Loved the dancing at the end! It shows how everything comes together in a traditional setting. I'm always interested in the Metis bead work as you can see the blending of Native American and European influences.
Love it, extroidenary workmanship and great share. Lived in claremore oklahoma for years while in school. Almost all my friends were native american. My first girlfriend too. Fine folks. Blessins my fine friends🧡
These are beautifully and conscientiously made artwork and has to be preserved from generation to generation. The traditional dance is perfectly executed and very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
My late husband has a metis sash and I have a beaded Yukon crest which I value. It brings me back to my two Yukon trips a long time ago where the indigenous people were undervalued. Happily, they are now making some headway. Thank you for this lovely film showing their beadwork. I am happy that they have not lost this great talent. Joan
Gosh, Donna. This was really an amazing vid that was thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you for getting up close on the clothing so we could see the detail. So packed full of information and great narrating. Beautiful!
Thank you Suz! I admire the beadwork a lot and it shows up in my paintings sometimes too. I was taking reference images for that purpose but found I collected enough for a small video.
Loved the beadwork on clothing items you show and the history you tell. We've seen some too in museums both out in the western states and here in Wisconsin. Right on Madeline Island where we did recent videos they have a museum with many local Indigenous folks items including beaded clothing. It hasn't been open for the better part of 2 years though because of the pandemic situation. Hopefully we'll get in later this year. Loved the celebration at the end and we enjoyed your video, Donna.
Thank you so much Dave & Kathy! That's too bad about the museum but maybe they will be able to open this year again. I always like seeing the Indigenous artifacts that are preserved in museums. I love getting to see pow-wows and was very happy to see the one I filmed a few years ago. Hopefully I will be able to see some dancing again this year.
I SAW SOMETHING NEW TODAY, LOVED BEING INTRODUCED WITH A NEW CULTURE AND ITS LOVELY TRADITIONAL THINGS. THE BEAD WORKS ON THE BACK OF THE DRESS SEIZED MY MIND, TRUELY SAYING. ALSO THE BEADS ON THE RED CLOTH WAS TOO GOOD.
The filming allows us to feel the beauty in the beadwork firsthand. And, Donna, your narration is beautiful also. A fine, fine sharing of the evolution of beadwork. Beautiful drumming at the end, too. Thank you. LInda
Thank you Donna for sharing the history of the beadwork and the materials used. How cherished and precious this clothing is. Wonderful images of the artwork and celebration at the end. Best regards, Cathy
It's hard to imagine that Indians used to make thousands of beads to decorate a single item. Interesting note is that the Inuit used sinew and the finest was the sinew along the spine. It was the first thing harvested from the killed caribou and was considered the most valuable (reference from the book "I Inuit") Fascinating information, Donna! 🤗👍
Yes, indeed. This traditional Beadwork look very pretty! I like them. It is so detailed and so elaborate. Actually, much too good to be worn as clothing. Happy Sunday!
Thank you very much for sharing the wonderful beaded items and drumming by the indigenous tribes. The beaded items are so, so beautiful. Thank very much for sharing.
Beadwork is such a work of art!!! it's hard to imagine how much work and diligence was put in this beautiful clothes. The muisic also so unique and beautiful, its great to learn new cultures together with you
Those garments are very beautiful. Once upon a time people valued such things. I often feel it is a shame how technology has devalued such beautiful creations. Nice video and the background drumming was very fitting😊👍
I've seen those when I went to Nevada. All of them including those in this video are amazingly beautiful🤩 Loved their dance, too!! Thanks for sharing, Donna!!👏
It's very nice exhibition. I feel that pattern very familiar. I'm sure the connection of the native North American and Asian culture !! Thank you for sharing !!
This is so awesome! It reminds me of my mom used to have one sandal made out of all beads. I remember as a kid i am totally in love with it...of course now to look back no where to be found, only in my memory, if she still alive then 100 years ago...This traditional beadwork is so incredible of how much time they have to do it one by one beads. Enjoy so much in full. Thanks for sharing! Subscribed! Please connect! Have a great week!

Very true. It's very neat to see how beadwork has changed over the years. It's become easier to create and yet it's become more complex.

Oh that is cool to know, I didn't know the spine sinew was highly valued but it makes sense, it would be nice and long.
@@DonnaTaibossigai Maybe that's why!
