Stayed up super late to be on the back couch for this run, and I’m so glad I did. Easily the highlight of the event so far. I’m so glad that my donation got read at 19:45 and the discussion it sparked about this game’s original release and development! Been playing Doom 64 since I was really young (with home video footage of me at 4 years old playing), and I can only imagine what my young mind would have thought seeing a run like this. Thanks for such a great time, Zello!
Awesome! Well done Zelllooo, outstanding effort. Major props to chat for that last gasp push for dunking the incentive too, that was some GDQ highlight reel stuff right there, even if the warp glitch was super underwhelming! Here's to seeing you at AGDQ :)
Hi everyone, ZELLLOOO here! I hope you all enjoyed the run and I'm overall very happy with how this category went for a marathon, it was a blast! I do apologize for the warp incentive though, I definitely oversold it with how short it is and feel a bit bad seeing how underwhelming it felt to people despite being a funny piece of the game for me, I'll do a better job with incentives if I have another run in the future. Still thank you all for watching one of my favorite games and one of my most fun runs to do!
That gladiator room was amazing! The Terror Core berserk was a nice mercy haha. Interestingly that secret in Breakdown exists in the Doom 64 Alpha, but was removed in the final game. My guess is that in an engine update that secret was broken (it was pretty involved with scripting), so they just removed it.
this run is awesome! there's so much technical damage tanking. I also love how the bad guys attack one-another, I remember that being a unique part of Doom compared to other FPS of the era.
Nope, an un-upgraded unmaker is below plasma and plasma has higher DPS until the unmakers first upgrade. Though it's a hit scan weapon and not projectile. Awesome run Zelllooo!
commentator here, this isn't accurate in the context of the speedrun. While the plasma has a doubled fire rate that gives it a DPS edge in raw (avg roll)*(shots per second) calcs, both guns fire their first shot at the same time, so the plasma rifle only has more DPS when enough shots are fired. for example the unmaker fires its 3rd shot at the same time it takes the plasma to fire its 5th, so the unmaker is faster on average against many squishy enemies where rapid-fire weapons are used (unmaker is almost twice as likely to kill a pinky in 3 shots vs 5 plasma shots). However you're punished more when getting unlucky both in raw time and pain chance rolls so a live marathon run will still prefer the plasma.
@@eighteenspikes Huh, interesting for sure! I believe you, I need to test this. I've only looked at numbers, It's been a while so I quickly took a look at Decino's Doom 64 weapon differences video: Plasma: Damage 5-40 Damage per minute: 11,250 Rpm 450 Range Infinite Unmaker: (No Artifact) Damage 10-80 Damage per minute: 10,125 Rpm 225 Range 4096 This will be interesting. Haha
I'm only upvote number 665 😢 I thought about waiting in front of my phone screen until somone else hit like #665 so I could do the thing, but then i didn't do that at all because it's dumb.
This is one of the best runs of the event, but that glitch showcase felt like highway robbery man, lol

Do I need to know the plots of Dooms 1 through 63 to understand the plot of Doom 64?
Yes
Yes
Yes.
Yes, especially DOOM 24, 35, 41 and 62.5¾ final mix otherwise nothing makes sense.
it took me like 2 and a half years but you can do it faster with the new tech we have.

That was a really sick run but that glitch showcase at the end they hyped up so much felt like they played a prank on me.
Doom speedruns are something else. Theres so much going on, the couch cant even keep up with the gameplay. Insane stuff, well done

Zelllooo, my goodness, what an honor it was to host for you! You're amazing and this was so much fun to watch.
You're amazing back, thank you for a wonderful first hosting shift to help keep the excitement up all run!
Great having Peaches on the couch for a run

“we’re going to be doing a key bump”
Yea lmao I'm like wtf lmmao
13:19 Button!
Amazing run by my fellow Texan, Zelllooo!
Even though I grew up with the Id games, it still feels weird watching an FPS with no reload mechanic.
You guys should dual stream on youtube!
Key bumps :D
one of my first games was doom 2 on pc lol
doooooooom!!
amazing flashing warning
I love Doom 64. However, anyone who says this game has music is a liar.

@@AGZenith I think decino goofed, 11,250/450 is 25 damage per shot, which is higher than the average roll
