I’m 1 of 8 kids and lived in Quarry Hill. Just reminds me of how we entertained ourselves on a rainy day. We would play role programmes like Little Rascals and Old Mother Riley. Those flats were freezing so a day in the wash house warmed us up. My sister would put the nappies in the electric ringer and I would catch ‘em at tuther side.
How come the opening titles in colour from later series look exactly the same? I heard there was a lost episode of something like Are You Being Served recorded in black -&-white video and yet all the colour info was somehow encoded on the old video tape and so converting to colour was easy
There was a colour strike at ITV companies which ran from 13 November 1970 to 8 February 1971, this affected a lot of ITV companies programmes that were made during that time, this being one of them.
Why do you cut out the music at the end & also the tune at the beginning of every episode is a bit messed up? TH-cam wont take the vids down if thats the reason... anything under “Yorkshire television’ no longer have copyright infringement, due to the Copyright being out of date
@@scorpioguy3234 The copyright gets renewed when it gets released and it was taken over by ITVplc when Yorkshire TV was taken over. The music is messed up on the DVD release and was probably like that on original broadcast. After all, the film of the opening titles looks like it was dragged through a hoover bag before being played, why do you think they gave a shit about the sound quality?

There was a color strike. True Wikipedia
Brilliant
Was it filmed in a pub or set?
Thanks for these K ow. I've really enjoyed them. Can you tell me where I can watch Series 2 and 3 please? Nik :-)
These were originally broadcast in 1971. When did YTV begin colour broadcasting? Was it ~ January, '72?
This episode was aired 10th December 1970, it is in Black and White due to the ITV Colour Strike. ITV started colour transmissions in 1969.
