SP Blackwidow I made one and it worked for me. I just had to make sure the block of wood was positioned correctly so wire moved the points from one side to the other.
RockIslandmodeler - Wow! that is awesome! I'm glad you found some use from this video. Thank you for letting me know. and yes the position of the wooden block is the most trickiest part. I screw the 2 screws from the top first just enough to where the tip of the screw is showing under the layout. then I place the wooden block under the tip of the screws then push the block up so that it can make a indentation showing me where I need to drill holes using a drill bit. I'm sure is not the best solution but it has worked for me:) maybe you can upload a video showing how it turned out:) of course if you want.
RockIslandmodeler - thank you! it is wire that was tossed from where I work. I would try wire hangers or even plastic rods from evergreen plastics. Most of my layout is from recycled material :)
Great innovation and on a budget...cheers

#16 awg solid copper wire works well too
Where did you get the long stiff wire that runs horizonal to your switch machine? That's a very good idea you have there.

I like this method! I might have to draw something up and try to 3D Print a housing (just because I'm a bit of a geek)
Chad Portenga please make sure upload the finish product. I sure would like to see it. Thanks for viewing and the comment.
@@spbloodynose Sure thing, but I'm still a long way to getting to that point. (I still need to empty the area in my basement and build the table.....)
