The Hawk fucking rules. I love this song and his loose vibe, just going for it and having fun, and that quip about him not being there to do drum solos after he delivers one, great humility. What a fucking dude.
Such an incredible talent.... Gone too soon Love you, Taylor Bad ass on the Skins Bigger & Badder than he's ever been, now... May your Body Rest In Peace... So, your Soul can fly forever & ever
Taylor’s fantastic, but I must say…. if the only thing you knew about him is that he’s the drummer in Dave Grohl’s band you could bank on him being a great drummer. I love that they are similar in that they both play hard and straightforward while ticking like an atomic clock.
My man put on a fucking one man show!! This was one of the first performances of Taylor’s that I stumbled across after becoming a Foo fan. God DAMN Taylor had a for real groove to his playing. 🥰 I LOVE it. I cried like a baby when he left us
I played drums in a couple different bands, over the years ... Sang backup vocals on a few songs. What Taylor is doing here... is SO INCREDIBLY FUCKING DIFFICULT. He makes it look easy. I can't do that.
I'd rather have a great drummer that can write songs, sing and play multiple instruments then have the greatest drummer in the world and that's all he does. I don't care if you can play the world's greatest drum solo or can shred on guitar for a week straight, if you don't have originality you're worthless. IMO. Taylor has a lot more going on than just being a phenomenal drummer, he can write and record his own album just like DG. What more could you ask for.
That's fair comment Ariel, I get it, individual drummers just do what they do & some are great in there respective fields. That would make Hawkins great, (rock/pop), & Harrison great, (jazz/ prog rock). From a listeners point of view I suppose it's whatever floats your boat!
Truly a great showman. Chops are great but also boring. Hawkins has just enough to get him in the door, but, as he humbly acknowledges, he's there to kick out the jams not wow people with ghost notes and paradiddles. Loved it.
Good drummer, no doubt about it, but I've always wondered what it was that prevented him & other good drummers reaching the technically very high standards that we see from so many great drummers today, the likes of Gavin Harrison etc, etc, etc..... I know they play different genres, but I'm talking about ability. Was it no lessons, is it they were self taught so then they'll hit there natural talent wall, lack of practice, just not wanting to be the best that he or she could be??
Hawkins has great technique, he is just not a virtuoso like the guys you've mentioned. He has a pop rock mind. His talents are so much in composing as performing. Let me say this: why do all of the guys you said are great musicians are known for their ability, but dont take part in great bands? Its just two different paths on music: virtuose and pop music. With all that said, he is well above average in rock band drummers.
He's like Grohl. A good rock drummer. Everything is at the same level, very little accents or dynamics. Not even close to guys like Weckl, Gavin Harrison, Todd Sucherman. He's a good entertainer. He twirls & grabs cymbals like his hero Roger Taylor. That's cool.
I'm obviously not smoking what you are! Watch '19 Days' 'Anethetize' or 'Killer Joe' etc by Gavin Harrison or drummers like Weckl, Steve Smith, Tony Royston Jr, Vinnie Colaiuta & my previous comment should become clear, if it doesn't then there's nothing I can do to help you. I repeat, Hawkins is a good, entertaining drummer but not top draw, not even close.
so what, he writes fantastic music and is worth far more money than we could ever dream of, granted being the best drummer in the world would be great but to be fair those guys get no money , no girls , and no real Praise for there efforts except from other elitist musicians , Taylor is tight as a teenagers ring piece he is a good singer and a very successful man I doubt he cares to much about being a virtuoso and to be honest I would much rather be in his shoes than say Mike portnoys
Just cause he's somewhat better than Grohl at drumming doesn't mean much to deep do every kind of music drummers. But f Grohl for making the guy take the kill shot. HUh?
So what makes a drummer special? How fast they can go? stick tricks? What about the ability to be a reliable and a strong drummer in his pocket? He can sing and play drums, that right there is not easy. Taylor is one of the best drummers I'd say. Not bashing your personal opinion but your opinion on what makes a great drummer needs to change.
My man put on a fucking one man show!! This was one of the first performances of Taylor’s that I stumbled across after becoming a Foo fan. God DAMN Taylor had a for real groove to his playing. 🥰 I LOVE it. I cried like a baby when he left us

Bad ass on the Skins

underrated drummer
underrated musician*
Not really bruh hes an amazing drummer that is definitely respected amongst many other famous musicians and musicians/music lovers in general
Over ated IMO
@@drummersinger5324 L
All he could play was straight 8 rock. If you can't shuffle or swing or play bad ass slow blues you are a limited scrub
Taylor is a great time keeper !!
Oh my fucking god 😮😱 It takes fucking talent to be able to play drums like that and sing at the same time
Epic session.
R.I.P. "Master" Murio Taylor Hawkins.
At least top 3 performances in drum off history.
I was previously unaware that Taylor could sing as well, which makes him 2x as talented :D
BLANTTA2 I wouldn't call that singing but only love for Hawkins, I can't even chew gum and walk at the same time.
He can sing. He does a perfect Robert Plant Impersonation.
You call that singing!
Does a mean Bowie and decent Mercury
@@bluealvey oof. Rest in peace, Taylor.
Holy shit! Taylor is an animal! The guy can whale on those drums! I have always thought he rocked, but Wow! Very cool!
Still can't believe he's gone 💔. So sorry for his wife, his children, family, friends, band mates, crew, Dave & his family. 🙏😥✝️
2:57.... ok as a musician I will ask other musicians, how sick was that dry start? it was clean AF.
It was cool as hell
Dohel Asencio I damn near came
2:11 is even more impressive
They're a hell of lot tighter than his "other" band.
Yeah.
Crazy (beautiful!) drum machine...just terrific ! :)
Man he's a beast🤘🏼
This guy is just a whole lot of fun to watch always upbeat super hi energy level and just a regular nice guy even if he worked a Walmart.
I'll miss you T ❤️🦅 one of a kind
Taylor’s fantastic, but I must say…. if the only thing you knew about him is that he’s the drummer in Dave Grohl’s band you could bank on him being a great drummer. I love that they are similar in that they both play hard and straightforward while ticking like an atomic clock.
Taylor, You are totally flippin' awesome! You are beyond good, you definitely demonstrate commitment and passion. :-)
Taylor is awesome!!
@2:54 "defiantly not here to do drum solos am I"? Oh Taylor, I beg to differ...you are a monster man!
He is my favorite drummer I swear..
Jeesus soikoon, what a human dynamite that man was!
Bestial!...
Taylor Hawkins the best💜🤘🤘💜
My man put on a fucking one man show!! This was one of the first performances of Taylor’s that I stumbled across after becoming a Foo fan. God DAMN Taylor had a for real groove to his playing. 🥰 I LOVE it. I cried like a baby when he left us

He makes it look easy.
I can't do that.
Totally amazing!
My favorite! ❤
#taylorrocks
Bonzo reincarnation. Love his energy!
I'll buy that! 😎💣🎸
that drum solo was pretty dope
Rip legend :(
I would love to see a project where Taylor drums and sings all the songs! Kinda reminds me of The Band!
The best Taylor ❤
I remember when I saw him playing with Alanis on Letterman back in the 90's and I was like.....who the fuck is that kid?
YES!!! And now he is the best rock drummer on the planet!!
Great drummer, Great guy and what you see is a multitalented ball of fun. Taylor and Dave Grohl are two great bands put together. LOL. 👍!
❤TAYLOR
3:26 ...so badass oldschool! ahaha, great!
Miss you already…….💔🙏🏻😢
no octapad??? im surprised they even let him play at the GC drumoff lol
Rip Taylor
absolute rockstar
Best singing drummer on the planet.
One of.
Andy Hay. He is the best to me.
An old school rock drummer that actually rocks and a new school super drummer that doesn't do gospel chops 🤘
what is the issue with gospel chops?
fuck yeah
Awesome :-)
Not here for drum solos?? Really, I thought that was really cool!
I'd rather have a great drummer that can write songs, sing and play multiple instruments then have the greatest drummer in the world and that's all he does. hell, yeah! \m/
RIP

What pattern is he playing at 2:38? Sounds like double bass but I don’t think he has two pedals….
Triplets
Truly a great showman. Chops are great but also boring. Hawkins has just enough to get him in the door, but, as he humbly acknowledges, he's there to kick out the jams not wow people with ghost notes and paradiddles. Loved it.
Also, I must just add, I think Dream Theater, King Crimson, Porcupine Tree etc etc are great bands.
What time signature is this? Fucking rad
i think 4/4 but he switches the down beat.
😈👌😱😱😲
He's Bass Ass on this one ☝️ 👍🏻
he is better than dave grohl as a drummer.
Morreu 😞😢
What's song is this ?
"Get up I want to get down" by Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders
Good drummer, no doubt about it, but I've always wondered what it was that prevented him & other good drummers reaching the technically very high standards that we see from so many great drummers today, the likes of Gavin Harrison etc, etc, etc..... I know they play different genres, but I'm talking about ability. Was it no lessons, is it they were self taught so then they'll hit there natural talent wall, lack of practice, just not wanting to be the best that he or she could be??
What are you smoking Taylor Hawkins has already gone well beyond those high standards you speak of
Hawkins has great technique, he is just not a virtuoso like the guys you've mentioned. He has a pop rock mind. His talents are so much in composing as performing. Let me say this: why do all of the guys you said are great musicians are known for their ability, but dont take part in great bands? Its just two different paths on music: virtuose and pop music.
With all that said, he is well above average in rock band drummers.
You have to realize, those are not uneven levels of technique. Those are different styles of playing you speak of.
Well...he is rich!
Can anyone tell me what time signature this song was? Thanks
7
taylor hawkins rocks!
But the guitarist is spoiling the song -_-'
He's like Grohl. A good rock drummer. Everything is at the same level, very little accents or dynamics. Not even close to guys like Weckl, Gavin Harrison, Todd Sucherman. He's a good entertainer. He twirls & grabs cymbals like his hero Roger Taylor. That's cool.
That crowd sucks.

All legends, but none of them play in the Foos. Billy Cobham is and was a legend, but he didn't play in Led Zeppelin. End of story.
Matt cameron is my personal favorite drummer, cheers mate
Who cares? Not all drummers aim to be "top draw" - some just want to entertain.
Wow, decent song, I just assumed Taylor’s second band sucked as bad as his first! I was wrong
also complete john bonham rip off during that little solo break. nothing insane.
Just cause he's somewhat better than Grohl at drumming doesn't mean much to deep do every kind of music drummers. But f Grohl for making the guy take the kill shot. HUh?
Great talent but that song was horrible.
Impressive drums but dumb song.
i dont really see him as that special or great of a drummer. seems like a very basic rock drummer. just my personal opinion.
Rex Ross oh and try to sing at the same time and remember all the lyrics...
Well fucking said man.
He might be good but That was straight up terrible. Ow my freekin ears
My man put on a fucking one man show!! This was one of the first performances of Taylor’s that I stumbled across after becoming a Foo fan. God DAMN Taylor had a for real groove to his playing. 🥰 I LOVE it. I cried like a baby when he left us
