These two on a gig with Julian lage and Chris Eldridge would be AWESOME
I think the hardest job in the world is playing a guitar on the same stage as Bryan Sutton
obviously you've never tried to do brain surgery on a frigate.
Bryan Sutton’s probably my favorite guitar player and his technical prowess is unbeatable but that second Daves solo was as good as it gets. Unbelievably tasty so much soul and funk. Love seeing people hold their own with Sutton on stage but excelling him even more rare and cooler.
Billy Strings.............
I love it! You can see it in Michael's face during Bryan's first solo and even he can't believe it! What a great set...
michael daves is amazing but bryan sutton is out of this world
Michael is a superb flatpicker. However, Bryan was unconscious. That run was absolutely insane. BTW, Tony Rice played that song as well
Love the picking. Love the end.
I laughed. What Joy!
Maple is my pick beautiful playing thank you love from Ireland
that guitar playing just blew my mind. I'm either going to give up or practice till I drop. I guess I'll start practicing.
Me oh my...that's a dream team there.
Doc would love this.
Doc would. That's 'his' version and Sutton has raised the stakes a mite. Very impressive. Love people who work hard to master music like that.
holy cow!
You guys make a great duo
You are an inspiration! Thank you very much for sharing your incredible talent. More!
I heard 100 men and thousands instruments playing! Great music!
Made my day! Simply incredible.
This Is Just GREAT!!!!!
Wow
made my hell day feel better
I got to go practice!!
the circle will be unbroken!!
Holy smokes. I think I died and went to musical heaven.
All I can say is, WOW!!!!!
Wow, I just went to school!
Awesome arrangement fellas
Mind blowing .
Best flat picking I have seen without a doubt.
There is no 'better' here, just different
I'd normally go along with that but to my (admittedly non-expert) ears, Daves's playing sounds almost laboured compared to Sutton's. And I still consider Daves a phenomenal guitarist!
Skip James cover, isn't it? Anybody? Thanks!
yeeeeahhhh
2019
Does ANYONE have chords for this? PLEASE!!!
Jonathan Caro dokcso Or you might say that this song takes the form IV-I-V-I so Bryan is playing the shapes F-C-G-C, but he's capoed up two frets. Michael's playing G-D-A-D, and he's in 'drop-D' tuning, that is his low string is dropped from E to D (he does that a lot). The song is just a little unusual for being in the key of D, but starting with G.
Just choose any 3 chords you want
yeah but that don't mean he can't hang with him. you see Bryon get real but Dave's gave it right back. kinda had a pissing contest there haha but it's good tale from both parties.
I dont think anyone in bluegrass does that. Everyone respects everyone else I think.
Oooweee Them two can pick more notes than the number of notes on a Tennessee ant hill. Tricked out Bluegrass at its finest.
1:32-1:37 what is that technique? inside picking? cant work it out
+Jack Reilly - I think that's just quick, clean, cross-pickin'
Bill Figeley yeh! thats it, so hard
so very hard - Mr. Sutton has obviously put in his time on it.
Bill Figeley he's the best in the business
Yep, cross picking. Check out Doc Watson's original version of Beaumont Rag. Clarence White and Don Reno did it pretty early too but I think Doc was the first.
I have a cousin named Brian Sutton that plays bluegrass. lol
Though, he's not quite as good as Bryan. haha
The picking here doesn't seem at all reasonable. I think it's all photoshopped.
