- It's a cold, misty day in January 1992 and i'm at Exeter St Davids. It's a busy afternoon and we see Network SouthEast, Inter-City and Parcels workings plus some light engine moves with locomotive classes 33, 37, 47 & HST. If you liked the video please subscribe to my channel, there are lots more transport & quirky vids to upload!
Great catch of 2 historical 47's together. 47706 the last 47 to survive in Scotrail livery and 47463 (which i modelled) being the last 47 surviving in all-over corporate blue without any kind of embellishments (orange strips, motifs etc), both loco's gone by 1995.
Hi Soi, Another trip down memory lane - great stuff. The class 47,706 in de-branded Scotrail livery (@3.05) was/is available in model form from Kernow Model Railways.
I have that model. :-)
Just had a set two with the trouble and strife. This video has cheered me up immensely. Thank God for proper trains. Thank you Soi. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟ESPECIALLY CLASS 47'S 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I'm pleased you enjoyed it......
It's not often a locomotive becomes a celebrity due to it being tatty, but 47706 certainly was! In her push pull days, I travelled in front of her between Edinburgh and Kirkcaldy!
Excellent video 👍👍👍
Thank you 👍
I like how the Class 43 HST screams when departing from a station.
The Valenta engines were good for that......
That first HST was a CrossCountry service, with ex East Coast power cars, but it was eight car with two first class. That's mildly unusual
Spot the ex HST prototype MK3 in the first HST set that passes
The first 1st class coach, no silver trim round the windows.
Good spot, I travelled in one of the prototype TSO's about this time, one other feature that they kept was a partition half way along the saloon.
Also 47823 there, one of the lesser seen 47/8s, it became 47787 in 1994
One i had for haulage once, on the Penzance Sleeper to Plymouth....
great to see 706 again - one of the last 47/7''s in the Scotrail livery.
Yes, it ran with NSE in that livery until withdrawn.....
Ooooh and 37254, the 37 me and her spotted at Spa Valley, quite historical too then!!
47706 looks in a worse state than some of the 50's it was sent to replace....😄
But the 47s were cheaper to repair when they failed.... Plus being a tatty one probably meant is was so reliable they could never take it out of service for a repaint....
47706’s train is an all-first class set?!
Six of the eight coaches were I think. Must have been assembled from what spare coaches they could find at Eastleigh (where the stock was maintained by then)
That dude strolling across the crossing at3:21with not a high vis in sight; was he a railway employee?
Don’t think in 1992 hi vis were mandatory yet
Either railway or maybe post office staff.....
125!
🚂👍
