  • In the Season 4 premiere of Burger Scholar Sessions, George Motz celebrates two famous college-town burgers from the Midwest-the Theta Special near the OU campus, and the Duane Purvis near Purdue University. The first one features a special hickory sauce. While the second one is cooked like schnitzel and covered in peanut butter. George says if you want a great cheeseburger, always head to a college town. Why? "Duh, because students love burgers," says Motz. Get ready as George teaches you how to make two iconic Midwest burgers that are college-town favorites.

At XXX, if you combine the Duane Purvis burger with their Bert burger (basically just add bacon to the Purvis burger), they call it the Purv-Ert burger! Delicious!!!

I LOVE putting Peanut Butter on my burger. I usually do it with bacon, pepperjack cheese, and on a pretzel bun. Its sweet, savory, spicy, and absolutely delicious.

My friend, Austin had the Holiday House burger. Thin all beef patty, mayo, tomato, and shredded cheddar, smooshed to perfection. No lettuce, no onion, no mustard.

Fun Fact: There is a XXX Rootbeer burger place in Issaquah Washington. Not far from me. Their burgers aren't as good as they used to be though. They still make in house rootbeer that's pretty amazing.
