*In my opinion we have to change the entire education system in India. The reason for my opinion is that when I was at 6th class, I studied NCERT text book.. After 11 years, my younger cousin is still studying the same text book*
Being a graduate from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research(IISER), what I see in the majority of Indians is that, people lack scientific temper. The inclusion of scientific temper from the primary levels should be made compulsory. This can be made possible firstly by educating the teachers itself. Rather than teaching the students for mark, they should inculcate the act of inquiry in anything they teach. This can be made possible only by the wise action of the teachers. Thus, we can get bright young minds for the country.
I totally agree with you.. We have to teach our teachers itself The reason for my statement is that : one of my teacher corrected me that you wrote your name in wrong way "Catherine" this is your crt spelling thinking that I misspelled my name. But when I wrote "Catherine" instead of "katherin" an English teacher read it as "satharin".. This was the level
Fundamental duties-Article 51 A(h)-“It shall be the duty of every citizen of India to develop scientific temper, humanism, spirit of inquiry and reform“.

Medium of language up to class 5 being their mother tongue is a very good decision. Because most of the concepts learned are basic so the students can make it into their heart. English should be learned as a language up to class 5 giving importance to speaking too. Then they can cope up easily with the change of medium and can also perform well.

Ya chechiii u said it..... New NEP is a progressive one if it is made practical in a positive manner...... Because education is one of the most important pillar of our country and proper analysis must be done while making rules and regulations regarding it....... Hats off to you chechiii for your findings and analysis
I remember the students who joined 11th in my school from Malayalam Medium literally struggling to decipher each sentence and asking me what is the meaning of this and that every 20 sec. Most of their efforts were wasted in translation. I used to feel so bad for them. So yea, I am a strong advocate of 'Learning in Mother Tongue' - Look at countries like Japan, France, Spain, Germany etc. I think mother tongue priority do have a role in their progress. But in our country, this will be a problem for those who move states. There HAS TO be focus on learning to speak and write English well - not the mugging up Byron & Wordsworth without appreciating poetry bit, but rather daily conversational/audio-video sessions so that students learn to listen and speak English. I remember going to Delhi University to collect my certificates and for every single thing we need to submit a written letter. Many graduates and post graduates standing in the queue couldn't write a simple formal letter. And I was doing it for them. I even thought of turning it into a business and charging Rs. 50 for every letter. If I stand at the gate I can make lot of money. Other than chanting holy prayers and pooja mantras, I cant think of any use for Sanskrit. That Hindus are taught from home, na? Just like Muslims are taught Namaz from home and Christians their bible verses? Sanskrit is useless - period!
A very big step towards national integration and use of our own resources. We need our own technology to be developed to reduce dependence on other nations like China.
Ofcourse I agree with Ur openion abt eng even after completing my graduation i am not confident in my english..I was malayalam medium student..my performance during ug will be better if I know english better..and ur point abt health system is also a big concern..it will be misused for sure...

Iam a medical student n even iam concerned about integrating modern medicine with alternative ones...i think it'll be a lethal combination to practice... Again sidelining english and promoting sanskrit also needs to be questioned...i think our nation needs more educational institutions inorder to accomadate the n number of students so that no one is left behind due to lack of seats available for them in each stream...There should not be a situation where the student has to settle for the courses that he/she doesn't like only bcs there is limited no: of seats avaialable in the courses they are actually interested in.
@@sagarsonawane1698 so? Hats off to the research you are doing and the way you analyze things! ❤ Powerful presentation 👌 Not gonna attract many audience, but then this channel will grow slowly. Sure! All the best! Few words about the content : Your take on the influence of regional language, I would like to stress on a point, I am a Software Engineer by profession, There are a lot of Engineers whom I know completed their Secondary Education in regional language (Malayalam) doing exceptionally well in thier profession! Well, I agree that English language competency plays a vital role when it comes to global exposure and business! Proper English language training is necessary from the upper primary classes! My thoughts are inline with all other points discussed!
I am a software engineer by profession and my first stab on on coding was with Kerala it@school syllubus. I learned it in malayalam and only later I realised that many words I used for coding are actually English words. English is never a barrier for coding, it's structure is not strongly bind to the actual English language. But the resources to learn coding in non English languages are less, but this isn't specific to Coding

@@gayathrybee6674 They should have known about it. Kendriya Vidyalayas were made for the purpose of not facing any challenges due to change in citie because of parent's job. We need one single language. Person 2: Forgot that we do have one special National language.
I studied in english medium in mumbai but I know malayalam perfectly. In d future why will I send my child to marathi medium school? No way english medium is must for those who want it.
Excellent! I really agree with you. I am really glad that INDIA is adopting this system. I am also concerned about teaching children English language late, it’s better if children learn foreign language in an early stage rather than teaching them when they get older. Like in US, government should provide laptops to needy kids. Everything will be possible if the Indian government use the fund for temple construction to education!
Let's hope in the coming generation who will educate in a better path as personally the educational system that I went through were disastrous. It took lots of time to unlearn some unhealthy experiences of mine from school life. Now wondering how I survived all those. The word that attracted me a lot in NEP is one of it's vision that "promoting human rights, sustainable development and global well being". Hope it will implement in the right way..

Yes, what about Sanskrit? Even though I took it during my school days. But, that was for scoring good marks. Why not Tamil, that is the most spoken classical language of India and it is the oldest Indian language? So what about hindi, if the other subjects are in regional language. You understand where it goes?
@Lio Oil yea, you are right. I just read about it after your comment. Thank you for replying. Came to know about how dated other classical languages are too. Thanks!
Why the NEP is focusing on Sanskrit? As we all know Sanskrit is a very old language. Many of the important science texts written by Indian scientists like Aryabhatta is in Sanskrit language. Early Indian Mathematicians contributed a lot (eg: Zero, algebra, trigonometry etc.) There is still a lot more to research about these texts. The interesting fact is that foreign universities are now keen on learning the language and conducting research on the texts. Even Oxford University is offering Sanskrit language as a program. In Germany also many universities has started offering these programs. So more than a language of communication, this is focused as a medium to discover the scientific brilliance of India since ages ago. As Indians, when we have such a potentially big tool, that is a language, with us, that nowadays the world is looking upon, it is really important that we have an idea or we understand the importance of what we have.
NEP2020 is giving hope. But as you mentioned, my concern is about how the student wants will be addressed rather than what their situation puts them in. Again thanks for being a youtuber who is backed with social concern, independent thought and logical reasoning.
Researches says mother language will enable students better understanding of topics. Education is not all about getting a job on a multinational company . There are lot IAS officers in Kerala studied local government school and speak fluently in English അപ്പൊ ശരി ബൈ
It's also important whether NEP reaches rural India, whether we as a nation is capable of bringing such revolutionary changes all on a sudden in a uniform manner. Hai Gayathri, The video is simply superb. Congrats dear..☺️
The choice of selecting wt student's need will be a great thing... And English should be included, in the way like students can speak not just studying grammar and writing things..they should be efficient to use that in proper way...And that should include everything from basic, even in the pronouciation...bcz a suffered a lot bcz of that..
A big salute for giving a detailed analysis of NEP 2020. I also agree with many of your points except your opinion on English. I believe that a student has to learn the basic concepts of a subject in the language that his/her heart speaks and that mother tongue. It doesn't mean that we are sidelining English because English is still taught as a seperate subject. Communication skill in English can be built very easily by an intelligent and efficient English teacher. The idea of teaching a concept to children in English and then children convert it into mother tongue internally is ridiculous. Rather it is always better to impart the concept directly in mother tongue atleast upto 5th standard. Now what the mejority English medium children are doing is by hearting the concept without understanding it. Anyway your video is so funtastic and you are the need of the time..
Your comment requires more attention.Perfectly written.Gayathri is enforcing the need to make more workerclass people than entrepreneurs. But whether it is China or Japan or US , every nation runs on native languages than a foreign language. And only malayali people are like this.In rest of India, they love people speaking native language
NEP 2020 is nothing but strengthening of savarna agraharas in education. Highly recommend local language medium classes are never going to affect the upper class/caste children. The burden of preservation of local languages is upon the poor! They will be distanced from getting proper English education and will be unable to access any of these foreign and Indian Universities. Privatisation of education is another cunning step included here. The proper and quality higher education will be a touchstone for the poor in India. Vocational training in schools will ensure the lower caste students stick upon the skilled labor. Newly proposed NEP2020 is highly exclusionary and especially castiest. Also take a look at the introduction of Sanskrit Education and recent removal of many portions from the school syllabus such as secularism, Christ, Muhammad etc. The steps are clear. It's the making of a Hindu nation and NEP 2020 is it's preparatory stage in educational sector. Non of the pros are sufficient to cover up their clear agenda into education. Myself Darshan, student of University of Delhi.
English language is universal... and it should not be marginalised.... ayush system and modern medicine cannot be combined as each medical system have entirely different approach to disease and treatment... so it will do more harm than good...nice analysis gayathri😍
If this all implemented perfectly ...literally it seems to be revolutionary change in india education system... Or else the 1st batch s going to suffer 💯💯💯
An Integrated educational system is really important and I always had a problem with people highlighting "mediums ".I strongly agree to the concept that Regional language should be learned as a subject and others needs to be taught in English. Children who have completed their schooling in regional language tends to hold an inferiority complex because of the existing educational system.
This policy is an upgrade, may not be the best one, but still a step towards progression. Government has to contribute a higher percent of GDP towards education, which although promised, won't happen in a fortnight. Then there is all the undercutting, corruption etc to deal with. Hopefully by 2040-50, we will get a solid policy that can develop our future generation. Wonderful presentation, at first I thought this was a roast, but then saw the channel name. Is there a Malayalam one? If not, I think you should do that, because people have a habit of reacting to things that bring changes. 10/10♥️
5:25 what did you mean ma'am? Coding? I have studied in malayalam medium and i can do coding . The only thing i disagree is about English being marginalized. Even if your basic medium is the mother tongue English can be taught as a major subject. English speaking ability is something that one should achieve themselves and with today's opportunities, there are multiple platforms from where one could achieve that. I know many won't agree with me but knowledge in mother tongue is also very much necessary. Basic medium being mother tongue won't stop a student from studying English plus coding starts only after middle school 😅
Yeah, I agree with you because recently I started learning another language... and my mother tongue i.e, Malayalam helped me to analyze everything from the start. I think we can learn another language better if we know our mother language better.
I am not pretty sure that whether anyone will notice my comment or not. BUT THIS IS MY REAL LIFE WIERD EXPERIENCE, BEING A TEACHER, PROFESSIONALLY. I worked in a private school for almost 6months after my B.Ed., and I was really enthusiastic and full of fire, that time, as I just came out of my college looking forward to change the lives of a few, if possible, a few children. The management was so supportive and within few days itself, I proved that i am a good teacher ( I am proud of that, but not boasting, pls read the comment till end). I was a thematic teacher in the school, where we have no textbooks, exams, strict syllabus for the classes, only we have activity and real life theme based learning. I was teaching the students of class 2. As I am a new teacher who know about the importance of critical pedagogy and remedial teaching, also, about slow learners and gifted children, I tried to support some naughty children who showed some behavioral problems in the classroom. Eventually, within few months they started showing changes and started to perform well in class activities. ACTUALLY THEY WERE THE REAL INTECTUALLY GIFTED STUDENTS, i must say. Meanwhile, some parents of the so- labelled studious students in the same class, who were considered as elite in society, started complaining about these kids, that they are just bullies and started questioning me about supporting them. I tried to convey my idea to them, but failed. They moved with formal complaint to the HM, but she ho was very well aware of my activities in the classroom, tried to convey the idea of mine to the parents. Nothing changed. They moved with complaint to higher authority. ALSO STOPPED SENDING THEIR CHILD TO THE SCHOOL, for, THREATENING ME AND THE WHOLE SCHOOL OFFICIALS. THE PARENTS LITERALLY CALLED ME AND FIRED AT ME, ASKING FOR APOLOGIES, FOR NOT RESPECTING THEM AND THEIR CHILD, AND THEIR SUPERIORITY. Just think, its a child in grade 2!!! Then I was forced to apologise to them infront of the school authorities, to solve the isuue. The next week was really troublesome for me. I started to feel so much negative, and to escape from the faces of a lot of old school teachers in the same school, who tried to use this situation to criticise me and the new generation teachers, I took a long leave. My be an escape, but I needed a break. But the reason I stated in the letter was something different, obviously I dont want to express my feelings to some who dont value them! Still now, I am on my long leave. I value my self conscience more than being professionally settled. SO, THIS IS WHAT I HAVE TO SAY TO ALL OF YOU OUT THERE. NOT ONLY TEACHERS AND THE EDUCATIONAL POLICIES SHOULD BE CHANGED, BUT THE PARENTS AND THE SOCIAL MINDSET SHOULD BE CHANGED.
@@AbhijithSprk My class consisted of 20students, 6of them were girls and the rest, boys. Girls were, as usual, calm, quiet, always thinking about studies and performing well in the class. Boys, the opposite. Thinking about new reasons to fight each other, talking about cartoon heroes and arguing all the time, even in between classes. Literally, everyday, I witnessed bloodsheds in my classroom in the initial days, and later it got reduced but not fully changed. Along with this, the neverending feud between the girl children and boy children. You know, its common in kids. But parents shouldnot interfere in that....i believe. In my class there was a girl who always wanted to be the toper. She is not that extraa ordinary, but her parents are teachers and are from a very elite family, knowing the school management very personally. So her marks were like a part of their dignity. So the child always used to tease others if they perform not well in worksheets and if someone performs better than her, she will be disturbed. In one such day, the big bully of my class, who promised me to be a good boy and to score highest in the worksheet, became the topper. We teachers appreciated him a lot. The next day a complaint from the aforementioned girl came up, that the boy bullied her. I consoled her and send her back. In the evening, parents called with a complaint that I am not looking aftr their girl. I tried to console them, but was in vain. The next day I informed the matter to the HM. SHe told that she will manage the parents. But the parents, Who went to the HM said that i was supporting the bully child. So me and HM checked the cctv footages of our class, to know the reality of the situation. THAT WAS AN ARGUMENT WHICH TURNED TO A FIGHT, And both of them beat each other. Small kid fights. But the parents were not at all convinced, they refused to accept that their child beat another child, they argued that, the girl is so well behaved., and if this is the situation in school, they will not send the child to school. To solve the isuue, They need me to apologize for not supporting the right act of their child and the wrong act of the boy. ALSO THEY DEMANDED TO THE WHOLE MANAGEMENT TO DISMISS THE BOY FROM THE SCHOOL. FROM THE NEXT DAY ONWARDS THEY STOPPED SENDING THEIR CHILD TO SCHOOL. THEY PUT FORTH THE COMPLAINT TO HIGHER AUTHORITIES. The higher authority asked me to apologize to solve the issue and not to thow the boy out from school. FOR THEM THAT WAS EASY AND SAFE!!! Wow. So I apologised.
Getting a job is not the only goal of education, and that is precisely the reason why the decision to accommodate primary school education in regional languages, as well as giving Sanskrit its deserved position is well intended. Education must enable you to stick to your roots while still getting to progress in modern times. Towards that end, this policy is the right blend I would say.

Wow, i should have followed this channel long back. It was just this morning i got to know about this channel! How frequent do you upload videos? I totally appreciate this new venture gayathri chechi! Keep going! 👌
Liked the video..but I beg to disagree with u on the point of MOI at elementary stage. MOI being mother tongue is very essential at elementary stage for conceptual clarity. In primary classes, the child only starts learning the second language...If he/she is compelled to learn all subjects in a language which is totally new, it only promotes rote learning. It eliminates all chances of constructivist learning. Language is acquired, not taught. Effective strategies for second language acquisition should be provided in schools at primary level. Children should be exposed to English magazines, songs, films and children's literature before they start learning school subjects in English. Here, the question of economic disparity and child's socio-cultural capital arises. These should be addressed. By the time the child is 10/12, s/he should be able to understand, read and write the second language well. Then, MOI can be changed to second language, if needed.
Rightly said... Even PRATHAM ngo's research gives insights in to the need for teaching in mother tongue for better educational outcomes. I think Gaythri could have included the equity and inclusivity aspects as well in the discussion. (Differently abled, SC st concerns etc.)
All your points regarding NEP were good but in last you said there isn't any need to focus on Sanskrit but I think it is a great step because our Hindu religious books like Bhagvat Geeta, our Vedas are written in Sanskrit and most of the modern science depends on Vedas NASA also believe and faith in our Vedas so that point is not bad according to my opinion also Ayurveda's encouragement from NEP is not a bad point. Otherwise all of your points regarding NEP are great and thank you for the osm video you are doing great job. All the very Best for upcoming videos. 👍👍
I don't agree with integration of modern med with alt medicines but please recheck the point where u said the latter is not scientifically backed up..this mentality of majority of Indians is the reason why major researches in Ayurveda are done in foreign countries like Germany...and please refer the research papers published by institutions such as All India Institute of Ayurveda., BHU and others.. and if possible correct the statement that you ve made
Agree. Most of her cons are not so great . Some of this implemented to preserve our culture. English should not be sidelined tht is fine. But integration of modern medicine with alternative medicine. When she don't use alternative medicine what she know about it. Please research about the side effects of modern medicine. Integration of modern medicine s something I liked most. That's why all other developed countries r getting our countries help for Ayurvedic n doing better medication. I would have shared your video but cons seems all so vague with no proper reasearch and knowledge.
That statement she made about alternate medicines is wrong..spreading misinformation cannot be accepted and I really wish she corrects her statement and do some research regarding this

Rather than teaching the students for mark, they should inculcate the act of inquiry in anything they teach. This can be made possible only by the wise action of the teachers. Thus, we can get bright young minds for the country.
Scientifc temper is much much needed
Lol.. Why do you want to address that you have been grauduated from IISER.. You need some freethinking too
I totally agree with you.. We have to teach our teachers itself
The reason for my statement is that : one of my teacher corrected me that you wrote your name in wrong way "Catherine" this is your crt spelling thinking that I misspelled my name. But when I wrote "Catherine" instead of "katherin" an English teacher read it as "satharin".. This was the level

We need this education system to be practical ❤️

Again sidelining english and promoting sanskrit also needs to be questioned...i think our nation needs more educational institutions inorder to accomadate the n number of students so that no one is left behind due to lack of seats available for them in each stream...There should not be a situation where the student has to settle for the courses that he/she doesn't like only bcs there is limited no: of seats avaialable in the courses they are actually interested in.

Thanks!
Very good attempt and it as good as your Malayalam channel. You are loud and clear, welcoming informative episodes....

@@gayathrybee6674 please do a video on EIA DRAFT 2020 ASAP.
This is the best video I saw so far about NEP

I'm curious. What event made parents say you were supporting bullying?

What is the use of sanskrit in daily life?
Abhishek M so many uses- health, leading a holistic life, ability to learn other Indian languages quickly, and many more. These days all this info is available if you search on Google, if you want to know in detail.
How can I find a sensible woman like you?💓
A candid assessment. Kudos 👍👌

Let’s See Ma’am... Thanks for Providing Collective educational purpose videos... Hope you will touch the Peak...
Yes exactly

Ya
That's it.
