"We led the country to liberation and now there is no place for us," complains former guerrilla leader Cornelio Gama. He's angry that the government won't give him a war pension and has denied him a place on the security force. And he's threatening to raise an army to fight for veterans' rights. It's a move that has won him widespread support. But it's also attracted the wrath of his former ally Prime Minister Alkitiri. "He has no right to build another security force. If he keeps doing it, I will use the authority of the police to block him." But Alkitiri's moral stance is somewhat compromised by allegations that he's accepted millions of dollars of bribes. The government is under pressure, the war veterans are frustrated and now -- to add to the tension -- the peacekeepers are leaving.

No.1 I agree that oil exploitation in the Timor Sea should be allowed to be done in East Timor absolutely. Oil sucks, it`s the cause of a lot of wars. We should all be driving electric cars ; ) How come your channel page says Malaysia? Work? Regarding "conquest" of East Timor - We didn`t invade or conquer East Timor we are helping the U.N peacekeeping force.
Wrong. Australians never invaded East Timor. By the way, over 1500 Australians died defending Malaysia during world war II and they had the highest death count per capita of any country in that battle because they didn`t try to retreat as much as the other troops defending Malaysia. Australian troops also defended Malaysia in 1948 against the communists and in the 1960`s when the President of Indonesia Sukarno threatened to "crush Malaysia" if you did not give them Sarawak and Sabah.
I don't think Portugal would do something like that anymore in the near future. They'll be dealing with their unemployment rate first. And of course, they'll focus on getting the bailout from Germany first. While at the same time Timor Leste would be losing their nation's dignity if they keep begging anything from the international world.
Not to mention that Indonesia (well, East Java province to be exact) is still dropping Timor Leste rice. I don't think Timor Leste would be that shallow.

What I mean is that I think the Australian government should allow East Timor to exploit the oil/gas reserves in the sea area which is currently inside the Australian border. I guess the problem is that the border was decided with Indonesia before the creation of the new East Timor.
