I've heard for so long everyone complaining about the drummer because he's not Bill Ward, but check out the groove in the faster ending here. It swings and is amazing.

Let's not overlook Geezer on the bass - his playing is superb.

THE song that started it all. The line in the sand for the musically timid with the sign that reads: "Abandon all hope Ye who enter here!" For this is the big bang of Metal music!

The last CD/the Tour was called THE END.....BLACK SABBATH was the First Song of their First LP back in 1970.Last Concert ever in their Hometown Birmingham.

Tony had to detune his guitar to take tension off the strings, which made them easier to depress. Thus, the deeper, darker sound....heavy metal is born!

    • @gilbertspader7974

Actually he didn’t detune his guitar on a studio album till Masters of Reality their 3rd album. How ever if you look at the live shows from 1970 they are always tune tuned down a half step.

Surprised you did not know a little more about this song since you previously reacted to an earlier version. You really need to hear the studio original, live versions are great but that was their first song, on their first album and the vibe coming through from that track was different and more ominous and heavy than anything me and my high school friends ever heard. The studio mix is spot on even at that early stage for the band and Iommi's solo is superior and almost puts you in a trance it is so powerful.
That album changed the course of music and my father's generation just did not get it, I saw a friend's father break the vinyl album over his knee after barging into the room screaming at us, said we would all go to Hell for listening to it. I laugh thinking about it now but it took forever to get Sabbath on commercial radio, society kinda feared that music for awhile. I say Rock On and have been for most of my 67 years.
Try the amazing suite off the second side of Black Sabbath I, do A Bit of Finger/Sleeping Village/Warning. This is a 15 minute jam of pioneering heavy metal and very heavy blues, it is amongst the greatest rock achievements I have ever hear and I have seen reactors to it in utter disbelief and somewhat shocked by the effect on your soul by Iommi's otherworldly playing. Enjoy! 🎸

I saw this Final Tour on 2016 on México City...! Tony Iommi is the Riff Master from the sounds come out of Hell...!! The Creator and Father of Heavy Metal....!!

Love your reaction to this particular performance. The finger tips story is correct, and due to that Tony needed lighter gauge strings and down tunings on his guitar in order to play without pain, which eventually created a whole new sound known as Heavy Metal

The song that created Black Sabbath. They recorded this song, then named the album Black Sabbath and changed the bands name to Black Sabbath (from “Earth” I think), and created a genre.
Happy to say, I saw them on The End tour, in Sydney, and they were great.

Saw them play this in New Orleans Sept 8, 1972 and again on July 25, 2013 at The Woodlands TX on their first US concert of the 13 tour.

That WAS NOT an audience member. IT WAS LINDA BLAIR, from the 1974 movie, called THE EXORCIST!

Never got to see them as Black Sabbath. Only as Heaven & Hell in 2007. Iommi, Geezer, Dio, Vinnie Appice and Scott Warren (keys). Didn't use the Black Sabbath name because Ozzy was not a member. You should check the out some Heaven & Hell live
