Noam is my new favorite bluegrass banjo player. He plays the stuff I've had in my head for some time. Awesome jam!

This is a phenomenal version of the tune, but can we talk about the name for a second?... Why? Why new camptown races? Why not just come up with a new song title? It sounds nothing like camptown races haha there's the Bob Wills school of naming conventions where you just stick new in the front of something and you add lyrics

    Hoss style

Amazing, but it’s so fast that the tune becomes distorted & melody gets lost.

Noam plays this way too fast. It’s not about how many notes you can get in in a second. He loses the feeling and should by the speed. It technically great and musically thin. No soul. The sad thing is he’s a great technician. He has the ability to play better.

David Volkman have you heard his new album? Still fast, Waveland can bring you to tears 😏 He's slow in Punch Brother's Julep too, and that's an absurdly beautiful song

Well...God knows we wouldn't want Noam to play it the way he hears it and have fun...it must be done YOUR way to be "correct." Got it....

There’s no “my way”. I was adding my thoughts to the string of other people’s thoughts. I didn’t say he’s a *#$&##! I don’t know the man and he may be a great guy. I just was stating that i felt it was not as good as he could have played it. I just listened to it again and I feel the same way. He took it too fast. If he plays it a bit slower the embellishments would be a bit stronger. He has the ability and I get that this is a recording of a live performance that may be at the end of a long day or week. Sometimes when you’re tired you can rush things just from using reserve energy. Anyway, I respect his talent and ability. Just felt that if he had played it a bit slower it could have sounded better.

Hey everyone, I respect David's point of view. As A banjo player myself, I didn't have a problem with the tempo, but I do agree that a slightly slower speed would have elicited more of a groove--perhaps some rhythmic nuances that are sometimes lost with fast tempos.. Have some consideration for the opinions of others, what do you say.
