Hi Dr Stephens, Dr Christiana ( Cape Coast, Ghana). Just found your videos and I'm glad I did. Greetings to the rest of the UTAH team. We can't wait for your next coming 😊
This happened to me and I had to go to the ER. By the time the surgeon arrived and the OR was prepped it turned into a near death experience. I wish it on NO ONE. HUGE blood clots were coming out of my throat and nose. Constant vomiting of blood and swallowing it into my stomach. I could literally feel myself becoming weaker and weaker like the life was draining out of me. Also I arrived during change of shift and the third shift nurse didn't want to deal with any trauma at the end of her shift. I could not talk due to blood clots dangling out of my mouth but was pointing at my face. She came over, pulled the curtain shut and began talking to her coworker about her beach trip she was looking forward to with her boyfriend. Terrible experience.
Same thing happened to me kept going to the doctor for several days who kept giving me pills I couldn't swallow. I requested to see someone else who informed me to go straight to emergency room my tonsils were bleeding down my throat. I was so scared I hurried up and went there praying I didn't have an accident was rushed into emergency and next thing I know I was out. Woke up to my husband being in the room couldn't talk and stayed there overnight next day was sore but, was released. I could have died had I just went along with that idiot who kept trying to give me pills. If I wasn't eating what makes him think I can swallow pills.
I'm on day 8 post op. I started noticing blood two nights ago and it caused me to panic. I got it under control but didn't go into the ER. It happened twice last night over a couple of hours. Each time was only for a few minutes. My scabs are coming off but they tend to come off at night while I'm sleeping
@@TheTinyOrc actually yeah. I was part of like 5% of people that had a bleed that required going back under. Basically my surgeon stitched my throat because I have extra tissue and I unfortunately popped those stitches. But you'll know if you need to go in. When that happened I bleed for an hour straight. If it's only for a bit and stops, it's frustrating but you should be good.
@@agunimon161 On day 6 I was spitting out blood for 30m then it stopped, not much pain when it was bleeding. Idk if it’s a lot. My saliva was bright bloody for sure. On day 8 today. I spat out a huge bright red saliva after brushing my teeth then no more bleeding after. Should I be okay? The pain did ramp up to 8-9 and it hurt to my ear to my temples from day 6-7. Swallow does hurt still. I can’t tell if it’s normal or not honestly. It not longer bleeding atm.
@@TheTinyOrc you should be good. There is a pain regression when scabs fall off because your tissue is fresh. If you bleed and it won't stop don't hesitate to go in. You got this!
@@agunimon161 Its day 9 man that pain was hell. But woke up the pain went from 8-10 to a coasting 3-4 heaven bro! it also helped I brushed my teeth twice a day I felt that was the game changer. Thanks for the reaasurance I really appreciate it.
I hemorrhaged several times last week and ended up having emergency surgery last Monday when cautery at ER wouldn't work. The ice water technique and ice pack on neck stopped the bleeding at home the first time and slowed it the second time but when the ENT tried removing the massive clot it bled fast. Then he xaugerized it and was about to leave to his next scheduled surgery when i suddenly began vomiting blood everywhere and it came so fast. He burned my tongue trying to cauterize again and I held suction and cotton compress on metal tool to back of throat but it kept coming. Got dizzy. Rushed to OR and stopped it. Terrible experience. So much blood. Hard to not panic when the clot began closing my airway.
@@zoraplays1009 good luck. What a nightmare. I'm finally feeling less pain but I am still having super tiny bleeds that come and go and I'm day 19/13 post op/post emergency op. Freaks me out every time but it responds to ice. Just spots of blood, not cups of blood so there's that. Good luck!!!
On my 8th day of healing after tonsillectomy I be an to bleed. Up to this point had not been able to eat at all. Only liquid, ice pops, etc. I began to bleed and went to ER to gets help. Continued bleeding and had to Stayed there for 6 hours u til I was admitted for surgery.
I heard a pssssss and felt the blood squirting in my throat and I saw around a shot glass worth of blood. It lasted 4 or 5 seconds and then stopped hissing blood. The doctors in the hospital don't believe me that it squirted blood because "a vein won't squirt and an artery won't stop" I'm in hospital but they want to sent me home after 24hrs... can a vein squirt???
I think you are underestimating the risk related to bleeding after tonsillectomy. The who is bleeding and not able to stop it must urgently go to ER. Don’t take any risk.

What about if blood clots are coming up when throwing up the blood
This was so helpful thank you
thank you very much !
Why won’t the patient stay for sometime in the hospital before going home, such as to watch the patient for any possible complications?
I feel like the doctor mislead me and i was panicking i had about hafe a cup of blood come out on day nine which scared the shit out of me

Hey all - what was the reason for your tonsillectomy? What symptoms did you have?
I think you are underestimating the risk related to bleeding after tonsillectomy.

Super.
Can I wear My cpap mask after having the surgery ???
I hemorrhaged 15-16 days after my tonsillectomy
How di avoid bleeding?
I just had 9/10 pain then I started to bleed and now the pain is at a 4/10 and I can open my mouth. I've never been so happy to bleed.
Lol me too
Same here 😂
It was on and off for me. The bleeding calm the pain. Then the opposite ramped up the pain
