would love a vid on your current favorite keebs in each form factor: 60, 65-70, 75, 100, alice/arisu. I feel like a round-up vid would be really entertaining, lots of categories within each form factor to dicuss as well, i.e. material, mounting style, etc.
i think that would be good, because i HONESTLY think i am done purchasing for personal. at this point i've made some concessions in various form factors and boards just because i have other reasons to like them
Been waiting for a long time for you to make this video! Knowing how much you love the Kohaku, I was wondering when or even if you'd be picking up this variant!
Between the two.. I have to give the nod to Polyhaku for sure. The colors spark joy. Over time I will forget that the Aluminum Kohaku sounds better lol
I just can't let go of having an arrow cluster and 3-4 function keys. 65%-70% is the best form factor for me. Would love a kohaku. Also, imo the white gaskets do look a lot less apparent compared to the high contrast of the black gaskets!
yeah i used to not care but then i got into a position where i viewed a LOT of pdfs. and having one finger access to that made a huge difference i think the white gaskets look a little lighter on top, but it's so bright on the bottom, whereas black gaskets blend into the bottom a bit better cool to have the option though!
@AndyVNguyen I have mine on Alu, and I think they sound really good. I've also heard PC plate, or other softer materials, can be awesome for Browns as well.
And I just won a polycarbonate Kohaku V2 R2 and I am so stoked. Love your review - I will have to decide whether I want to keep the polycarbonate one or try to swap it with someone for the aluminum one.
Feels softer than pc forever to type on due to leafspring. Sound is probably higher pitched than pc forever. I’ll be building another pc forever on stream today so we can compare. Last pc forever I did I had reallllyyy light lubed inks so they were omega loud for some reason
HMX switches are all so poppy. I have HMX Swifts in my PC Chapter 1. And even though PC is deep. It’s so cool to hear the board sound so gutsy and strong with the pop of a high pitch switch. Easily my favorite one is the HMX Garnets from Swagkeys. So so good
It’s that pole bottom out man.. drives everything . I hear they’re working on stem rail bottom out full travel switches that should end up being less long pole sounding
@@AndyVNguyen oh interesting! I’d be curious to see how they fare with their blends and tolerances. I love the pole bottom out on the full travel versions. I get the best of both worlds. But I’m def curious about a traditional mold from them too
I was kinda excited for pc haku, but I prefer my alu haku for sound I believe. From what I hear on most sound test the pc sounds noticeably thinner than the alu variant.
when the sale happens (likely raffle), the units are already made. you are not waiting for 4-6 months for it to be made. so it'll ship to you within a week or two.
Big chonker that is.. lol. Kohaku is super nice. I’ve been around since its ideation but wasn’t a huge fan until I heard the first produced sound test lol
Yeah was super attracted to the design at first which felt different from the Keycult lookalike at the time. The kohaku weight is just too nice. Was so disappointed the first raffle; it's probably the one I had the most probability of winning one. And then all the positive reviews dropped so I was even more disappointed lol
Lol it’s a raffle.. that ships out. Can you believe we still do raffles for Gbs too? You win the chance.. to pay full price.. and then wait half a year
Hopefully I did everything correctly to join the next PC Kohaku raffle. Looks like it'll be sometime in March? How much does each raffle ticket cost and how many realistically are needed to even be successful?@@AndyVNguyen
i'm not sure how many restocks will happen but i still see unikorn and kohaku releases. i know there's at least one more for polyhaku instock but I don't know anything about after that

Might be the one of the better/best rgb PC boards available right now and c'mon who doesn't love the Kohaku, but this is a very different story than "endgame" Comments on a few of the downsides to this board - all are things that absolutely would disqualify it from being an endgame board for my collection: Gaskets - they're all silicone, why don't they do clear/translucent gaskets?! Seems like a no-brainer on a board like this. Also something like gasket "beans" would be less visible Frame bend - there's a reason why other keyboards have more than 4 screws. I'd much rather have a couple more screws to deal with every time than have the frame flex like that Top/bottom board color difference - this should have been noticed in pre-production units. All they have to do is adjust the inner bezel depth a bit on either the top or bottom case
They’re poron, which isn’t silicone Also it’s not necessarily a color difference, it’s how the mounting is designed. It’s a hidden screw design so you can’t just make the top thicker and it’ll still fit The reality of endgame is that you like what you like and that there will never be a perfect keyboard
@@AndyVNguyen Ahhh, didn't realize they were poron, that's unfortunate I guess You're actually SO right about endgame though. If they're not "flaws" in your eyes and you love it, then that's all you need.....I have literally been in love with my Hope75 since the moment I first laid eyes on it - to the point where I honestly don't see any flaws with it at all. Despite so many problems with the GB including less-than-perfect machining I still love mine every bit as much. It's the one that keeps ending up back on my desk when I'm done building and playing with every keyboard I've built since
The problem with Kohaku imo is that it ONLY sounds and feels great when it's MX blacks on alu. If it's a different switch and/or plate, it just does not hit the same and it either sounds or feels unsatisfactory
I agree, when I ran inks and sp stars it didn’t BLOW ME AWAY but is still above average imo. But the mx black on alu is so good it can keep up with the nice fuller sound of TKLs. So if it’s gonna have one trick.. make it really good
I'm running Gat Raw's on my PC Kohaku and my wife runs OG recipe bcp's on her Alu Kohaku... We tried the MX black stereotype (no thanks to you Andy :P) but it just didn't hit for us.. I guess at the end of the day as overrated as the saying goes 'different strokes for different folks' and preference is everything.
I don't care for the raffle especially at the price of about 600 usd. I don't like the fact that I gotta feel lucky to be picked to spend $600 lol I'd rather go for the Baldr65 - their GB is running right now.

well you could always go for it anyway. worst case if you lose the raffle for pc kohaku, you still have your pc kage!
gmk panels looks so good here
Gonna be sad to.. never take it off and use it on another build lol
Hey Andy, what’s the best sounding PC keyboard in your opinion? Is it the polyhaku?
There’s pc top points too like pc gaf 910 that are pretty good too
Lets go Fuji 🙏 Both great boards, both look fantastic, but I prefer alu for sound. I don't really know where we go from here...
It’s the best implementation of underglow that I’ve seen yet, so it’s really hard to pick
Those white gaskets. Wow.
They're definitely something
ummm i went to the website and it comes out to 384.06 MYR. that's about $81 USD. Am i missing something?!
next run not live yet, there's like shipping costs and pcb only and other things. it's a bit confusing

If only one keyboard forever, it would need to be a 65, so polyhaku. The unikorn sound is louder and more fun though
