    Got my 1975 last week after waiting 7 months. I had never touched an offset before but was making the best bbq of my life by the end of the long weekend. If you’re paying attention to detail, just takes a few cooks to dial it in.

    received my 1969 model April '21 and love it just as much...very excellent pit and agree with your 5 reasons. I would add one more, and that is the design of the pit...air flow is incredible, so much so that I find cook times are significantly less than what I see others have on the YT bbq channels. And the quality of the meat coming off is simply amazing.

    Good stuff! Actually working on a 6 month review myself. Give her a linseed oil bath hahha :) Cover needs to be Sunbrella fabric, mine is already quite faded which looks terrible lol. I'd rather spend twice as much for a cover that doesn't fade. Great overview, keep on smoking!

    • @grillinghotsmokinglowinthe6058
      @grillinghotsmokinglowinthe6058 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's actually a good idea, when mine comes I'll take it to the upholstery shop that made all the cushions for the backyard furniture, I could not believe how faded the cover was after only a year.

    • @bfkj9319
      @bfkj9319 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anecdotally, I’m not sure the cover material matters that much. If the pit is going to be out in the elements then the cover is going to get beat up. I have two BGEs both covered, one exposed and one under an awning. There is a stark difference between the two covers after a few years. The exposed cover is frayed, thin, and bleached out while the covered cover is still holding up well.

    • @OffsetRookie
      @OffsetRookie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@bfkj9319 my Komodo Kamado is 3 years old and sits out uncovered year round and has no fading or issues at all. Both Yoder and Lynx covers are in great shape as well. I’m on the east coast so see snow and the sun comes up from that side of the house. The Yoder is tan (prob by design) but the other two are black and haven’t faded a bit. Everything is 3 years old. Lynx is leather like though (was $400) and the KK is Sunbrella.
      It’s super picky, but I’d spend more to have a similar quality cover on my 1975.

    How close can you put food to the firebox say a brisket or a pork butt without it getting burned. How even are the temps from left to right? Have you had any problems with grease running back into the firebox from the cook chamber? I currently have an LSG but I am not real happy with the tuning plates it has. So I have been seriously considering selling it and purchasing a 1975. Your feedback is greatly appreciated

    • @BackyardWarrior
