Thank you for this tutorial. I am 75 yo and just learning to do the hand knitting. (I'm always late to the party! 🤪) I must say your tutorial is much more helpful than the many I have watched. I have to catch up on your other videos! Happy Holidays! 🙏🏼🦋
Thank you so much! Happy Holidays!!
This probably the simplest and most informative tutorial I have seen yet. I've recently become obsessed with these blankets and have already made three...not the best but getting there. What I love is I knot the same way you do. Thank you❤
Thank you for the kindest words!❤️
Love it!
Brenda, thank you so much. I’ve looked & searched all over TH-cam and TikTok, for this pattern and I couldn’t find one single person who was patient, clear in their speaking and consistent. I am so grateful to you, for putting in the effort. I’ll be rewatching this several times, bc it takes me a few tries. Merry Christmas 🎄 happy holidays. Thank you 🙏
I’m so glad you enjoyed my tutorial. Thank you for the kind words! Merry Christmas!
Thank you, I enjoyed your video .. I have watched a few now and I like how your stitches are a little tighter, it looks much more neat and tidy .. also how you combined your stitch patterns, looks much more intricate and fashionable, not so plain as you usually see, and your demonstration makes it look easy enough to try and not be intimidated or overwhelmed. One last point I'd like to Thank you for is the way you communicate and interact with your viewers 👍🏼Thank you, I'm excited to start one myself and practice, it will be an awesome Mothers day gift! .. 💕Blessings.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
Thank you! This is my first project and I'm hoping to gift it!

I love this tutorial and plan to give it a whirl this weekend. Thanks so very much!
You’re welcome!
That first row is the hardest thing to get going if you're a beginner haha
Yes, that’s true.
Love your videos, definitely learning different styles of knitting these beautiful blankets. If I may ask, how do you setup your camera/phone to record?
Thank you. Glad you enjoy them.
Beautiful design🥰🥰How do you do this pattern with two colors? like how would you add the second color on the next stitch?
I personally would add the second color on the edge behind the last stitch, that will be a knit row. So you don’t have the purl dots.
Can you show how to do the double garter blanket with 2 colors?
I’ll add it to my list.
when you’re about to come to the end, you cut the yarn and tie your other color and do the same thing. when you want to change colors again you do the same thing
I use the burn method and do it directly behind the last stitch in the row. Make sure it’s on a knit row then you won’t have the purl dots on your color change.
I have made a few blankets with no tururials lol and they are pretty good but now they can be amazing. How many should i cast for a twin size blanket i made one with 40 cast it fits my king size bed lol. Thank u for the videos i love getting new patterns
I don’t know the bed measurements, but for 40 inches I do 28 cast on.
@brendakay..how many should I chain to make a 50X60 blanket and how many skeins do you think I need? Thank you
I do about 34 for 50 width. You can measure your cast on chain. If it’s near 45 inches it stretches. How big is your skein size? For Bernat blanket big I use about 7-8. It’s better to have extra of the same dye lot. You can always return.
Good morning! I'm trying this stitch now. Do I do one regular stitch, then do two purl stitches throughout the whole blanket?
It’s 2K 2P rows.
@@PassionKnitCozy is it one or two right off the cast on? That's the only part in confused about. And thank you for the quick response. You're the best!
@@aricacollett263the stitches pulled through is your first row.
Hello just caught one of your videos. Do you know how to cast this onto a wood loom instead of using your fingers. Sometimes my hands hurt bad, and I need to use a loom?
I’m not familiar with looms.
Would the process for a medium size throw blanket be the same just with 40 stitches at the start?
When I do 40 stitches to start it’s more like 55 inches width. I always measure about 6 rows up. I suggest 29 for approximately 40 inch width.
I am looking to make a 50x60 blanket how many skeins do you recommend I purchase? Also how many stitches you think I should start with? Thanks so much in advance
It depends on the yards in skein. I do 34 approx for 50 inch.
I believe hobby lobby is 28 yards each skein?
I would say approximately 10. I do 7 for 40 inch.
Does it matter that you ended up with 22 loops instead of 21 on the first row? So, do I make 20 loops and one loop on each end?
It will likely be one inch less wide with 1 less loop on cast on chain.
I want to do a 70 x 90 twin blanket in the double garde pattern. How many skeins of Berber gumbo 7 chenille yarn
It really depends on yardage per skein and tension of knitting. Bernat blanket big I use 12.
hi there, 2 things, why do you flip the chain in the very beginning? and i have always knit the top loop, can you show in slower motion how you knit from the bottom part?
Check out my beginner blanket video for a slower version. It can make for a smoother chain. Beginners it’s easier to use top loop on chain.
Whay do you have to turn the cast on over?
You don’t have to. Just my preference.
So, cast on is 21; flip chain over; then knit entire row (row2? - I am lost on which is which row). I understand it is a 4 row pattern repeat. When does the 1st row actually begin? so, R2 k22? R3 22; R4 k1 P19 k1 (k1 is the border);R5 k1 P19 k1; R6 k21; R7 K21? I guess I am confused as to which row is actually the beginning of the 4 row pattern. Can you please check to make sure I did this correctly: Thank you Brenda Kay. I am very much a beginner. I am trying to understand how the pattern is written so I can just refer to it as I watch, but ....well, as I said, I am confused to the lingo and the basics. Thank you, Brenda Kay. Regina
It’s a 2 row knit, 2 row purl pattern. I don’t flip. So first row knit, second row knit, 3rd and 4th row all purls, both edges always knit stitch.
Hi do you just use 2 skeins for this blanket ?
No, it depends on what size blanket you want and the yards per skein.
How many stitches do you start with for a medium afghan 7 HL skeins?
I recommend 28 cast on chain. 🥰
Hello, I hope you could help me. I bought 6 skeins of yarn, about 220g each, how many stitches should I start with to make a sofa throw blanket. Thank you so much!
How many yards per skein?
31.7 yards per skein, thank you!
I knit tight so I do 27-28.
Thank you, and how many rows should it be please?
Rows depend on your tension. I use a measuring tape to see how long to make it.
If you want to do a 40x60 how many start chain do you do
I would do 28, but I knit tight, tension plays a role.
@@PassionKnitCozy ok thanks I do tight stitches
Would it work to add a heart to this pattern?
Sure
Have you done a Mickey Mouse if so can you do it
It is trademarked
liked this video but 1/2 picture was showing yarn in bundle and needed more of actual stitching...thank you.
Thank you for the great feedback!
