Make it so, number one! I hope this is where you got the inspiration for the name. With most videos posted about Game Dev being negative (about a engine or choices in design) or Affiliate Posting to get clicks It was so refreshing to see your honesty with the last video. I liked and subscribed when normally I never do so.. I dislike the Algorithm knowing anything of my preferences lol. You will succeed because you care enough to admit that you don't know it all. I have an Idea for a game that I am learning the GODOT engine. I care that everything I use is opensource and I know C# from my day job so it made sense to me. I also am a Hobby Artist so I have those skills that will transfer well. The Discipline as you pointed out is the hardest part, especially when it may be something that is more difficult. I may join your discord but being a child of the late 70s, Discord does not make sense to me lol. Like I know how to type and hit send lol. Maybe I'm just too lazy to learn something new lol. Anyways, Keep up the Good Work and I am sending positive vibes!!
Awesome! Godot would be my next engine of choice. Discord is basically just a group chat with a ton of functionality. Make It So was actually NOT inspired by Star Trek. I came up with the name because so many game devs say the phrase “make it so” when they describe some feature in their games. Like, “I want to ‘make it so’ the enemy blocks your attack…” After I looked up the phrase I realized it was from Star Trek so that’s where the inspiration for my channel icon came from.
I dont have an idea for how to make the game unique, but I do think sometimes doing game jams help. Take your project and mutate it for a game jam in a huge way, and don't keep those changes. It lets you prototype a different branch of the game that might be more interesting.
For some reason I can’t get myself to do a game jam. Never have yet. I feel like I don’t operate well on such constraints. But in the future I’m gonna make myself try one.
Just had a look at the vids on your channel.... I think the greenscreen on the thumbnail is why I clicked your last vid. I'm so used to seeing "clickbait" thumbnails, yours stood out because it was less edited. TBH These are the only 2 I've watched, overedited/clickbait turns me off clicking
If you want playtesters. You need to find your target audience. Most devs are not going to be your target. Perhaps try asking a local school/collage if you can set up your game in the lunch room and let anyone play who wants to
If you want to maintain this momentum, I think you're going to need to either make your video snappier or give us something more to look at. I fear you're going to lose viewers due to a lack of, uh, entertaining content, let's say. Remember that you're an entertainer. You don't have to be fun, you don't have to be snappily paced, you don't have to have great visuals or editing. . . but you have to have _something,_ I think you'd agree.
Why do I need to join your discord server to play the demo? As a general rule - you should be making it easier for me to be exposed to your game, not harder.
Totally get it! My goal is to build a great community and involve people in the development process. Hope to see you in the Discord if you want to stay in the loop and share your thoughts on the game!

I turned 40 this summer, I feel ya.
Just checked out the Ninja game and it's definitely a lot of fun! Keep at it!
Happy birthday! I turn 30 in about 2 months.
Congrats! You have the core of the game done right, which is that that the gameplay is smooth and fun. Running feels wicked fast.
You’re the man, man! Glad to see you’re finding your path
Appreciate that! Thanks for checking in.
Keep up the good work. !

As for the "unique" thing, I think having really good animations and movement, within the context of THIS kind of game, is all the hook you need.
I don't why but you remind me of Sergey Brin.
Sergey is my son
@@makeitsogames no wonder 😅
