I own the premium one, bought it back in 2014 before they jacked up the price, and it’s literally a fucking monstrous plane lol, you can outturn anyone, and no one expects a small biplane to feature two canons, it’s glorious.
My first premium, i bought the one with 20mm though. It has 530%sl multiplier but slow and reaching the battlefield only to die to aa is the best mechanic indeed.

@@alexplace4628 it hits hard indeed, provided you can aim. The problem you are facing are aa both in ground and air match. And lots of inactivity due to how slow it is relative to monoplane
@@alexplace4628 2 years late but the cannon chaika is genuinely one of the most fun to fly planes in the game, given that its a biplane at 2.7 or smth
I fought an ultra tryhard Chaika pilot with hundreds of games in it when I started the French tree recently, just chased him back to af (of course a seal clubber wants to camp af, typical) boom & zooming him until he couldn't move and like you said, it's a super easy shot at that point.
So was he camping the airfield, or was he just coming back to repair, because you fumbled a bit there.

Thats my first prem plane, it is very maneuverable. When you play well, the next BR battle is higher, and there I shot down 5-6 planes, 2 Spitfires shot down at once on dogfight. 4 SHKAS realy awesome Guns

I-153P is very nice too, and you get like over 70 backups when you buy it for someh reason. Fighting monoplanes at 3.0 using a biplane with 20mms is very fun.

They built a CR.42 with a DB601 engine. It even had armament, unfortunately it was the standard 12.7 Bredas. Still holds the record for fastest biplane ever at 323mph.

I always get my friends to uptier me when I want to play the I-153s, particularly the P (cannon chaika). It's annoying when people think you're trying to be funny by bringing a biplane to 4.7-6.7, but it's genuinely the best spot for the Chaikas in my experience. Always idiots who underestimate you because you're a biplane, ALWAYS atleast one guy who will full commit a turn fight. Absolutely wonderful planes and a very good money maker. And it's always an ego boost to get top of the team in after everyone doubting you (or trying to teamkill you).
The i153P is nuts the cannons are insane for its BR
Back in the day I had a chance to experiment with speed vs maneuverability. More precisely Fokker Dr.1 vs Bristol fighters SPAD VII and S.XIII, and S.E.5a. I found that speed was by far the most important of the two. I could set up, attack and disengage at will. The Dr.1 was only ever at an advantage against unskilled or distracted enemies.

Some videos back you said you'll do a video on CL-13B, being the plane that you like. I'm really interested what you think of it now, cause I flew it yesterday after a long time and man... I think they changed the flight model by a lot. Like in a ''look how they massacred my boy'' way. I was pulling 7-8g at like 850kmh, it's really stiff at high speeds and I just struggled with planes that I remember having no trouble with. I did not have boosters equipped, thats true.
I did 8 games, got 8 uptiers. And although it's 9.3 now, with all-aspect aam around and nerfed flight model, it's not good.
Put boosters on if you haven't, it doesn't rip with them now and is less stiff than without
J2M2 is actually pretty fast, I think it's around as fast as G6 on the deck, it has better climb, it turns comparable to Spitfire Mk IX F and has decent armanent on top of that. The only real disadvantge? Locks up badly above 650. But that's really it. It's a 4.7-5.0 plane sitting at 4.3 because "reasons".
Pretty spot on but I'll give more specific numbers. The J2M2 is kind of fast at low alts. On the deck it is ~10-20kmh slower than the 109G-6 which itself is only about average level flight speed wise. The higher you go the slower the J2M2 seems to get. It can't quite turn with a F.IX Spit but it is still very close and is one of the most maneuverable at the BR. Oh, and it has a sustained climb rate above 30m/s beyond 2km. The next closest fighter below 5.0 is the Ki-44-II at 27m/s (and that used to be at 2.7!). The best 109 below 5.0 falls just shy of 27m/s sustained. That said the 109F-4 and Gs can still beat the Ki-44-II to 5km because the 109s don't have to deal with a gear change alt that the Ki-44-II does. The J2M2 is a 5.0 minimum fighter. The J2M3 is dang near the exact same plane but with 4 20mms (the performance hit from the added 20mms are not noticeable without WTRTI) and it more than holds its own above 5.0.

@@martijn9568 When I up tiered it to 3.7 while it was still 2.7 I still got 10 kills in 5 games. Sure the guns were weak but you had the performance to dance around most enemies until you got a solid shot in that crippled them. It was insanely ridiculous at 2.7 bad guns or not and never should have been below 3.3. At 2.7 it was the best climbing plane around by far, one of the fastest around and one of the best turning.
At the moment Japanese 12.7s hit like 20mms thanks to the HE rounds getting the frag buff so there isn't a reason to complain about the firepower anymore.
It also "airbrakes" hard at 100% prop pitch and 0 throttle.
@@rainsilent Actually it absolutely can turn with Spitfire Mk IX F. It's been tested by the Beer Thunder guy. And since J2M2 has excellent power to weight, if it goes climbing spiral, Spitfire has no chance.
And yeah, exactly, J2M3 is not better performance wise and all of the sudden armanent + some ammo means 4 BR steps increase.

My first time in sim I nearly shit myself as this thing was following me all the way to base. I knew I couldn't out turn it but I couldn't run from it either. Fortunately he didn't have good aim and I managed to land with all red.

1. Go head on with everyone
2. Don't go head on with the A-36😉
The I-16s are a mixed bag. Great roll, good turn, below average climb and poor speed. The enemy either has to be forced to turn with you or be dumb enough to for the higher BR ones. In my opinion the best ones to fly are either the first one or I think it is the 3rd or 4th one. The first one actually has good performance for the BR but has a weak engine that leaves you wishing for more. The next one I suggest is the first that has an upgraded engine that gives a noticeable improvement to the aircraft's performance. After that one the only real addition to later models is the 20mm Shvaks but those come with a noticeable performance hit and BR bump at the same time.

@@ZephYr045 The I-16s above 2.0 are close to 50mph slower than the average speed for the BR. They are barely faster than biplanes while lacking the turning and they lack having an improved climb rate to make up for it. If you are going to fly anything from the I-15/I-16 family above 2.0 you might as well just go full meme and fly the 153s rather than half ass it with the I-16 type 24, 27 or 28 that are barely faster, barely climb better yet turn noticeably worse. That is just my opinion though and I also do recognize that the I-16s present a unique middle ground between the Yaks, LaGGs and La-5s and the I-153s. I'd just rather fly the vastly superior Yaks or Las or go full meme with the 153.
I never stop using this plane since the day I got it for free, I even use it on 6.0 realistic ground battles becose you can destroy any tank with his rockets

So, for whatever reason I am an absolute satan in Biplanes, my best games of all time in Arcade and Realistic have been in them -- what faction's planes do you think fly the most like them? Excellent stall speed, slow, good climb, highly agile, does anything match that? Even a single line of planes from within a nation? I want the Biplane experience all the way to 10.0 I love flying them!!!

Meh... it can be a LOT of fun ( the 153-P ), but there are better buys, IMO. Get the XP-50 or XP-55.
If you want fun, yes. Either I-153P (20mm chaika), or the Ki-44-II Otsu (OP Japanese 40mm spud gun plane) for maximum fun per GE ratio.
If you want something to grind, buy the pack with the A6M5 Ko or whatever that premium zero is, it’s a great deal. It will earn you a bunch of SL if you’re good at using zeros.
Or alternatively you could get a rank 3 or 4 of a tree you haven’t grinded much, I got the Ta-154 for this reason.

It is entirely dependent on what the opponent does on if you will have fun or if the match will suck. There is no in between. I would say that there are better premiums to grab instead.

What, with a piddly .30cal and a single .50 with all of 200 rounds? Nah bro. The I-153P is the _pinnacle_ of biplanes in this game. I've legit used its 20mms to beat F4U Corsairs in head-ons, killed Me 262s in ground battles, and even have bombed an M103 with it.

I've whacked enough XP-50s flying the Beaufighter Mk21 to know that it's not the plane, it's about how you use its strengths. And I know that the F3F is probably only as good as it is due to the fact that it's a sealclubber lol
@@no-legjohnny3691 a Beaufighter Mk.21 has no strengths compared to an XP-50, like actually none at all. The onyl reason you kill an XP-50 in any of the Beaufighters is because the XP-50 just throws because he doesnt have hands or a brain malfunction.
