DIY Tip: GE Profile Dishwasher Troubleshooting and Soap Dispenser Replacement

Our dishwasher was not getting our dishes clean, so I did some troubleshooting to figure out the problem, which was a worn out detergent dispenser. The video re-creates the troubleshooting and shows the actual repair, start to finish. This is a helpful video if your GE dishwasher is not getting your dishes clean. I used Appliance Parts Pros for the part, as I have in other videos. They are amazing and have very good prices. Note: I am not sponsored by them or anyone, so the opinion I give is my unfiltered opinion and I buy all of the products I use with my own funds, so this is the real stuff! The part was about $40 with next day shipping. The estimate for repair by a pro was about $275. It took me an afternoon to do it. If you knew exactly what you were doing, it would take an hour, tops. The numbers to do it myself made sense to me and I learned some new stuff!

#2 Phillips
1/4 Magnetic Nut Driver
5/16 Magnetic Nut Driver
5/8 Open ended wrench
Two thin allen wrenches
Putty knife

You might try what I did... simply douse the dispenser with plenty of white vinegar and let it soak for an hour. After one wash cycle the door was operating correctly again!

I agree. I could do without the spotting . Slurping and clearing of the throat.

You should 1st cut the power to the unit for at least 3 minutes as boards tend to catch static over time causing all sorts of malfunctions. If still no good then I would test and replaced

This is ridiculous! No need to remove anything but the outside door panel. No need to remove hoses or door. Two screws, slide it out, remove outside door panel, take out old soap dispenser, install new one, put panel back, slide in, reinstall mounting screws.
