      I’m with you on that, what Magoo may have lacked in finesse he more that made up for in straight up determination and balls. RIP Magoo

    Thank you for a great video and piece of history! Watching Magoo ride, at the peak of his mad talent, just amazing. Gotta love the wacky music on the "pure action" bits 😁

      The kids today crown any loser a "Legend" today, (forgotten about in 2 weeks), but don't realize a Legend is remembered for generations. Like Magoo! :)

    Magoo! What a great spirit and morality he had. How many guys would take a factory Kawasaki ride in Europe, be told he was suppose to let Jobe win, and tell the factory to stuff it, give up his pay, and come back to the USA with no ride.
    That folks,---is called Integrity. Who has that today? Kawasaki (again) does not let their riders race the MXofN,---and nobody told them to stuff it. Eli, Adam, 2 champs, and they could not tell Kaw top stuff it. If I were another bike manufacture, I know how my ads in the USA would go.

    If these guys are racing the 1982 YZ250 with the radiator (first time in production), behind the front number plate, (and I see them here) in the Trophy Des Nations with that extra 0.6 lbs on my triple clamps for me racing the B class, was fine with me. It was a pretty good bike. Got great starts with it.

      "Got great starts with it."
      Now, that was my first year racing. Bought the bike used in 84. If you can read between the lines a bit,--------- you probably see how I did with the rest of the race. :)

    Never seen this before...and I've seen just about everything 80's motocross related .
    Thanks so much for uploading , it's made my day ....the Kraftwerk inspired music is annoying but you cant have everything 😁

    Man I love this track compared to the cookie cutter and easy FIM dictated national tracks in the USA today.

  • @EarthSurferUSA

    1:25 USA had teams race the Motocross Des Nations before 1981, for several years total I believe. But did not win, (never a top 3 I believe, and usually not close to that), until 1981.

    Magoo 2/2 what a rider what can you say

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Magoo did run #22 in the states. But 2/2 =1, and I guess we don't know that because our schools concentrate in skin color, genitals, and arts and crafts,----instead of the math that got us our pf poverty.

    • @gdv4612
      @gdv4612 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@EarthSurferUSA You obviously missed the math class, he actually won 4 out of 4 races both 250 and both 500's.

    The USA 81 win was probably seen as a fluke for most of Europe, (Not Pier Karsmakers). It was a "B team". In 82, I don't think USA was taken seriously, as we did not send Hannah, Glover, Ward, Howerton, Barnett, all the best champs of the day. These guys were new too. "Who are these guys!!?".
    I think that is when the world, (including the USA) really discovered the "depth of talent" in the USA. That was when the argument came about, "But one USA state can be the size of a entire country in Europe. I have run into arguments like that before in my business, where we had no advantage until we started winning. :)
    Today, the FIM runs our racing in the USA, babies our tracks, and we don't have the diverse talent anymore.

      Hunter and Jett raced in the Europe of late. Is that the reason they are pretty much dominating in the USA? (Jett is for sure). Pretty sure. Soon, the MXGP's will dissolve, and the rest will come over here because we don't have any other way of making money as a racer today. In advance: Welcome to the USA boys. Now, lets deport the FIM, tell the4 EPA to get bent, so we can grow the port again that once provided so much opportunity for so many people. :)

    Is everyone on a 250?

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Back then, there were 2 500cc motos (Motocross Des nations), on one track, and 2 250cc motos, (Trophy Des Nations), the next week (I think that was the time frame). Magoo won all 4 races, and that had never been done with that format.
      RC would have done it, but he did not race that format when he never lost a MXofN moto in his class. (Villapoto did beat RC and his 450 at the 2007 MXofN (Buds Creek Maryland), though on a 250, and beat everybody else from wire to wire too.

      and 2 250cc motos, (Trophy Des Nations), the next week (on a different track in a different country)

    If you listen to a modern racer today after riding a bike from that early 80's great era, (a factory bike. Not some junk), they will say the suspension is soooo soft. They are right, compared to today. We developed 12" of travel for the bumps that we let get big, (Unadilla back then anybody? Or the great sand tracks of Europe?), before big jumps were made, (SX inspired in the USA first, in the later 80's).
    The suspension today is set up for the massive jumps they land from today,---and could not handle a real hard pack, edgy bumpy track today, or even the braking bumps that they let develop a bit today. The suspension is stiffer, and they are 30% faster on the track due to the faster 4-stroke, (yea, tracks get faster when engines get faster), and they get bounced doing 50 mph.
    On 2-strokes, it was a safer and better racing sport. Remember the 3-wheeler and what happened to that in the 80's, (banned).
    Wait until 60 minutes, (the show that brought attention to Legislation), finds out about the injury rate today, and more deaths on the tracks across the nation. The EPA did it to us. Do we understand that?
    Thanks for the vid.
    Oh, the music uses instruments that take human talent to play,---so it is music, and not a "talent-less" electronic simulation of a human made melody. Oh. Along those lines, singing consists of a talented vocal range. Anything else is noise. :)
    Wanna slam 3 doors that make a different sound and record it? Somebody could make a hit from it today.
    I should have listened to it and not public opinion before I posted earlier. Bad habit I have. Sorry.

      OK, upon further listening, not sure if that is music. :)

  • @EarthSurferUSA
    @EarthSurferUSA 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Judging from the comments section, I guess I will have to turn my sound off, so noise we call music today does not lower my IQ.

    1:39 That looks like the communist nation with the first factory semi trailer, but it actually looks like a train car that runs on train tracks, (MX track near train tracks?), which was their favorite mode of operation when rounding people up for slaughter. communism never belonged in this sport morally, (because the sport is based on the individual). But it looks like today, telling us what to make and buy (4-stroke forced on the industry by the EPA and the like), that it has even taken over this sport.
    Now, who got a fun ride in that choo choo? See any blood?

    Trophée des nations 500 cm 👍

      Motocross Des nations = open bikes, 500cc as of it's late.
      Trophee Des Nations was 250cc, and added later.
      Come to think of it, 125cc was also added later, but I don't think it had a name.
