I'm a control freak so letting it look sparse at first & hoping the plants will grow how I'd like is hard 3. I'm afraid I'll mess it up

  • @Fanciplants

Ohhh yes I'm definitely on the terrarium train. They are so mesmerizing and low effort. The biorb looks so much bigger than I imagined!

Terrariums saved my love for plants 😂 I was overwhelmed and stressed about life so I got a 40 gal fish tank and scaped it for a terrarium. I am so glad I did - all my favorite plants survived because I did it! I think you did a great job and I love seeing your creativity come out 😍😍😍

Your terrarium looks fantastic! I love it! Please remember to run your aquarium for at least a month and check your water parameters before adding fish. Good luck and have fun! I can’t wait for the fish tank video!

Same and great advice to cycle the tank first. It took us 4 months to cycle our 160L without bio!!! She's bloody worth it today. The way the water gives back to water the plants, perfect PH, nitrates for them & fish poop fertilizer. I can imagine Harley would be dangling many of her indoor plants in her fishtank ^_^ Unless she goes with salt water... ahahahaha

Instead of another fern behind the begonia, I'd think of adding another begonia, maybe 2 , a greener variety behind it, and either a pinker one in front of it, or maybe even a black begonia in front of the one in there. String of turtles would also be adorable near the other Peperomia.

This is awesome! I'm currently obsessed with terrariums and making a huge Ikea cabinet one! If you make one from scratch, grab the 'Pond & Stone' Great Stuff Foam instead of the regular stuff. It expands less, and is already waterproof (unlike the normal kind which will need DryLok or another sealer after carving). I look forward to seeing what you create!!

Having some small success with closed terraria (I got a blue ribbon at an orchid show for a macodes petola grown in a closed terrarium) has actually made me more chill and confident about having a prop box. Once I realized a prop box was essentially a closed terrarium for plants to root in I got way more patience and less worry about what's happening in there.

Hi Harli, that Biorb of yours is a really cool and that is a cool terrarium. If I had the room I would for sure get one, the one terrarium that I did have was this really cool stand that was older and had a plastic dome top and it was 2 feet wide and was 3 feet tall and I wish that I still had it, I can't remember what happened to it and where it went. I do like terrariums they are so much fun and really want another one someday. Thanks again for another fun video to watch and giving so many ideas and great suggestions to put this together again. I hope that you have a wonderful day, sending love and hugs, bye! 😍👋👍💜💜💜💞💚

Planted fish tanks can be so pretty - go for it! Love this terrarium. Good Job! Some of my favorite 'scramblers' that I like to add (because they help to cover up mistakes as they grow) are: Ficus pumila variegata, Tradescantia zebrina, and/or Meuhlenbeckia axillaris (Creeping Wire Vine). Your volunteer ferns look like a Maidenhair fern (Adiantum) - 'notorious' for piggybacking into nursery plants - I've got several of them as 'extras' in my houseplants. The bluish one looks like a 'Blue Star Fern' (Phlebodium aureum).

Looks so good! Agree on the second Parlor Palm, for a bit of a background. And for the messed up walls I would recommend taking those same long tweezers and like a paper tissue folded into a square and give those walls a wipe after watering. i’ve been doing terrariums for a couple of years. as far as the moss forage your own and soak in distilled water for 24 hrs. when you are hiking take from spots that seems similar to the terrarium it’ll be going into. so for moss on the wood like you’re wanting take that from a piece of wood in nature. my biggest tip is just to pack your terrariums full and let them grow in. it’s a lot easier to pull plants out if you don’t like them than you’d think so you can always be changing it.

Love the BioOrb. Future goals 😍. Those kinds of projects are always fun. As everything fills in a tad, I think you'll be glad you didn't put another Parlour Palm in on the other side, I think it would be too busy. Over time the Begonia will fill in, and will create a natural balance, plus draw your eye due to its colouring. It will look beautiful.
FYI: Fairly certain the fern is a Blue Star Fern (Phlebodium aureum), as I just bought one a few weeks back. It should be quite happy, as they are more hardy and a bit less moisture needy. Though, if it is really actually happy, it may take over, as they can grow I guess up to 3 feet or so.
Fun tip: I guess you can grow moss on rocks and such... by taking a clump of it, and putting in a blender w/buttermilk, and with the slurry you can paint over stuff. Never tried it myself, but is a good way to make a little bit go a long way.

I love terrariums and how they look but I gave up on them because I am too OCD and they look messy way too quickly for me with the water marks on the glass.
