10 years ago I had a 4.2 series 3. Wonderful car, a bit old-fashioned but a great car also for daily driving. In 1972 the 2.8 was discontinued. It was very popular in countries like Italy because they paid tax depending on how big the engine was. Thank you for another great video.

Nice cars the Jaguar XJ6, XJ12 and XJS, surprising that the manual gear boxes at this time were still a 4 speed manual the most luxurious car of the BL range as car's starting to come out the the 5 speed gear box like the Rover SD1, 2300, 2600 and 3500 V8 not for getting the Austin Allegro 1500, 1750 and the Maxi 1500 & 1750. I know when the series 3 XJ6 in 1979/80 were fitted with the 5 speed manual and a 5 speed was fitted to the XJS 6 cylinder when that model came out. Great video on Jaguars, Take care

The parents of a classmate in elementary school had a silver metallic series 2 XJ 4.2. A new Jaguar XJ in the late 70's in Sweden was an extraordinary car only for people with lots of money. They even had a car phone. The sort that looked like the one you had at home. You can see it in the intro to the professionals tv series.

I never knew anyone who owned a Jaguar in Australia. You would have to have been extremely posh to have owned one. Maybe living on the harbourside in Sydney. When I was a kid, my dad was fond of Leyland cars. I remember him saying that his dream car in the fifties was a Jaguar XK120 coupe. In the days before the E-Type.

The Jaguar, the car marquee that honestly does look out of place in this brochure. The XJ looks lovely here in the Mk2 guise and is a great design I think. The XJS looks good I think in the Pre HE look like here. The thing is everyone looked at this as a replacement for the E Type which it was never designed to be that. So it didn’t get the best start but I think now it’s become a classic in its own right. Really nice video as always and I think out of the whole brochure I would choose the Triumph 1850 HL as it has everything you would need in it and be reasonable for insurance and running costs

This was probably my favourite era of the XJ6, interesting to see the 3.4 put out 161bhp but the 4.2 only managed 166…I presume the higher torque made a bigger difference ! It looks like the XJS had a doctored front plate, I wonder what the original would have been ?
