  • Police responded to calls of two bald eagles who were stuck together and wouldn’t let go near 41st Ave. North and Nathan Lane in Plymouth Wednesday afternoon. Officers used towels to calm down the eagles and eventually separated their talons before the birds flew away.

      No. A better analogy would be a dog sicked on a cat. It may not completely be the dogs fault, but that doesn't help the felines.

    There's 2 things this could be
    1. It's a male & female that were in a Courting ritual it's called "The cartwheel courtship flight" where they chase each other in the air lock talons and start to fall to the ground & sometimes they don't let go and fall to the ground either could hurt or kill themselves 2. They could also be two males fighting.. Also no they are not "Mating" they only do that in the nest they build together or on a branch💯

  • @kenton6098
    @kenton6098 2 ปีที่แล้ว +43

    That’s part of a courtship display between a male and female. The internet is full of misinformation. Mine comes from an ornithologist.

    • @ffhd1clt
      @ffhd1clt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      True, and I work with a raptor rehab facility. They actually lock talons in flight for two reasons…courtship and territorially. It’s fairly common for them to hit the ground still locked together, and sometimes one or both end up at a facility like ours.

      @randomkinkajou5747 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No. It's definitely a fight. In a courtship display, they're meant to both let go before hitting the ground. These guys are simply locked in a fight.

    The courtship goes on at the nest , this was two adults in a territory battle and were exhausted on the ground and probably susceptible to overheating on the road surface.

    • @enthusiast1
      @enthusiast1 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Interesting... I thought mating... do we know nest is not near enough? Videos I've seen of courtship look like this and a nest is nowhere near in the sense of being right there where they are mating.... maybe nearby but not right at the scene. Do you see other attributes indicating this is not courtship?
