I talk through lure choice, retrieves, tides and what to look for when using side scan. I hope you enjoy this months video and please don’t hesitate to ask any questions. Next lure restock is Friday March 31st.

    SOOOOOO SICK. I've looked forward to this vid for so long. You're such a legend James. A while ago I saw you on the water up the river and you gave me some plastics. After I caught my first jewfish on a swim prawn which I bought, I went on to catch my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th ever jewies over the next 3 days. Thanks for helping me catch some dream fish.

    Great fishing James. Just found the channel, I’m amazed how good the fishing is there. Since you asked for some feedback, I’d like to see some chest or head mounted GoPro, would give the fishing a bit more of a visceral feeling, particularly on those strikes. Great channel, subbed.

    @danielboone4173 ปีที่แล้ว

    What stick are you using at the start? I noticed it wasn’t a miller.
    Also have you changed the formula of your plastic? The latest batch I got seen more flexible than the early stuff.
    Keep up the good work lord,killing it!

      Thanks mate, it’s a rod from years ago, daiwa gekkabijin, it’s been sitting there not being used for years so I chucked it in the boat, still using the same plastic, the consistency can change from drum to drum slightly

    • @holtproductionsfish

      Yeah I think I’ll have to up the leader .. been smoked a few times here .. 8lb leader with swimprawns .. wasn’t in the fight .. I suspect red dog .. my problem is my FG knots suck and I use Miller rods too with small guides .. cheers mate .. love your lures. Steve

    • @holtproductionsfish
      @holtproductionsfish  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yea I would work on the FG knot , it’s a pain to get right but worth putting the time into, you can run a lot heavier drag for leader size, it’s incredible how much 8lb main to 10lb leader will hold with the FG, can sometimes be hard to break the line when snagged on a tree

    What heavier miller rod were you running to throw your bigger prototype swim prawn?

    • @holtproductionsfish
      @holtproductionsfish  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s actually a custom job he made me, 9’6” for throwing over shallow rocks, allows me to keep a higher line angle and get longer casts 👌

    Keen to know how you found those fish, seems it could be quite easy to miss on the sidescan, did you have a rough idea where they'd be or were you just searching really slowly???

    • @holtproductionsfish
      @holtproductionsfish  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really good question mate! I’ll definitely address that in the next video, a lot of the time these fish won’t show up sounding at speed with the outboard, I’ll pick a few spots and drift through and keep an eye on the sounder, when sounding at speed I will generally be looking for the correct depth and structure

    • @zekeydoodle
      @zekeydoodle ปีที่แล้ว

      @@holtproductionsfish that would be awesome if you could show the process, I'm pretty new to having a decent boat and sidescan etc so any info/help no matter how small is helpful, not after your spots (I'm southside anyway and would prefer the reward of finding my own spots) just want to learn how to interpret the sounder better, it's a learned skill after all....
