    I picked up this exact model this week and am very pleased with it so far. I'm 240 lbs and this thing throws me around like I'm not even on it. LOVE IT.

      How it it treating you now? I’m thinking about grabbing one. It only has 5,060 miles on it. Any reliability issues?

    • @TheMightyLou

      @@monkeyplayer1 No mechanical issues at all. The only thing I’ve noticed, is that the bike doesn’t get the best fuel mileage. That’s probably more of my fault than anything. LOL. Such a fun bike with lots of pop!

      I live in Santa Barbara so there aren't too many good roads here. But it rides great in the twisties and changes direction easily. I'm from Santa Cruz and would love to rip it up there on the roads I learned to ride on. Thanks for the comment!

    What is your thoughts on riding position? I'm not a huge fan of sport bike riding positions because I came from dualsport bikes which are obviously a lot more upright. This spoiled me in the comfort department so now I can't stand being crouched for an hour at a time, but I still need my speed fix. I guess my main question is this. How comfortable is the bike overall?

    • @gripsanity
      @gripsanity  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The short answer is it's very comfortable for shortish rides. But riding position is a weird thing, the Superduke isn't very comfortable on the highway because you are upright with little wind protection. While a sportbike is more comfortable because you are more streamlined with the air leaning forward, and the wind that does hit you helps by taking the weight off the wrists. Thanks for the comment!

    What reliability issues did you get with the bike?

    • @zestyjobe
      @zestyjobe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was his roommate while he had the bike, it wasn't very reliable haha. The odometer wiped the miles back to zero one time, I believe he had an issue with a clutch bolt backing out, the battery always died, and a few other things I can't remember haha.

      @@zestyjobeI have one too and my gages went haywire right after I got it too. I think all European vehicles do not plate the connectors properly and this is quite common. Being a nearly life long BMW car owner I know how to deal with this issue. I use a corrosion inhibitor in all connections and that has fixed that issue. Specifically, there is a straight connector behind the gages that needs to be unplugged squirted with inhibitor, even WD40 will work but you will have to do it every year. I use something called AC51 and it lasts much longer. I've had my 990 4 years and I only did it once, gages are fine. If you keep the battery on a trickle charger it will last longer but I think KTM undersizes their batteries to save weight. I have a 1290 as well, same battery issue. I wonder if Lithium fixes that issue? The 990 is the canyon weapon, not many bikes can keep pace with it. Handles better than the 1290, 990 brakes are way better. ABS ruins the 1290 so bad it is really tempting to bypass it. 1290 on fast sweeping roads is more stable. You can go much longer on the 1290.

    You never made a video saying why the bike was unreliable!!

    • @gripsanity
      @gripsanity  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sold the bike long long ago. The clutch bolts hold the springs and clutch plates into the clutch basket. BACKED OUT. Meaning the bolts were grinding against the inside of the clutch cover making a TON of metal shavings. It was an issue that KTM was aware of. Luckily, the bike has multiple oil screens and filters so it didn't total the engine....

    Why would you call a motorcycle, let alone one named DUKE, a "she"? Never understood why Americans do this with their cars, boats, bikes or penises.
    Is it because of no sexual female partner? Or never growing out of secondary school immaturity, like. "I'm going to ride here today! Get it? GET IT?" ?
    I am asking seriously.
