My intention with that "temporary ban" bit of the video isn't to call for full-on censorship. That's nuts. I was trying (and I guess failing) to express that those weird "12-hour suspensions" that Twitter does, literally don't do anything. They've performative-- so that they can then say they're doing something about disinformation.
I can see how making fun of temporary bans could imply that permanent bans were the go-to solution, and I could have been clearer in writing that bit. I'm actually perfectly fine with no noise to fill the silence. In fact, it's great. I think more people should try it more often. We might have fewer problems in the world if people actually took time to think about things instead of having to react to everything at every moment.
Agree, but we have to admit that it's more of a luxury at this point. We wouldn't have all these innovations and technologies that have improved our state of living if our species didn't socialize and share ideas. So there is a balance there. Problem is some people can only learn through real trial and error and not critical thinking. You know....the kind of person you tell to not touch a hot stove but they do it anyway. But hey, pain is a good teacher.

Well, there is so much fine print, you'd never be doing anything else if you read all of it trying to comprehend what it actually means. For the most part, consumers are forced to trust it's all common sense and standard practice. I feel like it is, or should be, illegal to exploit that, and hide something in a cryptic phrasing on page 53

In human-to-human interactions, an agreement is at least theoretically something to which both parties have input, vs. so-called agreements we engage in with social media & other virtual world entities. Rather than true agreements, these are complicated, often one-sided rules handed down by fiat, to which a user must “agree,” or forfeit any right to use the service. There is no recourse for users - it is strictly a “take it or leave it” deal, which in itself I think tends likewise to disincentivize a trip down the fine-print rabbit hole.
The only problem is that corporations aren't the only ones taking advantage of others. There's also that person who makes a living out of suing companies, leaning on loopholes. In a large, complex society, trust and dialog are hard to sustain.
I missed the part when guys are constantly banned from the party for month because their political ideology is different from the host'.
I do not speak about anything harmful, but things like 'you are banned for 7 days because you forwarded/retweeted a post from a known athlete who supported his country about hosting the Olympics'.
I have more personal examples (dozens) but i think that's the weirdest.

Some people do read books in silence, until they get interrupted by their social media feed which they are on because one or more of their relatives will be very cross that they don't know about this big thing in the family that was announced on social media only because that way everyone will know.

Commenting on an old unrelated video because I have an intense need to shout this to the world: I tried sheets & giggles. Legit the best sheets I’ve ever used. It’s not just marketing bs, they got noticeably softer after washing, and I’ve been consistently impressed every time I’ve climbed into bed with these sheets. Yes they’re expensive sweets, but they also FEEL like luxury sheets. Anyone who has the means to afford those sheets should definitely try them
And of course it should be the government that gets to decide what is officially "true" is because if history shows us anything it's that nobody in the government has ever been biased or politically motivated. And even though both parties regularly take money from lobbyist and push laws favorable to that lobby they really are neutral in their decision making. And it's totally a coincidence that senior government leaders (both civilian and military) will retire from the government, then get high paying "consultant" jobs at companies with government contracts. Total coincidence.
Ryan really got the whole ad thing down, I actually like to stay after the video purely for the adstronaut. Not many youtubers are able to make you happy with the sentence "this video is sponsored by.... more about them at the end of the sketch"

@Anne Day Amazon did. They shut down the servers. It took them months to get back up but they lost their momentum of new joiners.
@Anne Day Yes they were using Amazon server services. Turns out there are only a handful of companies that can handle things at that scale of a social media type of site and Amazon was one of the very few. Piracy sites are just web pages with bit torrent links which is peer to peer and not downloaded from the site directly. They don.t have the bandwidth needs you seem to think they do.
They didn’t violate Amazons terms of use. They were in the process of handling problematic posts, Amazon asked them to take action and they were and they were cut off without further discussion while they were still working the problem. The problematic posts by the vast majority were appearing on Twitter and Facebook.

They also sexually assult little boys too. A couple of weeks ago they dismembered a man because he was in a homosexual relationship. It sounded like you thought the talibans shouldn't be posting anything on the basis that they took over a country, which seemed inconsistent. If they really are bragging about their war crimes, then yes, they should be kicked out.
However, why do you think it's inherently better when another country takes over instead of a terrorist group? To use an extrem example, the nazis had a very official army and all, that didn't stop them from commiting crimes at a scale that makes the talibans look like cute puppies.
