  • How to paint a watercolour daisy
You can now buy the exact same brushes that I use in my videos in my Etsy store! www.etsy.com/u...
I am so excited to start painting some beautiful flowers in my new botanical painting style. The daisy is a great example of how to paint white petals on white watercolour paper. These daisies were growing like weeds in the cracks between paving stones outside our house. I want to paint flowers that are accessible to everyone.
If you've enjoyed this video and would like to support me further take a look at my Patreon page at bit.ly/3briO5P to see what we've got to offer.
To capture the details you will need to invest in some small brushes, in subzero sizes. Find the link below for the Proarte masterstroke brushes.
Colours we used (link below to buy paint tubes)
    Lemon Yellow
    Cadmium Yellow
    Permanent Rose
    Cobalt Violet
    Sap Green
    Green Gold
    Raw Umber
    Prussian Blue
Don't worry if you don't have all these colours, you can look at my colour chart episode (bit.ly/30r7stq) to learn how to mix your own shades from a simple 12 pan student range palette.
I'd love to hear your suggestions for things you would like to learn how to paint in the comments below.
I'd really appreciate it if you like and subscribe as well as visiting my website de Winton Paper co (bit.ly/2ZgRlj8) for watercolour kits, worksheets and my watercolour book 'New Botanical Painting' (bit.ly/3dWBsD3). You can find plenty more gorgeous watercolour illustrations on my Instagram too - / dewintonpaperco
At the time of filming the Kindle version of 'New Botanical Painting' is just 99 - amzn.to/2WvUEkn
Paint: Winsor and Newton Artist Quality - bit.ly/3dJHarN
    Brush: Pro Arte Masterstroke series 60 size 2,6, 2/10 - bit.ly/2LCtli6
Paper Daler Rowney Aquafine cold-pressed paper - bit.ly/3cmQSzn
You will also need a pencil.

😍absolutely gorgeous Harriet! ✨just what I was needing! I have been trying some of the looser tutorials thinking I should start with simpler examples but I wasn't too happy with my results...I'm not a natural at loose style so this example with more definition and detail looks just perfect for me to try a looser approach💖 this daisies piece is so delightful! I will definitely treat myself to this tutorial this weekend😀thank you so much again for sharing such wonderful tutorials!💖

You make hard work seem easy. That is what artists do. I really appreciate your videos. They teach me a lot and I think, just think, I am getting a little better in watercolor painting. If not, at least I enjoy every time a try. Thank you very much.

I believe what you have is called a Wild Aster. They come in variety of colors. At least that’s what we call it in Murphy North Carolina USA
Love your tutorials ! I’ve ordered your bushes & animal book. Can’t wait to receive them.

Morning Harriet - I'm going to try to paint these shortly for a birthday card - I think they are erigeron or fleabane.

As usual, absolutely lovely! I really like the combination of detail and looseness in the flowers, and found the tips (especially on the importance of painting carefully and in stages when you're dealing with a very wet and dilute paint) very useful

Thanks Kim, Yes I like painting in this style because it results in a detailed, accurate looking flower whilst keeping the flow of loose painting.

I just recently found you, going back thru your history (& loving your art & teaching). Regardless whether these are daises or asters, like hydrangeas, petals change colors due to the soil acidity. Hope this helps.

I agree with Christina! Ditto my feelings.
I do do however wish the camera was closer to be able to see clearly the detailing & how the colours & water “moves”.
      LOVE LOVE LOVE your work♥️♥️♥️

Very pretty and such helpful videos, thank you.
I think some are pink because a daisy is not just one flower, a number of flowers make up the disc in the middle and the petals aren't really petals. The name daisy is also supposed to be a corruption of 'day's eye' because the petals close at night time.

Someone may have answered your question about pink/white… but those are little wild asters, not daisies, and as the blossom gets older it turns pink. :-) Love your tutorials and just subscribed yesterday.
