The "problem" with Cody's title run is The SmackDown roster: they spent so much time with Roman on top and nobody wanting to challenge for his title that it shoehorned the entire roster in to the mid and lower card.
And that's where they are now: all the heels on SmackDown are pretty much losers except Logan Paul, who has a title and seems content with it... and the only realistic threats to end Cody's title run are faces Kevin Owens, Randy Orton and to a degree LA Knight.
Its like if they had Cody defending against Santos Escobar or Shinsuke - yes those guys can wrestle, one has a faction behind him and one was a past great... but neither can get the job done and if that was Cody's announced match at SummerSlam you aren't going to watch it with anticipation of "Could he lose the title here?"
And while they do have a bunch of heels on Friday nights, they aren't doing anything to elevate them to make them in to viable contenders... which means all we get to do is just sit back and wait until next year for The Rock to return at this rate, or hope they turn Randy or Kevin heel so there is a feud in the meantime.
I agree, didn't build anyone, part of the issue with roman and cody wwe booked themselves into a corner.
The feud with AJ was pretty good. Should Cody not have wrestled anyone until it looks like he might lose?
This has ALWAYS been WWE’s problem. Vince picked the 2-3 people he liked and they were the only ones we were allowed to take seriously. It is on them to build stars and give fans a reason to care.
Exactly. The biggest problem with Cody's title reign isn't Cody himself but the lack of credible heels to challenge him.

For example, Cody left WWE 4 months after AJ debuted and went to all of the same promotions that AJ went ton including TNA. He even joined Bullet Club. It was a missed opportunity, and the Mark Henry fake retirement rehash was just unnecessary.
I know Simon loves Cody and means well, so I listened to the entire video before commenting. I don't think most people in the comment section did😂

So in my opinion, Cody had a story to tell, but I also think his story will finish coming back to AEW. He jumped ship to be able to come back and bring wwe viewers with him. Then he can ride off into the sunset.

*I think Cody has been doing a fine and swell job of being the babyface champion that WWE needs. He still over with the crowd so I feel like that alone should mean he’s doing OK. The thing about wrestling fans nowadays what I really dislike is the way when something immediately happens they automatically turn against it and say that it’s boring, especially when it comes to babyfaces. That’s like immediately calling a movie boring after just literally watching the opening scene. Plus, people should at least give Cody credit for trying the best he can to make his championship reign work because anybody else who is in a spot of following Roman Reigns’ 4-year World title reign was obviously going to serve as a tough act to follow for most people.*

Well they are all bunch of MARKS! Cody is the champion we've been waiting for but they doubted him after a week. He did a pretty great job against AJ, Logan, and even Melo. The Final Boss is just taking a break that's why the real story is just about to happen in the future.
They just don't want Roman to ever lose. There were people who are invested in him passing Hogan. They think the Rock should be the one to dethrone Roman because he's the only big enough star to do it. It's stupid and Cody was good enough.

that was his greatest decision.
What was he going to do? The Rock technically outranks HHH. And besides, The Rock "hijacking" the business did everybody a favor, especially Seth Rollins since he finally got booked into main eventing a WM.

Roman Reings is going to be the biggest star in the WWE when he returns. Even without the belt Roman Reings is going to be the number one guy in the company.
What could save Cody Rhodes from being completely overshadowed by Roman Reings and The Bloodline story. Randy Orton is the only story that could save Cody Rhodes.
I mean, Roman kinda already overshadowing everyone else without being there, but you're right. When Roman does return, he will overshadow Cody. It's why they're so adamant about having the Rock & Randy feuds for Cody.
There's nothing wrong with Cody's title reign. Your opinion is based on a minority of internet trolls and not the majority of WWE fans.
@yomamasofat77 no, there is a problem with Cody Rhodes WWE Title reign. The problem is that he's not in a story of any significance since his win a Wrestlemania.
Sure, he's riding the wave of being the new champion but that wave is going to wear off. It's obvious the WWE has no real plan for Cody Rhodes week to week and is just buying time until SummerSlam or Survivor Series. The only good thing for Cody Rhodes is that Roman Reings is not around to overshadow him. And as time go on it becoming clear that Cody is better at chasing the belt than defending the belt.

@MoeCamera I don't really agree. I think solo is fine. Not super entertaining but he's cool. But even so I do agree randy Orton would be a better feud but at the same time I think solo challenging for Cody's title needs to happen as the catalyst for Roman reigns return.

Problem is they aren’t booking it right
Cody vs AJ: had so much history that could’ve been talked about. They should have had 3 matches instead of Logan vs Cody in between. The I Quit match hasn’t even been talked about nor have we seen AJ. The match also sucked for an I Quit match, but good for a regular match.
Cody vs Logan: One match is fine, but the feud should’ve been a bit longer and Logan should’ve brought up how everyone Cody goes against he’s signed too (Cody is a prime guy). This would’ve just added more fuel to the fire.
Cody vs Solo: Now it’s a 3 v 3 for some reason, I kinda get why but I’m tired of seeing RKO vs The Bloodline. It’s so freaking boring and they’ve been feuding for months even though it seemed like this feud should’ve been done months ago. I don’t mind Cody vs Solo, but this 3 team tag match (which we know will be a 3 v 4, because of Jacob) so I’m assuming Cody’s team will get a 4th guy, which is annoying because what are we gonna keep adding more and more people to this feud? Soon it’ll be the entire roster vs The Bloodline. I would’ve loved to see Cody go at The Bloodline solo (no pun intended)
And like multiple folks have said, there’s too many faces on Smackdown right now and it sucks for Cody because he doesn’t have those guys to fight.
I grew up with the attitude era and up until nearly the end of ruthless aggression, ill say the product is making me feel like a kid again and I'm loving it.
It is. I honestly thought it was boring after WrestleMania then a few weeks ago something changed.

HHH has plenty of fumbles. Overall, he's doing a pretty good job, but you're not being objective. HHH treating Santos Escobar and arguably Melo like a passing joke so far are fumbles. If VKM did to Melo and Escobar what HHH is doing to them right now, the internet would be crucifying him for "ruining" them nonstop.

i think they’ll do roman vs rock for night one of the next mania solo v rhodes for summerslam coming up and night two of this upcoming mania would probably be rhodes vs orton and the rock will cost rhodes the title against orton rhodes will eventually win it back from orton and then have the rock vs cody at mania after this upcoming one
I said it before Cody won the title, and I'm saying it now: why move him to SmackDown when he already had a bunch of feuds or storylines that he could've gone back to or started on Raw? Instead, he is having to make due with a roster that is not as top-heavy as Raw. Instead of AJ, his first opponent could have been Jey. Instead of Logan Paul, his second opponent could have been Drew. There were more possibilities for him on Raw.
One of Triple H's biggest blunders is having so many wrestlers and not doing much with them. Stop adding all these members to the Bloodline. Eventually they're going to get tired of the same storyline and going to want to do more stuff.

He does, this video is just directed at wwe. Also these what culture guys do lean towards AEW more as it’s a more adult oriented product. I love wwe for my kid. Get him into wrestling. I personally prefer aew as a grown man though.

I honestly think their biggest blunder may be bringing Jade up. She's not a natural and with her physique she should be dominating. She cant dominate because she's not a natural and needs work. I get why they brought her up but seeing how she looks she should dominate but she spends most of the match on the ground recuperating.

I'm really burnt out on The Bloodline. I have no desire to watch 3 hours of The Rock's Family Wrestling League. Yawn...and I HATE bread! Let's hope Randy Orton finally gets some momentum because his booking has been 💩. If it was HHH coming back from a significant injury, he'd already have a belt.
Looks like your burnout on the bloodline isn't gonna end anytime soon after the last episode of Smackdown. Which btw, the last scene alone is approaching 2 million views.

I agree. The blood line saga is cool, but doesn't need to be on tv every single week. The "we want roman" chants and the fact that they aren't letting the bloodline story breathe much makes me nervous that they are going to bring roman back too soon.

The Rock has singlehandedly drew more viewers to SD than Cody has any given week so far as WWE Champion. If anyone ought to retire, i'd say it's Cody. Cody has actually driven viewers away from the show.

This is EXACTLY why we should've had Rock vs Reigns at this year's WrestleMania instead of Cody and his stupid story.
Rock vs. Roman would have been a great match, and I dont think anyone was against the match itself. What people rebelled against was the screwing over of Cody, the blowing up of an existing storyline, and replacing it with a very awkward, twisted-up storyline just to get the "dream match".
Makes me wonder if the E-drones still think Cody is an AEW guy so they're still going after him. It's like they're determined to hate the guy no matter what.
