Thank you for the content. I am about to pick mine up in a day or two. I have my gunsmith on call to lighten the trigger pull, would you recommend anything else such as stipling, polishing the feed ramp, lightening/replacing the recoil spring. Etc. I am very psyched since this will be my first double stack.
No problem! I would recommend shooting it first, put a couple hundred rounds through it before any adjustments. Then have it tuned to where you like it. This way you get their intended feel for it and and you know exactly what to change. You may like the trigger, it may be just fine for you. The recoil spring will be stiff but will break in nice. I have some slow motion footage going up soon. Eventually you may be able to lighten it off that is your taste. See how the grip works and if you like it, I did the swap and love it, the stock grip isn't great but isn't bad. Plenty of options out there. It's a great gun. Mine is now over 1000 rounds with no issues
I completely agree with you on this safety matter. They messed up there. The wide shoe should most definitely be on the left for right handed shooters. Will this be an easy swap to do?
It's not hard to swap, it does require fitting though. I think most people could watch a video and get it done. Mosin Virus has a whole bunch of videos about building these on TH-cam as well as others.
@a.d.c7941 no problem. I would first watch the video and see how you feel about it. Ask yourself if you are comfortable with the job and are you willing to be responsible for it getting done correctly. Some people are not comfortable with doing that stuff and place the reliability in the hands of a professional. I don't know what your skill set is and how much work on these things you've done yourself. I view it as easy, but a lot of others do not. I think that guy's explanation and video showing you how to do it will let you know if you are comfortable with accomplishing it. Good safeties are not exactly cheap, and if you mess it up you'll be buying another one lol.
Yeah I've seen a few of those reports coming out, those sites are definitely different. That's good news, hopefully they take care of the people who already bought that want it taken care of.
I was on the fence with a DWX, PDP Match, Shadow 2 or this. I think I’ll give this a shot! (No pun intended lol). Thanks for the video and hope I can find a threaded barrel to suppress as well 🤙🏾
Those would all be solid choices. They are all on my list. I have a shadow 2 compact and of course the DWX. Tisas makes a threaded barrel version called the night stalker but it's different. Check it out if you like, but that said maybe they will hit us with a threaded barrel for this since day. You can always have one made and fitted by a gun Smith, it fit it yourself. Thanks for showing some love!
I hope you don’t mind me asking couple of questions: 1.What would you recommend to lower the trigger pull to 3.5lbs instead of 5.5lbs?change the sear and/or the spring sear? If so which brand?(EGW,Dawson) 2.Would you recommend to replace the main spring with 17LBS? 3.As far as the recoil spring goes, would you replace it?
I would recommend you watch the Atlas sear spring tuning video. It will teach you how to modify the bends on the seat spring. The sear and ignition system in gun is fine from what I've seen. You can lower the pull weight this way. The firm wall will stay like it's supposed to. You can control the reset this way too. Set your over travel screw while you are at it. I recommend breaking the gun in, the recoil and main spring are fine. It seems heavy but will smooth out some. My gun runs reliably, isn't sluggish, muzzle doesn't dip on slide return and the recoil is soft. I think it's sprung correctly.... For now. Might monkey with it when I get down the road. Recoil spring running can be subjective.
Hey Money Shot, you’ve become my main resource! Thanks again for ur help- have you tried putting a red dot on the Mac 9. I can’t get the base plate off at all after unscrewing the 2 main screws. Thanks so much!
Thanks man! Yeah I have a red dot on it, update video coming soon. I will check mine when I get home, I can't remember if there is a 3rd screw, in the center by the sight itself. I can't remember if it's the Mac, or the staccato P or both. If there is no center screw by the sight then you may want to take something like a hammer with a plastic tip to tap on it a little bit. I'll check it out when I get home, and advise.
@matthedrick9874 So I checked my site when I got home, there are only two screws. It must have been the staccato I was thinking of that had three screws. I would advise you to take a hammer with a plastic in and tap on it don't hit your gun or mess the side up. Another way is is you can put a washcloth or some fabric over it and lock onto the site with a pair of pliers and try to leverage it off. Your goal here is to not damage the sights or the slide, with a little pressure it should come off as long as you got both screws out.
I'll have to look, I think there are two that work. One leaves a little Gap between the trigger guard and the other one snugs it up and I can't remember which one. I'm not near it right now
It's supposed to be included in the box, did you buy yours new? Or second hand? Either way I would contact SDS imports customer service and have them ship one out, they may have one listed on their site but since it's so new I doubt it.
Oh yeah. I'm just getting started. I plan on making videos on all of them. That's a great idea to put them in order like that. Not sure how soon I'll get to it but I will. I'm just sharing what I have and when I spend my money on. Just off the top of my head I can tell you that the DWX shoots the softest but the Mack 9 DS is right there with it. And felt recoil The macro with the compensator is not as good as those two, but it has a much quicker return to zero I'll tell you that.
Yeah, I talked to them and that is what they said, but that is not the normal with 2011. A right-hander will ride the left side safety with his thumb while shooting. At least that is how most do. To me, A wide safety doesn't dig into my side any more than normal. It's all good though it works either way. I'm probably going to replace the safety on this eventually, a good one is just so expensive though
Do you think you could do an install video for the Villian Grip Mod and reducing the trigger pull? Would love to imitate your set up if i knew what to do!

I just got this the other day and it’s my first ds 1911 and I’m having issues where when I rack the slide a round chambers but I take out the mag and bullet falls out or is almost tilting up and out the magazine do you have any ideas on what it could be?
If what you're saying is around Chambers, and then you drop the bag and the round that chambered is still in the chamber and one falls off the top of the mag or is ready to fall off, it sounds like a magazine issue. Do you have the same problem with multiple magazines? There's an atlas magazine feed lip tuning video you may need to check out. It's just my guess but it sounds like what's going on just by your description.
So you mean the Mac 9DS itself or versus others? To me it shoots as soft as most other Commander size 2011s, but not as soft as the staccato p. I should state that I don't value soft recoil over return to zero, it has a nice return to zero. I have later videos of testing out different spring rates if you care to watch it in slow motion.
Werkz m6 for 1911 and 2011s, I did a whole video on it, check it out here th-cam.com/video/dQEer0zv9qc/w-d-xo.html And another one here, Mckinatec th-cam.com/video/0DcbI_r7OvI/w-d-xo.html
I rarely carry appendix, everything I carry is strong side. On occasion I do have to stuff this thing in my pants appendix it's just fine walking around, but for me there's no sitting LOL. The Werkz is great, I like it better than my Tier1 and McKinatec Holsters designed around the TLR1. It's got a built-in wedge type thing that works great
@MoneyShot_CM Nice. I hear you with the appendix. I can appendix an Echelon w/o a light kinda ok. Sitting is definitely the uncomfortable part. Just grabbed a tisas 4.25 and was considering the werks tlr1 for appendix but don't think it's gonna work our great!
@@mattblack133 congrats on the purchase, mine is still running great. I got tired of being uncomfortable It wanted to carry my larger guns so I switched to carrying at about 3:30 and never look looked back. Sometimes if I'm in a situation where I'm getting in and out of the car and I'm going places where I can't carry I'll carry appendix because it's easier to put in place in a hurry.
No, the 1911/2011 slide is too narrow to mount properly. The screw homes are wider than the frame. Almost all 1911s have plate systems, there's only a few that have custom slides that are flared out. Not this one
Sorry to hear that, I've never seen one offered with a 10 rounder. When I get a chance I'll look around a bit. Maybe they will be out soon, did you contact SDS? I've got a big update on this coming tomorrow
So much money wasted on aftermarket parts that do little to nothing. A trigger good is always a good improvement if the OME trigger sucks, but to each its own, baller.
Yeah some people just change parts to have something to do I guess. That's the great thing about this, it doesn't need an aftermarket trigger or ignition parts. I just adjusted the springs and the trigger is perfect! I did replace the grip though, the OEM one was not attractive or grippy enough.
It was 318.00 with discount. 2011 grips aren't cheap. You can get some for around 200, most are polymer. This one is carbon fiber, kevlar and nylon, feels like g10 sort of, not plastic. I think it's worth it. Very aggressive, doesn't eat up my hands. Better than a lot of high end stock 2011 grips. You think this is expensive, price out some metal ones, like cheely, Phoenix Trinity, SVI, Vulcan etc. Those are all North of 500, dive some far north lol Definitely not for everyone, I feel you.
Mac 1911 DS is starting to make noise and then....? TH-cam channels like 'the humble marksmen' and 'nightwood guns' rip into it. Highlighting whats 'wrong' with it without recognizing its value. Are their sponsors pushing them to do this? I'm confused. 😖
@MoneyShot_CM I''ve watched some of their reviews before and they are quick to downplay the cons of Prodigy, Apollo and highlight the pros and even seem enthusiastic. But on the MAC, it just seemed downright nuclear. Seemed the "review" had one intention and they seemed upset to have to review it. Lol
So I just got home, and I did watch those two reviews that you mentioned. I didn't see any problems with humble's review, it had a different feeling than night woods. I would say night woods fits kind of what you're saying, it was odd. Humble's Gun looks like it had some problems, mine didn't. It's weird to me how some people get so negative on a 1911 trigger system when you could fix it without parts in a couple minutes. I agree with them about the grip though LOL I swap mine out almost immediately.
I can understand that completely. I was very hesitant myself. What helped me make the decision to give it a shot was talking with a lot of owners in the 1911 community. They have a great reputation with that crew. I was also impressed with how Tisas handled a voluntary recall recently. Of course I'd love to always buy American, but I think we have a lot of manufacturers from other countries producing great guns and ammo. This version was designed by Military armament corporation in Knoxville TN and built by Tisas, that helps a little. For the price point I figured let's give it a shot and share the experience. If this things starts to have issues, I'll be there first one putting it out there. I love Staccato and what they stand for, I just don't love the prices. After I finish my custom build 2011 that is coming up I may pick up Staccato P. I shot an XC and it was great, lowest recoil I've ever felt, but it wasn't 2200 more money great when compared with my DWX. I'm going to run this thing pretty hard, let's see if it fails. Right now it's really good, So good I don't feel the need to rip out the internals and replace them with aftermarket parts.
Honestly I carry the Mac just about every day. All you need is a good gun belt and the right holster. This isn't even the biggest gun I carry. Sometimes I carry a full size dwx. This is only a commander size 4.25-in gun, plenty of people carry those everyday. Some people even carry them with built-in sidecars with extra magazines on the holster LOL. My CZ p10c is 4 in, My X macro is just as long because of the comp on it. S2C is 4 inches as well. To each their own man, everybody's different. Carrying a large gun is really about the size of the grip. Smaller the grip the better, the length doesn't matter too much. But as long as you got a good holster with a claw on the tux that grip in makes it a lot easier
Hard to tell without seeing it, I do run a lot of games with very little pre-travel. I think it's all person taste. There is a point where it becomes unsafe and I forget how to test it, if I can find a video or the article on it later when I'm free I'll let you know. Do you got a video of it you can send me the link?

It's not hard to swap, it does require fitting though. I think most people could watch a video and get it done. Mosin Virus has a whole bunch of videos about building these on TH-cam as well as others.
Thank u very much man!
Newer models seem to have higher/taller sights. At keast mine does
Yeah I've seen a few of those reports coming out, those sites are definitely different.
I hope you don’t mind me asking couple of questions:
1.What would you recommend to lower the trigger pull to 3.5lbs instead of 5.5lbs?change the sear and/or the spring sear? If so which brand?(EGW,Dawson)
2.Would you recommend to replace the main spring with 17LBS?
@@MoneyShot_CM Thank you!!!
@@MoneyShot_CM awesome sounds good
@matthedrick9874 So I checked my site when I got home, there are only two screws.
@@MoneyShot_CM thank you for the advice! Will update you how it goes!
Thanks for the video! Hey what key did u use for the tlr1? Mine doesn’t seem to fit well unless I don’t use a key at all. Any suggestions?
I'll have to look, I think there are two that work. One leaves a little Gap between the trigger guard and the other one snugs it up and I can't remember which one. I'm not near it right now
No worries. Whenever you can look that would be awesome. Thanks.
how much do those grip modules typically run? I thought i saw them for around $350
They start at 374 but there's a discount code out there for 15% off it takes them down to like 325 or something
@@MoneyShot_CM nice. I'm about to order the MAC right now lol. I'm just trying to plan out what I wanna do to it
Where can I get a mounting plate from a sro on the Mac 9 ds mine wasn’t provided if it was supposed to come with one
It's supposed to be included in the box, did you buy yours new? Or second hand? Either way I would contact SDS imports customer service and have them ship one out, they may have one listed on their site but since it's so new I doubt it.
Will you rank the accuracy and recoil of the guns you shot?
Finally someone thought of lefties 😂
I have heard the thumb safety is like that so as not to dig into the body when carrying
I'm just getting started and making videos, to share my experiences. I'm just not there yet and comfortable with sharing a how-to video. I posted two videos that will help you a lot more than I could, did you see those links?
Yes sir I understand! I’m sure you’d do great this was a great video from starting off!
Do not see those links where can I find them?
@@matthedrick9874 You and I were talking in a thread on a different video. It was in the Roger Barrera QVO thread, I posted those two links in a response to you. I don't know if they allowed them to be posted, it looks like they delay the visibility of comments. Did you see anything there? If not I can repost them here
@@MoneyShot_CM just checked that thread, haven’t gotten a response on my feed yet- I appreciate your help!
@@matthedrick9874 No worries man I'll get you the links here in a few minutes and we'll do it on my thread cuz there won't be any delay or anyone else approving comments
How would you rank those guns in terms of softest shooting?
So you mean the Mac 9DS itself or versus others? To me it shoots as soft as most other Commander size 2011s, but not as soft as the staccato p.
I should state that I don't value soft recoil over return to zero, it has a nice return to zero. I have later videos of testing out different spring rates if you care to watch it in slow motion.
Let's talk about holsters for it.
There are two holster videos on my channel, here is one
th-cam.com/video/dQEer0zv9qc/w-d-xo.html
what holster is that?
Werkz m6 for 1911 and 2011s, I did a whole video on it, check it out here
th-cam.com/video/dQEer0zv9qc/w-d-xo.html
And another one here, Mckinatec
th-cam.com/video/0DcbI_r7OvI/w-d-xo.html
Hows that thing appendix with the tlr1 and the werkz?
Is the slide not rmr cut for direct mount?
No, the 1911/2011 slide is too narrow to mount properly. The screw homes are wider than the frame. Almost all 1911s have plate systems, there's only a few that have custom slides that are flared out. Not this one
I live in a ten round state, and can't find it just in 10rd magazines.
Sorry to hear that, I've never seen one offered with a 10 rounder. When I get a chance I'll look around a bit. Maybe they will be out soon, did you contact SDS? I've got a big update on this coming tomorrow
I love you.
Lol uhh thanks
So much money wasted on aftermarket parts that do little to nothing. A trigger good is always a good improvement if the OME trigger sucks, but to each its own, baller.
Yeah some people just change parts to have something to do I guess. That's the great thing about this, it doesn't need an aftermarket trigger or ignition parts. I just adjusted the springs and the trigger is perfect! I did replace the grip though, the OEM one was not attractive or grippy enough.
$400 for a grip is insane 😂
Not sure, I haven't seen either of those guys rip into yet, haven't seen any real negative yet, I may have missed it I'll look later
Mine is still running great
@MoneyShot_CM I''ve watched some of their reviews before and they are quick to downplay the cons of Prodigy, Apollo and highlight the pros and even seem enthusiastic.
I will stick with my staccato p. I don’t trust the Turks just yet!
They're politically twofaced and borderline traitorous
Honestly, who’s gonna carry something that big consistently every day. Ridiculous.
Lol… I carry an STI Guardian 2011 … no issues. Some days, I will carry an STI Tactical 4.0 2011 in .45ACP… again, no issues… bulk up buttercup 😊
@@blueyedevil3479 something satisfying about carrying that big iron on your hip lol!
I just got this grip, installed my atlas trigger, i had the same very small amount of pre travel. Is it safe with that little?
@MoneyShot_CM
Hard to tell without seeing it, I do run a lot of games with very little pre-travel. I think it's all person taste. There is a point where it becomes unsafe and I forget how to test it, if I can find a video or the article on it later when I'm free I'll let you know. Do you got a video of it you can send me the link?
@@MoneyShot_CM I'll make a video later today. Love the grip. Just working through the fitting at this point.
@DrasticFire I run that trigger on other guns and I adjusted with very little take up too, it's nice. I'll talk to you then
