    I mean, I get that the climate control is one click away and has to be operated from the screen, but there is such a thing as the AUTO setting, which, like a thermostat in your home, will keep the temperature that you set winter or summer. I set mine to 72 and never really touch it again, so I don't get the criticism.

    • @thebiggestoneyouveverhad
      @thebiggestoneyouveverhad 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a good point. I use auto climate setting exclusively when I drive because I don't want to have to mess with it.

      Exactly! Who the heck are these people that constantly have to fiddle with climate control settings while driving? Literally no one does that so why complain?

      Exactly this. Or even if you wanted to change the temp you could just ask the car by either saying the catchphrase and telling it a temp or like I do, just hit the voice prompt on the steering wheel and asking it to set a temp. You can even tell the car your hands are cold and it will turn on your heated steering wheel. All without taking your hands off the wheel.

      Exactly, I have a 2022 Golf R and just use the Auto. Also, the car turns on the heated seats/steering wheel automatically in cold weather on start up. In warm weather it automatically turns on the cooling. ventilated seats! I find the system to be incredibly intuitive and easy to use - after a short period of adjustment. Plus, voice control is also easy to use! BTW I absolutely love this car - a very mature and extremely quick drive - this is not a traditional hot hatch, but a truly great performance car - Which is exactly what I wanted!

      My 20th anniversary comes in in a month and just from watching reviews I can tell there would really be no issue with it like you're saying, it's not surprising that the car knows not to turn on your heated seats in July lol

    Are these things on dealer lots yet? I keep seeing review videos but there's not a single dealer, checked the 5 closest, by me that have any. Not just the R either no GTi's as well.

    I was watching the Topher and TH-cam autoplayed this. I didn't know it was a different channel. Lol. The Golf R is the king of the hot hatches today. Wow. That DSG is race car fast and I'm a manual guy

  • @shaglioni
    @shaglioni ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Funny, I don't think using launch control will do damage to that DSG even though it seems like it's slipping the clutch through the 1st gear. I am pretty sure many, many and never ending launches would not do damage to it. Unlike using the 6 spd manual.

  • @TRX25EX

    I would love to see you compare aftermarket audio systems vs stock systems, for example BMW B&W Diamond vs Alpha speakers, to see which is more worth it, spend on factory or spend on aftermarket.
    Also I appreciate you doing Audio systems tests, its helpful making a decision.

    They give you more options than you're prepared to learn in a day. The apprehension to learn the UI-some people would rather have fewer options and features, especially initially. Over the life of a car, I think most would be happy to have access to everything. Even though that means menus and multiple clicks. The negativity about the infotainment seems to be based on nothing substantial at all.

    Probably by having that kind of virtual and touch screen switches, the seats, steering, and defroster, maybe when is that cold, probably you won't have to set them because when you remote start the car it will automatically set them up for you, like my grand Cherokee.

  • @williamlong2682
    @williamlong2682 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Wait this literally just hit me. VW did the whole capacitive-touch-everything, no-buttons interior and downgraded the interior materials for cost cutting, yet the Mk8 is MORE EXPENSIVE than the Mk7/7.5??? I guess they’re just tryna buffer their profit margin smh.

    • @WrasslinKing
      @WrasslinKing 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I mean that's one way to look at it and I'm sure there was some profit margin discussions but I'm very sure the state of the world: pandemic, chip shortage, supply chain and inflation along with added "features" like standard sunroof" had much to do with the increase in price versus feature set.

      You get a bit more power and a completely redesigned (and more capable) rear diff. Also better brakes, heated wheel, heated rear seats, HUD, wireless charging and carplay/android auto.

    • @thebiggestoneyouveverhad
      @thebiggestoneyouveverhad 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not for nothing but, I think the money went into the engineering on the engine output and the new drive train. The torque vector in the rear is next level.

    I think if I only had this car for a few days I would hate the controls and if I bought the car I would hate the controls for the first week but after that you would just be used to them and the location of everything in the cabin.

  • @AB-nv7bz
    @AB-nv7bz 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Why does every reviewing do their best to make the infotainment look confusing?
    I'm sure they are all aware of the shortcut menu. If you like launching your car, you will make traction control a shortcut.
    Have you seen how complicated most launch controls are in cars with dual clutch autos? Half the time they won't work.

    Nurburgring mode isn't the most aggressive setting... it actually puts the dampers in one of the softer settings. But it's funny to see how placebos work.
    Also, use two fingers to tap the respective temperature slider for immediate access to the heated seat function.
    You can enable the heated steering wheel to come on at a specific temperature preemptively.

    All they had to do was update the 7.5 upholstery (Particularly taking off the Piano Black) and placing it on this shell.
    Simple...
    Maybe the 8.5 will be the proper one

    World most deceptive car brand.. My wife and I owned VWs. I had the Jetta Diesel and it was part of the emissions scandal. My wife had the VW 2013 limited convertible. This was part of a law suit for timing chain that came apart and busted her engine up. I loved VW but I will never have another one. Not a trust worthy brand.

    Nobody knows what freezing or cold really means, so don't say its "freezing" say the temperature. Unless it really is 32/0 Fahrenheit/Celsius degrees. Say the actual temperature. Second, get rid of that POV camera. After a minute, they become annoying, which is why nobody uses that perspective anymore.
