Good afternoon everyone! Update on Regina. She qualified & competed at 2022 USDF Region 9 championships at training level finishing 8th. The next weekend she was champion at 3’3” junior jumpers. Thank you Ryan!!
I am looking forward to Part 2, She is an absolutely stunning mare and I love a horse with a lot of spirit, especially in competitions. She will be magnificent once she learns how to manage her emotions in unfamiliar settings and to trust in her owner’s leadership.
She is absolutely beautiful and I think she is beginning to understand what you want from her and she is relaxing more she's very intelligent absolutely and thank you for repeating the owner's questions because we absolutely cannot hear her I'm sure we all appreciate that as we were only getting half of the conversation so thank you again ✌🏻

Great news Dawn! The tools we learned with Ryan are working! Regina is gaining confidence and connection. She will always be a dominant mare and I think every human in her life will need these tools to maintain leadership but we feel safe with her away from home and have tools when we need them. Woah, I wish I knew this a couple of years ago! This mare is very similar to mine. Now retired from competing but will deliver her second offspring in a week or so. Her first foal is one year old and like his mother he puts very much attention to the sorrounding. 🙏
I am in Germany. I love your videos and the way you handle horses. When horses here are nervous they can even do Piaffe on the hand. The way she behaves in the video is "a little bit" nervous. Thats the reason why I have a Haflinger. He just moves when its really worth it and he might not spend to much energy on other things...😉

I could of used this video when I showed Nova he was a nine at shows and home. HA HA At shows it was either blue ribbon or wanting a glass of wine when I got home. He was a real beauty. What a personality. I like your methods getting back to horse sense.
My comment on the small circle work (at all gaits). I was confused about this for a long time because of how it was described by different trainers depending on how they used it. Because the inside hind leg steps under the horse, it is an introduction to engagement. But because the haunches also fall out (do not stay aligned with the front legs as in a pirouette) it is also a source of disengagement. So it’s an intermediate movement that is half of the one and half of the other and is a valuable exercise for improving balance and connection in both a physical and emotional sense. It should be used with the discretion that comes with skill and experience. I’m enjoying your videos Ryan. They are a fresh take on horsemanship that may be safer for the horses. I would emphasize for your viewers that you have complete control of your emotions when you’re training. No anger or frustration. No fear. Limited humor as it is a distraction. All business. No confusion. Self control and confidence for a lasting impression on the mind of the horse.

Visible difference already in that short spacr of time. It's just about knowing the correct tools to use and with you having your wife doing dressage and being an equine physio you sure as hell know what's the best way to tackle these problems. The horse is beautiful and I'm sure with your help and the owners obvious commitment things will get sorted. Can't wait for second video. Wish I'd seen and been able to implement these strategies when I used to ride years and years ago. It would have been so much more enjoyable for horse and rider. This is so interesting! I love the idea that you must be your horses buddy when his buddies are not there. I have a mare that gets nervous without her donkey buddy. She goes from completely zen to time bomb especially when riding her. I would love her to just trust me...
I love true horse people, they never blame the horse and the horse always comes first ( of course everyone's safety is ALWAYS first) so the outcome is usually postive.
I had one of those 8/9 horses. You are right. She was a bit hard to manage but when she was all put together she was unbeatable. I had to maintain a very structured routine with her and she was fine but if not… watch out… you were in for a bad day.
I was so confused - they were standing next to this much smaller horse when they were talking. When they brought the mare out of the trailer, I was like, “Oh, ok.” Lol! 😂😂😂
I had a similar horse, calm as a cucumber at home or familiar environments, but his trigger was other horses running around (riding or leading him past a paddock of other horses was very dangerous!). Of course the answer was getting his attention back on me, and once he was really good at groundwork at home, the only way to tackle his issue was lead him out past paddocks of other horses running around. He would totally ignore me, turn into a prancing, snorting. rearing dragon haha. Lots of flag, disengaging, backing etc until I finally became more important to him than the other horses... he got over it but I still have nightmares about my time with that particular horse
I feel her I bought a fabulous horse he’s got every button his buttons have buttons but he’s just too strong for me I’m 66 years old in the arena he’s fine but on the trail he’s scary stuff I wish you lived closer because I need help

Ryan I love your videos and horse training. Hint for the Video guy…on shots like This take the camera off automatic on the exposure. The. Automatic light meter keeps jumping and changing the light. Set the light exposure on the Horse and Ryan. It will be less distracting.
Is it me or is it true that the more beautiful a horse is, the more hot headed they are! Its like they know they got the looks and carry a proud crown that's hard to know down a notch.
My problem is almost the same…but when my horse became tense and head high and disconnected then my heart beats are coming high too… so it’s difficult for me to reconnect….i think im a little afraid of him in these circumstances and when im riding im not feeling safe.
Where's part 2 ? ... I can't stand the suspense ... lol .. I really want to know how this went .. I have a similar problem horse ... getting ideas for strategy and tools from someone like Ryan would be a huge help ..

My thought would be to give the horse an opportunity to work off some of the anxiety and anxiousness when taken to locations away from home. Horses think, feel, need, want, are mentally and emotionally aware and without a doubt care about what is going on in their lives. Why can’t people understand that? I can see this horse is exceptionally well cared for - I am just suggesting to increase the understanding that horses are equally aware and respect that🤷♀️
That horse is freaking gorgeous and she has such an elegant way of moving. I'd sure go the extra mile for her! One question, did the owner do a drug screen when she bought her?
I thought that as well because she was calm leaving and traveling to her place. It could be new owner though that she hasn't connected to so therefore turned into an idiot at shows and traveling w/o herd buddies
I purchased her as a 4 yo after only 2 weeks under saddle. She came from an Amish breeder. I was not concerned about any sedation. She is super-quiet & lazy at home. I acquired my first Dutch-bred two years ago. They are much more spirited than TBs & quarters. I have learned a lot but needed more tools. The continuous horsemanship journey. Thank you Ryan!

my horse is a nutcase when heading back home when riding from the house and when he has to ride with a large group of horses. I think the problem at home is that he has finally found his safe haven and doesn't want to leave.
she is a young minded horse. shes going to mature slower than other horses. she just needs time to grow up. some dont mature physically and mentaly until they are 8 or 9 it isnt a fault in them. it just is. just keep working with them especially ground work. paying attention to handler and softening, suppling. giving them new experiences safely while building trust and helping them to have self control.
