I think original one from Chris got more total harmonic distortion and got really smooth curve, like more lows and with almost a deesser build in. SSL in/out thing with dry/wet knob is a great idea for the Bluey.

Here is the problem - BLA installed a 'buffer' that replicated the sound of the compressor going into his SSL channel strip - as to make a complete package of his sound for the end user - BUT, that means if you ACTUALLY HAVE an SSL, or are say - doing a shootout at CLA's studio as Sweetwater did - you are in effect STACKING the buffer.
You get it? The shootout at CLA's studio was useless, and you could audibly here a difference, but they never addressed this fact. They were doubling the buffer effect of CLA's SSL channel strip by sending Bluey's SSL buffered signal INTO CLA's actual SSL - a signal chain they were trying to replicate. So UNFORTUNATELY - they didn't make this with Pro Studios in mind, but almost project studio only types with the hardwired buffer. Did they not think actual studios with SSL's would buy this? They should have just made the physical unit as is, and perhaps offered a plug in SSL channel buffer for 'completists' who are basically plugging straight into the computer. Ahhhh, hindsight.

I think you are overthinking it! its all very subtle stuff I mean in a analog or pro studio its common to go out of gear with lots of colors, back to the console, back to tape, converters, back to a channel strip, back out back in again. its adding up. its no big deal

But... there is no SSL circuit involved more than a routing switch for using inserts, so it has nothing to do with the sound in all honesty
