The idea of Dancing Barefoot is Jimin's, since he considers that contemporary dances have greater sensitivity to do it in this way as he learned in his time of study this type of dance.

When you react to official MVs and practises, leave the logo trailer of Big HIt/HYBE in your video and you don't need to block the actual MV. The company sees reactions as free promo for BTS and don't copyright strike if you include the complete uncut video.

    • @bulletproof_hope

He had the logo trailer for the MV . That's why I was really surprised he says it got blocked!! But I'm only at 2:29 .So maby he didn't showed the other ones.

BTS is the biggest group around the world, there are 4 vocalist and 3 rappers, and they're from South Korea. Of course their songs are mostly Korean, they only have 3 songs that are fully in english. Their leader which is RM is the only one who's fluent in english, among the members. The guy that's in individual contemporary dance, his name is Jimin and he's a top student who studied contemporary dance in their school. So in Black Swan he specialized this type of dance in their choreography. Great reaction. Wanna see another style from them? I would recommend BTS' On.

ONE YEAE and FOUR MONTHS ago I started my BTS journey. At that time I KNEW (as a 62 year old woman) I would NEVER learn their names and their voices. However, I DID IT! They changed their hairstyle & color so often which compounded the ability to differentiate. Watching BTS RUN helped me learn their faces very quickly. It was hard for me to READ the subtitles but overall I’d get the gist and learned their personalities. NOW AS FOR VOICES, it took a GOOD 9-10 months, and I’d always get Jin & JK mixed up. Keep diving, YOU WILL LEARN! Now I can’t imagine NOT KNOWING WHO’s WHO!

Hi! We always welcome potential new ARMY. 😆
If you like Black Swan, maybe try Louder Than Bombs, My Time, Save Me, and House of Cards. They are all different genres, but share a certain intensity.
If you're in a gentler, melancholy mood, RM's solo EP, mono, is a must from beginning to end. SUGA's solo EP, D-2, published under his alter ego AgustD, is another great one. All the members' solo work is released on SoundCloud for free.
      (I've restrained myself greatly. 😏)
      Have fun!

I don't have any studies in dance, or music production, or composition and singing or rap, but BTS made me know a lot of interesting things from their discography, from their history, from the reactions I see from professionals talking about them, being their fan brought me a world of artistic and emotional knowledge that I don't know if I could get it alone as quickly as they made me get, they are amazing, caring, kind and funny people, hardworking artists who trained 11 years to reach the level of the greatest artist in the world today . I'm proud to have them in my life, to hear their deep lyrics, to analyze every detail of their video clips and see how detailed and perfect they are in wanting to send a message; it's so good to have such complete and humble artists at the top of the musical world today. I recommend you watch the Spring day video clip, it's my favorite. Good luck and as our dear Jiminie said, You nice keep going

I can’t remember how long you’ve been reacting or how many videos you’ve seen from BTS. There are ONLY 3 completely English songs (& in my opinion, “Kpop”ish) and the rest are MOSTLY KOREAN (or Japanese) with a sentence, word or chorus that is in ENGLISH. THIS MULTI-FACETED GROUP IS STUNNING IN EVERY PERFORMANCE. Their repertoire is so versatile. BTS IS THE GENRE! They are different in every single song/performance. THIS IS WHAT MAKES THEM SOOO FANTASTIC, # 1 in THE WORLD!

Yes, this song (and most of their discography) is in Korean with English lyrics. BTS also sings in Japanese too (Let Go, Don't Leave me, Film Out, Lights, and Your Eyes Tell). There was also an iconic Japanese female singer, Amuro Namie, known for her ability to sing LIVE and dance during her 2.5 hours concerts too. She retired in 2018 though.

Hi! Thank you for the thorough reactions & appreciate you sharing your takes on each video. Also wanted to add that I love how detailed & neat the way you wrote down everything on the description box. Love it!!
    Somme commentary:
00:15 I love the guitar intro!!
01:45 While they quoted Martha Graham & taking inspirations from the movie "Black Swan", the losing passion they talk about in the song is not merely about dancing but mainly doing music (that's why some lines in the lyrics talk about how the beauty of music no longer resonates with their soul & that they'd die their first death). Just wanted to clarify while they're very obviously passionate being performers, their first and foremost heart & soul is music
03:35 Their root is hip-hop but as they ventured more genres of music, their dancing genre & performances were also evolved & they got to try various styles of dancing too
03:43 As others have pointed out, they only have 3 full-English tracks over their 9 years of career and they currently have 300++ songs which are mainly in Korean and few of them in Japanese. However their recent surge in popularity in the US was mainly during the times they released their English songs. Radios in the US have a history of being super hesitant about playing their Korean songs so people who have not tried to dive in their discography usually had no idea that they don't usually sing their tracks in English. (I hope this does not come across as me blaming you for not knowing but rather just wanted to give more context)
05:16 I like the way you point out the contrast of their outfits and the lights of their surrounding. Newfound appreciation for LUMPENS (the video production company behind many BTS MVs)
05:50 Well they don't always have the budget for the MV haha thankfully you watched their more recent works where they already have enough money to invest in higher level gears & props & settings but they started in a very small company (almost declared in bankruptcy) and they don't always have the budget for that. If you started to watch the MVs from their earlier times, you'll see that they really had to be super creative to make do with everything.
06:02 as I have said well obviously because some Americans are 'allergic' listening to music in foreign languages (yes I'm looking atcha radios ;)) so it didn't get played as often as their English tracks. Well can't really talk bad about the US situations while too in my country listening to "something Korean" is considered mocking-worthy. It sucks but it is what it is.
07:01 sameeee probably my favorite part of the whole choreography haha
07:20 his name is Jimin! he had studied contemporary dancing during his high school period alongside with hip-hop dance and is the most prominent contemporary dancer among the members. He's often "in charge" with more-contemporary-side moves of the choreography. And yeah you really don't have to be technically knowledgeable in dancing to **feel** that Jimin gives a soul & character to his dance esp when he dances contemporary - he is deep DEEP in his element.
09:31 while BTS MVs often leave you in an open interpretation (nothing is wrong here!), well, if we were to take the whole Map of The Soul series & take into account their inspiration from Carl Jung's human psyche theory, the way the shadow was "subjugated" into the last person standing **might** mean that they've accepted their own Shadow/collective unconsciousness. The stuff within the Shadow is everything our consciousness wanted to suppress. In this song, one of the things they suppressed is their fear of losing their passion towards music. They went deeper into their own self, facing their own fear (this was talked during J-Hope's & SUGA's verse starting from 06:22) and in the end they've acknowledge their fear & anxiety of having to lose their passion for music. Though not necessarily not afraid of losing it anymore, but at the very least, they've acknowledged it.
(Please more knowledgeable ARMY correct me as some stuff might not be accurate as I never take formal education in Psychology)
13:04 wanted to add some commentary regarding 'not every artist prepare themselves for live performances', BTS have been sharing the behind-the-songs creation stories & they OFTEN share their consideration of how a song would work in a live performance setting regardless if it's a title track or just B-sides. so yeah seeing their live performance is ALWAYS something worthy to fight for because their creativity goes not only during the stage preparation but waaaay beyond.
19:32 BTS started as a hip-hop group and therefore have perfected yearsss of hip-hop dance moves. That's why when you commented the popping during chorus is actually hard to do, well... they've been doing that first actually before trying out the more contemporary moves hehe
21:38 well this might be a sign for you to start reacting to the introduction videos!! hehehehe
25:00 you might want to check
-ON (it has 2 MVs - cinematical one & choreography one (the Kinetic Manifesto Film)). super interesting with the production & the choreography scale is HUGE
-Mic Drop (this was actually a Korean B-side from their album Love Yourself: Her but they did a feature with Steve Aoki & this feature version is 90% in English & has a lil bit different beats from the original)
-FAKE LOVE (the original MV has a more hip-hop sound and the extended ver MV has a more alternate-rock arrangement. but the vocals & lyrics are same just two different instrumental arrangements)
-Spring Day (the MV does not feature a choreo at all. The context behind this song is very deep & is believed to be related to Sewol ferry tragedy in South Korea (though BTS themselves never confirmed this as this is a very sensitive topic but yeah many believed so))

BTS sing in Korean, English and Japanese. They're a Kpop group so the vast majority of their discography is in Korean. A lot of their Korean songs have Japanese versions too. There are some solely in English and some solely in Japanese. Imagine having the talent to dance and sing the way they do in one language, let alone in 3 separate languages. For next reactions I would recommend:
    Danger
    Fire
    Stay Gold

Thank you for your educated and interesting reaction to BTS.
The shadow represents their inner fears.
    Fears of losing their passion.
At the beginning the shadow was moving crazily. By the end it is peaceful, representing their acceptance of these fears as part of themselves.
This song is from their album Map of The Soul 7.
The concept of this album was inspired by the philosophy of Karl jung about Persona, Shadow and Ego.
It is an extremely well constructed album, and this song is one of them.
You may not have noticed but there are many shadows throughout the song.
There is no main singer. They all have their part to play. That is what is special.
Please react to ON Manifesto film.
It is from the same album and shadow will be mentioned.

Your video won't be blocked if you played the Big Hit or BTS's company intro before the MV begins
BTS danced barefoot so their souls can feel the ground more (contemporary dancing) and show more of their vulnerable sides and raw emotions through dancing.
_"the heart no longer beats even when the song plays"_
Black Swan is BTS expressing their fear of losing their passion for their craft.
They train 13-15 hours daily, even more during promotional periods just practicing their choreography (they have over 30 complex ones). Some of them have a good foundation in dance, others who don't work harder and they never stop the grind. This is why all of them are so in sync and their teamwork is so strong. (dancing as a group is very challenging)
BTS are basically being artists while being athletes.
BTS are people who take pride in their work, are sincere with their audience and are basically a family.

Yesss, so happy to see you react to bts again! There's so much to discover about these guys. It's a rabbit hole. 😄 Jimin is a very versatile dancer, but he does specialize in modern dance. He's also an amazing singer, his high pitch is gorgeous. But so is his lower, raspy tone.. He's my bias, if you can't tell. 😂
I recommend you check out their tiny desk concert th-cam.com/video/gFYAXsa7pe8/w-d-xo.html
It'll give you a whole new appreciation for their voices. And also help you tell them apart a bit more. Since they're not running around all over the place. 😄
For me, one of the ways I started to recognize each member, was checking out some of their solo stuff.
And James G his videos get blocked almost every time.. He's definitely not ideal for reactors.
This cover of 'I'll be missing you' might be fun to react to as well. th-cam.com/video/EN5Ga6OMwhA/w-d-xo.html

I'd highly recommend the song IDOL - it has a music video, a dance practice, and the live performance of it on the 2018 Melon Music Awards (MMA) is widely considered to be one of the best by their fans. Also it's very different musically and in terms of choreography to what you've seen so far, so I think you'll really enjoy it.

BLACK SWAN - contains meaningful, DEEP lyircs. Such an underrated song. It is inspired by the quote “A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful." by Martha Graham. This song talks about losing one’s passion. Artists don’t talk about that often. It dives deep into the group's fears as artists. BTS contends that the day that music no longer fills them with the same passionate fire as before, or even if there came a day when they stopped creating music - what they feel is their life's purpose - it would feel like death. Two Filipino songwriters, August Rigo and Vince Nantes, composed and wrote lyrics for “Black Swan,” alongside BTS leader RM, multiawarded producer Pdogg and rapper Clyde Kelly. It's based on Swan Lake the famous ballet (which the movie Black Swan is based on) which features two roles a white swan that is good and pure and a black swan who is evil, in most performances both swans good/evil are played by the same dancer symbolizing the struggle within. The video is about the struggle with a shadow self and losing your passion. (Note in the ballet they do die to be set free)
You are going to love the dance practices. 😘💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I think they took inspiration from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake ballet, choreographed by Julius Reisinger rather than the movie.

A few other videos related to this is that before BTS released this song, they prereleased Black Swan Art Film. It was danced by a professional dance group, they danced in barefeet, with orchestral instruments, and did it to contemporary and ballet moves.
You can also watch the video of BTS watching the Art Film video and saying Jimin should dance that part. So what you see is a result and version of BTS dance in barefeet, choreography, beat, and song.

First, BTS is a korean group, most of their songs are korean. 3 songs are only in English
Secondly, the dancer in the official video of Black Swan, who is the dancer in the background of the shadow, is Jimin , and he specializes in contemporary dance.

You could react to one of the members: JIMIN he is the one who dances in the background to symbolize in that video.
His official songs are: Lie, Serendipity, Filter and the most recent "With You" which was made for a very famous Korean drama..
It also has unofficial releases such as: "Promise" which broke Drake's record on SoundCloud, "Christmas Love"

No the song or mv is not about the movie "Black Swan" but is inspired by a Martha Graham quote. Martha Graham was a legendary contemporary dancer. Here we see contemporary dancing. Black Swan the movie is about ballet (Swan Lake ballet) - the very opposite of contemporary. Contemporary dancing evolved as an expression against the rigor and rigidity of traditional ballet. In fact when this song came out and #blackswan trended, the traditional ballet fraternity was horrified that it has nothing to do with them. The Royal Ballet even snootily tweeted "forget about BTS, watch our production instead". Well Karma is an ARMY because a week later all their stage productions have to be cancelled (before it even started) because of covid. In any case, BTS' Black Swan performance during MMA 2020 is inspired by Matthew Bourne's production of Swan Lake which featured male swans.
Btw Jimin, our Black Swan has topped the Dabeme Best Dancer poll for yet another year (4th?). Congratulations Jimin!

      @ruthfischer7615 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

But the movie (and the ballett) are part of the inspiration in their picture language like how Jin turns away from the mirror but his mirror images not following.
"Black Swan" is among other things about "Swan Lake". The interesting part about is that is that the prima ballerina has a double role as white swan/black swan (the princess/the daughter of the sorcerer). Since the emotion is so contrasting it is tricky to play. When the main character in the movie explores her dark side it drives her insane (Natalie Portman won an Oscar for this role). You can like that to the exploration of our unconsciousness which the song IS about as it is on the Map of the Soul (applied Jungian psychology).
The shadow explored here is their fear of losing their passion for their art.

I'm glad you liked it! It's one of my favourite songs and choreography. Since you enjoy dance I recommend you to go ahead and watch Black swan Art film. The music part in song is different (I think you call it the mix idk) and the video is contemporary dance performance by other dancers. It was released before the music video I believe and everyone was blown away. This is art

I think the next song should be "on" for the MV I suggest "on kinetic Manifesto film : Come Prima" the original MV is more cinématographic this one is more about dance.
But both of them are good.

I recommend On kinetic manifesto film after Black Swan.
Black Swan is a song that expresses their fear of losing their passion for music.
And On is their determination to overcome that fear and move on to the future. :)
BTS members said they felt scared and pressured because they suddenly became world famous around 2018.
So they were thinking about disbanding, and nevertheless, after a year of hard time thinking, they decided to think only about their fans and themselves and move forward.
The albums that have been released since then are the Map of the Soul series. The albums are filled with songs that reconsider their inner self, the relationship between the seven members, and the relationship between them and fans.
Boy with Luv contains a message that they will fly toward fans, not the sun, with wings attached by ARMY.
And after listening to Black Swan, you can better understand how they feel by reading On's lyrics. :)
The lyrics of BTS' songs are based on their own experiences, and their albums are organic because they contain their growth narrative.
It will also be fun to listen to their albums in order and analyze them. :)
Oh, there is another great Black Swan live performance. :)
2020 MMA Black swan & On & Life goes on & Dynamite

Suga couldn't participate in the performance due to rehabilitation after his shoulder surgery, but this is one of the masterpieces.

BTS is from South Korea, and most of their music is sung in Korean, with some English phrases added throughout their songs. They have only three fully English songs, and they also have Japanese language songs as well. The white suits represent the white swan and the black suits represents the black swan. It makes sense that you don't know this song, Because their Korean songs don't get much radio play, at least in America. Their fully English songs do, (Dynamite, Butter, and Permission To Dance). JIMIN specializes in contemporary dance. He represents the transformation into the Black Swan in this Music Video.
BTS did draw inspiration from the movie, but Carl Jung's Map of the Soul is the inspiration for the Album, and this song has a lot of references to the Shadow, which is the dark part of ourselves that we tend to suppress. And BTS always sing live, not JUST the main vocalist. Backing tracks are used for layering, adlibs, and harmonies, in their live performances, so not to replace someone's voice, but to add depth, and a fuller sound. In K Pop, if you can't sing and dance live, you don't debut. It's very common in South Korea for live singing with the dance choreography. BTS just does it very well. They are known for their amazing dance choreography and live performances. I don't know about Western Artists. To be honest, I've never seen a Western Artist do anything like what BTS does, or other K Pop starts. I started with Blackpink and they are also very good with lives.

Shadow is a psychological theory it's the part were we hide our fears, bad thoughts desires things we don't want other's to know about in the case of Black Swan it's their Fear of losing their Passion for their art eg Song writing, composing, Producing, Rapping Singing Dancing even just going up on stage. The Shadow falling away to nothing represents that fear of them losing their passion for their art has be conquered.
Black Swan is influenced by the a quote from the famous dancer Martha Stewart " a Dancers dies twice, once when they stop dancing and this is the most painful death"

BTS often write lyrics that look at their own feelings and then relate them to the theme of the album. Map of the Soul (the album name) is a concept by Karl Jung. The shadow is the part of a person that is their innerself and holds their fears. BTS members have a very real worry that they will lose their passion for making music and it would be like the painful first death Martha Graham talks about with being unable to dance. The albums talk about the 3 parts of a person, the persona, shadow and ego. At the end of the MV the shadow disappearing could represent them accepting their fear, absorbing their shadow and moving on. The whole the 2 albums, Map of the Soul: Persona and Map of the Soul: 7, are incredible and tell a story if you listen to the songs in order. Genius 💜 Can I recommend watching the introduction to the members by Taylor Nakamoto. It helps with the names and gives fantastic background info on each member. The contemporary dancer is Park Jimin.
