Another great one, Brandon. Very timely for me cause I just finished a book called Bible unearthed which talks about the first seven books In the story told by archaeology. Thanks again for your podcast.
The book was fantastic. It gave a complete story from exodus through Joshua on where these Israelit people came from and how the Bible is, was written more like a propaganda tool for Josiah, and then again for the priest, after the exile for the same purpose, based on what we can glum from archaeological findings.

Yes i wish i would have covered this one. Not only is it in direct opposition to the verses in this very book that say god wont do this kind of thing but the reason for all the batards is probably all the raping god is permitting as punishment!

I've always found it a bit contradictory to hear apologist claim that God doesn't violate free will, and then simultaneously hear stories in the Old Testament about God "delivering" entire nations to the Israelites for Destruction. How are we supposed to understand God to have done that without violating the Free Will of the people who he was having destroyed?
Precisely. One example i cut for time was from the verse at the end where god is laying out his curse. Part of which included that the fiancé of a man who sins will be raped. For god to enforce this punishment, he would have to force another man to do this horrendous act that in and of itself is a sin. Or is it not a sin if god commands it. Lol either way its absurd!
Great video man! I'm new here on the channel and i binged these secular videos because they're so great, it's so good to see the effort you put into them Also would like to thank you because i'm going through the process of deconversion and the first video i saw of you was the fear of hell one, which is definitely something i'm struggling right now, but those videos have been helping me to understand more about the process of how man made the Bible is
Love to hear that! Thank you for being here and for your support! So sorry to hear you're going through this rough time right now. The journey is out is very bittersweet. I think my main point in the hell video was that once you learn the bible is so manmade and untrue, it all falls away quite easily, so yes I am hopeful this series shows quite simply how non-divine these books really are. Reach out if you need anything, and again, glad to have you here!
Ok Mar, spamming every single comment on every single video with essentially the same comment is simply not any kind of real dialogue. I have yet to block anyone, despite all the horrendous comments i get, but if you choose to keep doing this, i’ll have to block all your accounts.
😁🤗🤗🤗 - It's adorable 👍 I have not a problem with that just because my Slavic tongue doesn't twist, so quick in a knot 😂 We have some pretty difficult words, too.😊
OMG, those yahwe's "punishments" for men be like: "you raped a girl? Well, pay some money to her dad 'cause he's no longer able to sell her. As for the girl... well, you can have her from now on" I feel sick. I don't understand how anyone can justify it.
The justification is that my virgin daughter is a sellable object. If she is mine and you rape her, then she isn't sellable anymore, so you pay me full price for the damaged goods and you get the damaged items. You broke it, you bought it. This is analogous to what happens if you kill my donkey at Leviticus 24:21. Can't justify it if we presuppose God is good and cares about women, though.
This is an incredible series on a brilliant channel. When I was very young, I remember thinking, “For a god that knows everything, he sure is surprised at the way humans act or turn out”. It was the flood story that got me thinking about it and I’m so glad it did. Although it would be decades before I became an atheist, THAT is what prevented me from ‘going all in’ to Christianity. This is why I admire those whose whole lives revolved around their religion and they still made it out. Indoctrination is brutal.
I'm a fresh Christian and I was told to read bible but I was also told that God is love. This was obviously not true but nobody wanted to talk about it. Then I thought ok, he was just. But then I heard those videos and I saw he's not even that. Also god of old and new testament seemed very different. Teachings were different. Then I went to the mythology and apparently Yahve and Jesus father are not the same diety. I still choose to believe in Jesus because I saw him in my dreams many times. But we should separate old and new testament
@@liepa7768 What if you had seen Thor in your dreams? Would you choose to believe in that deity? I’m sure you can agree that seeing something in dreams isn’t a good reason to believe it. If that were the case, I would be able to fly. I’ve dreamt I could fly many, many times.
Thank you! Far too many people say that the bible forces women to marry their rapists - which is just false -, when the actual rule is just as terrible in practice. Finally, someone not only doesn't misrepresent those verses (which renders the whole argument so much weaker as a consequence), but elaborates on how horrible that law definitely was.
About 'other' gods and idols, the way our pastor always framed that was that we (modern people) have 'gods' and 'idols' too. They are things like money or a car or a person even. Of course, though, that is NOT what was meant in Deuteronomy, but that is how he got around those verses. And at 27:39, I remember him saying exactly this kind of stuff. She was so lucky that she couldn't be tossed aside, that she could stay married to this awful person. Somehow that never sat right with me.
As a never-have-been-christian person this is like listening to a fairy tale bedtime story series. Fantastical, interesting, funny ... but never would I for a second think those stories are anything but fairy tales. I am pretty sure that's not your intended landing for the content but I hope you are ok if it serves also purposes maybe not directly intended. 🙂
Lol of course i am ok with that. Its the biggest load of bs, quite literally, ever recorded. Everyone should take them like you are. The only side part is how harmful these stories have been to people who believed them.
I like how you consistently show through each secular Bible study how YHWH violates free will. I was raised Presbyterian and never believed in free will. As an atheist I think , living in an democratic and market society, we have limited free will. It seems the Bible tells etiological stories attempting to describe how societies came to be through the struggle between humans attempting to exercise free will and God attempting to crush free will and manipulate humans such as in Adam and Eve and the Tower of Babel stories. The evolution of Sin is also interesting. I think it starts as a label for anything we do as morally wrong such as murder. Then it evolves into a label for a religious violation. People could be morally sinless if sin is simply defined: do not murder or do not commit adultery. However, people get stuck in a perpetual cycle of asking for forgiveness or sacrifices if sin is extended broadly to most actions. Turn worse, Jesus extends sins to thoughts. Then people can never win.
I beg to differ. All that happens is that people get brought up with the "sanitised", sunday school, pipless-cherry picked, rainbows and unicorns, happy-clappy comic book version. (So, no attention span required, either.) Nothing deconverts faster than reading the actual book and/or watching a Mindshift analysis.
outside of USA, i thought Trump was suited as an anti-christ. foul mouth, charismatic, deceitful, cunning, shrewd and popular with Christians... basically the opposite of everything a "christian" should be
I heard somewhere that if the Hebrews had left Egypt single file, walking to the promised land, the first one would have reached the promised land before the last one left Egypt! So the idea of them wandering in the desert for 40 years seems ridiculous!
Yes except 38 of those years were a curse for god to keep out the original generation but still the claimed size of this group in this small area with 0 archeological evidence is quite damning.
Striking episode!! I wished you would have mentioned the infamous passage where there is a remnant of the distinction between El and Yahweh and how El divided the nations among his divine sons and Israel was Yahweh's inheritance. Like he's their patron god just like Chemosh was Moab's or Athena was Athens' or Apollo Sparta's. A bit more of insight on that front would be great! Keep doing this series! I can't stop watching
Brandon this is not on the topic but equally important in regards to making you tube videos easy to access. I appreciate that you dont play background music throughout your videos as so many you- tubers do. The little bit of music at the end of your videos in this series is just enough and pleasant and not jarring . I think sometimes you tube presenters use music in the background because perhaps they lack confidence in their content. Your content is so fascinating and well researched that it stands on its own. The child sacrifice thing never made any sense to me. He hated it so much that he told his people to get rid of them all including those same kids whom he was so mad about them sacraficing. Apparently, his issue wasn't with child sacrafice, it was that they were sacrificed to the wrong god. It's offensive that those kids werent being sacraficed to me!
Having been through what I've been through and the Bible 100% condoning it is a huge huge reason why I can't stand christianity and I don't want anything to do with it. I absolutely love that you point this out and don't gloss over it like all Christians seems to.
23:54 "Please explain to me the logic (...)" There's your mistake, the same I've been doing for quite some time before finally understanding that logic does not have its place in religious scriptures 😁
@@MindShift-Brandon : "god works in mysterious ways" is a very cheap way of dismissing all sorts of inconsistencies that seems to work for many believers.

Hey! Done with the Pentateuch. Yes its just horrific. I too always think how on earth can any woman, especially, want to follow this obviously sexist god who thinks so little of them.
In many churches there's many single women for all kinds of reasons, but 1 reason that's never talked about it is that some men know that any woman willing following this religion must bat-shit crazy & stay the hell away from them.
Deuteronomy alone is reason enough to have nothing to do with this god. Christians rationalize by saying Jesus came to fulfill the law and only taught about love and forgiveness. Not true. Jesus declared he would turn family members against each other and his followers should abandon their spouses and children, basically a death sentence at that time. And then Christians question how atheists have any morals without God! My question is how do Christians have any morals WITH THEIR GOD? Sickening.
@rboland2173 Yeah, that didn’t work out very well for the death cult but, they keep moving the goal posts and making up justifications. Eventually I had to reject all that nonsense.
I've always considered Numbers to be the worst book in the entire bible, but you make a great case for Deuteronomy. So many candidates for most atrocious book ever, so hard to choose......
Brandon’s study of Numbers is one of my favorites. The book overview is a comedy Classic. Then he sums it up by saying the book shouldn’t be named for the census, it should be named for how many people’s lives God terminated 🤣
What do you think of the hypothesis that the book of the law referred to in 2 Kings 22:8-20 was the book of Deuteronomy, or perhaps an early version of today's book of Deuteronomy?
The Moses you never heard about in Sunday School After a military victory over the Midianites Moses is angry with his generals for bringing home too many prisoners. In response he commands genocide, mass murder of infant boys, child sex trafficking and enslavement: 17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. 18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves. Numbers 31:17-18 - King James Version
Stephen King is fundamentally too optimistic about human nature compared to the Bible. Sure, his books feature cosmic or existential horrors that inspire the broken and violent members of humanity, but there always good people that at least try to stop them.
I LOVE these videos!!! Off to watch more!! I can't stomach reading the text myself anymore I am so disgusted that I once ate, slept, breathed, and devoted my life to this most disgusting fictional character. So I am so very happy to watch your videos to still get the run down and you always shed a light of a different perspective I didn't catch. The story at the end about the woman who is raped must marry her abuser. This is beyond disgusting and ranks up there when a 12 yr old today gets raped and the Red states want to force her to carry a pregnancy to term is not so far from this. Dehumanizing! There was never any sympathy or empathy on how the woman feels in any of the stories of the Bible. To this nationality of people at this time, women were absolutely worthless and treated like animals. Unfortunately, I see this very attitude in my own 85 yr old father. The way he treats my mom angers me. The very fact he cannot validate that she has emotions and feelings because only HIS matter turns my stomach inside out. The fact when I speak, he doesn't listen for the very fact that I am a woman and therefore I know nothing although I am the 4-yr degree holder to his 0. It is because of this attitude that I grew up to be a strong feminist and independent woman who married a man that treats me like an equal human being, not their maid. I make more $$$$ than he does, I am in control of the finances, and makes sure things get done. My very existence is an offense to God - just as he and his "word" are very offensive to ME. I say this book and even God (if he were real) are the strongest cases for atheism AND feminism ever and every woman in today's modern world should stand up and subvert this misogynistic, sexist, and patriarchal society we were all forced to endure because of this AWFUL demeaning book. (sorry for the tangent!)
My personal favorite is Deuteronomy 13:7-12 Here God commands his people to kill their own brother, son/daughter, wife or friend, if they should say something as detestable as "Hey I think we should be worshiping Santa, because at least he doesn't enjoy killing people"
Right.. what about all those Christian children believing in Santa, like a false god... he see's you when your sleeping he knows when your awake he knows if you've been bad or good so be good for "goodness" sake. It's not be good for "Christ sake" cuz then the lyrics would have to be changed to "Ohhhh you better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I'm telling you why... CUZ I'M GONNA KILL YOU" Seriously those are song lyrics, check it out@@MindShift-Brandon

I think Deuteronomy is one of the most disgusting book in the Bible, really I don`t know how believers can get pass some of this stuff. Well many of these stories may be horrendous, silly and self-contradicting one thing their not is boring! I really enjoyed this Brandon.
Nah. Numbers and Judges have the grimmest and most depressing things in them. The message of Job ("Because shut up, that's why") isn't much fun either.
@@simongiles9749 Well I do agree there are other books with grim stuff in them but Deuteronomy is up there. Note I said it is one of the worst in the Bible.
Thanks for mentioning the bumbling incompetence and sheer pettiness of the god character in these stories, something Matt Dillahunty also mentioned earlier this week, but apologists seem to gloss over.
I used to think the Bible story was so beautiful, wise and coherent. Now, I think it's stupid that if perfect Adam and Eve who walked with God couldn't get it right, then how does God think their wicked offspring would get it right??? 🤔🙄
"The LORD your God had made his spirit stubborn" --- Are you suggestion that something other than Existence in and of itself determines cause and effect?
I need to rewatch this video at some point to see if he ever actually says "Deuteronomy". At least for the last half of the video, it's "Deuteromony" every time.
In the end, I cannot help but think of a little joke made in a play about a book that a reverend wrote titled "Cleaned-up Deuteronomy." And with that, I will close with my favorite joke from that play: "...[G]ive Vera Carp a call over at the Smut Snatchers of the New Order. She'll be running the organization until the Reverend Spikes gets out of prison."
@@MindShift-Brandon It's from a play I used to go see every year, up until the original actors retired. It still gets performed in smaller theaters (usually university ones), but for me at least, it is just not quite the same without then. Still, there have been some decent renditions of it since their retirement, and the very least, it is not likely to be forgotten anytime soon. Fortunately, I still have a video copy of one of their performances, and someone else decided that it needed to be shared... so I will too: th-cam.com/video/fBsawpzAweE/w-d-xo.html As for the joke itself, it is near the beginning of the play, and it is kind of hard to miss.
Well, i have missed the joke, evidently, since to me it seems completely devoid of humour... Is there an obscure reference to Polycarp, early Christian author?
@@ColinWrubleski-eq5sh I believe its intended to imply that if written today, even a cleaned up Deuteronomy would be banned for exhorting people to violence, racism, rape, and child abuse.
Far be it for me to defend anything in the Bible, as I really only enjoy parts of it in a mythological context, but I would say there is a distinct difference between him interacting with the dead and other bringing forth the impurities they've "contracted" from contact with the dead. After all, as a physical God he has slain, and I assume at least some of the time personally on the battlefield against other gods, he may have his own purification processes not worth discussing because they're not meant for us, maybe even something about a holy aura shielding him. I mean, there are a LOT of issues in the Bible I'm just saying that one doesn't really befuddle me.
26:56 I was told that Deuteronomy 22:28-29 was a mistranslation - that it was not about rape, it was about fornication. The penalty was a shotgun wedding.
This has nothing to do with the video, but as a 14 year old, I have no idea how this world works💀 and I used to believe in God, but I was following him blindly. Now I'm an agnostic cause I'm so so confused at this point. And it's at the basis Adam and eve. So the garden was God's place right? And there's an argument that it wasn't actually a snake, but that it was satan disguising himself as a snake. But my thing is, how could Satan get into the garden of eden? Ain't no way the angels letting him through, and there's no way God didn't know that it wasn't Satan and just a snake, because then that would imply that God is not an all knowing being, when he is. So then the argument is THEN that God let Satan in to test Adam and eve, but THEN, God then had to know that they were going to fail, so then if he knew that, why was eve still punished for failing when he knew that was going to happen anyway?? I'm not sure I'm an atheist atp, but like I don't know anymore

I have yet to read the full scripture. I like to look at different scholors takes. So i dont get a single echo chamber. 😅 Im a christian. I believe in christ. And whats interesting is his message is far more beautiful He simplifies the law and brings it so much more. The sermon. Made inner evil important. He made are defilment something we do or say or think. Not eating a pig nothing that goes into u can defile u Christs message is beautiful. The law hinges on love god and love each other. Dont bite or hurt each other. Youve heard it said to hate your enimeis But i say to pray for them. He forgave the theif on the cross the women at the well. He washed his childrens feet. Wiped tears away 😢 Even if huge portions of the o.t. are screwed. Christ teaches a whole other message Also look at the lord. What did he do with cain. No one will kill you for the one who does will recieve seven times punishment Vengence is the lords. Aka not ours. Ya😅 When u see the sheer volume of instances of forgiveness in areas of o.t. and then the instances in the law where there is disaster. Chaos creulty. By us commanded by the lord. Its itself strange. I do believe there are instances where the sluaghter may well have been justified. Not all. The flood for instance. Violence was everywhere. For all we know people were probably sluaghtering each other. The greek parrellel for instance. The flood was due to widspread canibalism. That may well have been a piece of the noah narrative. There may not have been many children. Same with destroying places engaged with human sacrifice. Now the women and children especially those not engaged in it. 😅 possible victims themselves even. Does seem very strange out of character I doubt everyone were guilty there may well have been many imprisoned victims. Who could say But what is also interesting is deutronomy seems to concentrate temple worship. But the prohets they were worshipping at man made alters in wilderness. ? The prohets were killed. Jerimiah says that. Rebuild the high place alters? Theres translation that suggests god did not rejoice in sacrifice or festival. Granted this has alot to do with doing so in false spirit. So there may be allowance here becuase after all genises implies otherwise But whats more its said that the law was made into a lie i believe in Jerimiah Christ says the scribes and priests killed the prophets. And that they made the law a lie. Would these priests known by christ to be the synogouge of satan corrupting the law. Adding extra burdens. Would they just say random rules. 🤔 would it stop at talmud Or would these priests be bold enouph to add to the scripture. For power What if these potential issues are meant to be there

And not just that once by any stretch

I'm new here on the channel and i binged these secular videos because they're so great, it's so good to see the effort you put into them
Also would like to thank you because i'm going through the process of deconversion and the first video i saw of you was the fear of hell one, which is definitely something i'm struggling right now, but those videos have been helping me to understand more about the process of how man made the Bible is
Love to hear that!
Well done! I love this series more than anything else out there right now!
Oh man, great to hear. Thank you!
Ok Mar, spamming every single comment on every single video with essentially the same comment is simply not any kind of real dialogue. I have yet to block anyone, despite all the horrendous comments i get, but if you choose to keep doing this, i’ll have to block all your accounts.

I've been waiting for this one just because of the way you pronounce Deuteronomy
lol, yup, its a struggle.
@@MindShift-Brandon mostly joking with you, at least it's over now. You never have to say that word ever again lol

I thought I was mishearing things, but he really does say Deutoromony?
😁🤗🤗🤗 - It's adorable 👍
I have not a problem with that just because my Slavic tongue doesn't twist, so quick in a knot 😂
We have some pretty difficult words, too.😊
OMG, those yahwe's "punishments" for men be like: "you raped a girl? Well, pay some money to her dad 'cause he's no longer able to sell her. As for the girl... well, you can have her from now on"
I feel sick.
I don't understand how anyone can justify it.
Yes. Its insane
This is why I’m eternally grateful to be a woman TODAY rather than any time before. That’s terrifying to contemplate.
@@Vyndora yeah, same here. I acknowledge how freakin lucky I am.
Don't forget, Yahweh demands and accepts human sacrifice in 2 Samuel 21.
Yup. Hes a big fan. We have jeptha coming up next book too
This is an incredible series on a brilliant channel.
Always so kind! thank you, Lori. Brutal indeed, and a great thought. His surprise always caught me off guard.
Glad to hear. Thanks for shining a light!
Thanks so much for putting this series together. I haven't heard anything so coherent, succinct and comprehensive on the pentateuch.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for that
I listen to your videos repeatedly while working doubles. Your one about Job is my absolute favorite. Keep up the good content.
Oh man. Thats awesome to hear. Thanks very much!
I'd have zero issue with the Bible if people viewed it the way they view the MCU. The problem is when it is taken literally.
Really enjoying this series! 😊 Well done!
So glad to hear it. Thanks for watching them!
Finally got to watch this. What a great summary of all the inconsistencies that are found in this book. Especially compared with the other 4 books.
Thanks, Chas. Its a wild ride for sure!
Can never win is right! Just a petty and vindictive god. Thanks for watching.
Been binging your content since I discovered your channel yesterday. To summarise how I feel about it: I LOVE YOU!! #FromZambia❤
Appreciate that so very much! Welcome to the family!
Not the kind of stories you want young children to be exposed to. Definitely belongs in the list of banned books. ;)
The fact any christian parent is comfortable with the bible around their children, now blows my mind.
I beg to differ. All that happens is that people get brought up with the "sanitised", sunday school, pipless-cherry picked, rainbows and unicorns, happy-clappy comic book version. (So, no attention span required, either.)
Nothing deconverts faster than reading the actual book and/or watching a Mindshift analysis.
I am also surprised he said it was a straight face😂
Very professional production, good clear audio, tight script format. Looking forward to seeing your progress in this endeavor
Appreciate that. Thanks for the kind feedback!
With all the narcissism going on in the Bible I'm starting to understand why so many Christians thought Donald Trump was the next Jesus😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
outside of USA, i thought Trump was suited as an anti-christ. foul mouth, charismatic, deceitful, cunning, shrewd and popular with Christians...
basically the opposite of everything a "christian" should be
It's true! Christianity has believers prepped to love despots.
Funny how otherwise, they don't seem to actually read this "oh so holy" book. XD
I'll be re-listening this series in the future! Thank you again for sharing your thoughtful study. I am so much enjoying all the learning.
Love the passion with which you explain these books. Great work Brandon.
Thanks so much!
Thank you and i think you will love the new series based off your comment. Dissecting the divine. Episode 1 just came out last Sunday!
@@MindShift-Brandon Thx for the reply! I will definitely check that one out!! I'm fascinated by god's history and evolution.
Excellent presentation as usual. No wonder reasonable people think that the ancient god of the Hebrew people was evil much of the time.
Thank you much. And yes if this god were real, i cant see the debate against how he is not evil.
Plus I hate the way music is used in religion to manipulate emotions such as during altar calls .....
You have helped me today, Brandon. Horrible, tragic death in my family. I am hearing so much BULLSHIT now that my mind feels it will explode. I do believe these people mean well, but the ego and entitlement!! THEY ALL KNOW I don't believe that junk! I can't say it to them yet, but I will at some point. I just laughed and thought how wonderful to see and hear you to one of these after you had a few drinks...say at the beginning that you have had a few and are about to "go off'. Please dedicate it to me!
So very sorry to hear about your loss and the added frustration of well-meaning but ignorant believers. If i ever do one like that, ill shout you out ha!

23:54 "Please explain to me the logic (...)"
There's your mistake, the same I've been doing for quite some time before finally understanding that logic does not have its place in religious scriptures 😁
Ha. For sure. Just not sure how the believers continue to justify these things.
@@MindShift-Brandon : "god works in mysterious ways" is a very cheap way of dismissing all sorts of inconsistencies that seems to work for many believers.
@@gleidhold : indeed, I've heard that one a few times as well. I wonder why that does not work both ways though, if I'm not allowed to consider judge evil, what makes believers able to judge him as good?

Every time you say "deuteromony" I chuckle a little 😂 - slightly funnier than "DOOT"
and I am done, this was not a easy read to put it mildly. 28:30 like you mentioned was probably one of the worst but it had so much bad its hard not to want to lie down in a fetal position. and here I went and thought numbers was bad... this to me was way worse, and like you brought up 22:28, nice little loophole if you wanted a wife (I use nice highly sarcastic here), I just cant understand how any woman reading this want to follow this religion, especially now that they have a choice. also 25:11 that one is so weird and horrible. well enough of the rants, thank you for another brilliant analysis my man :). hope you are doing well
Hey! Done with the Pentateuch. Yes its just horrific. I too always think how on earth can any woman, especially, want to follow this obviously sexist god who thinks so little of them.
@@MindShift-Brandon hehe yea finally done, now for the rest 😮💨
In many churches there's many single women for all kinds of reasons, but 1 reason that's never talked about it is that some men know that any woman willing following this religion must bat-shit crazy & stay the hell away from them.
excellent presentation ..
Thank you very much! Glad you enjoyed it.
Sickening.
Great response. Yes. Jesus is further proof of gods horrendous nature.
Its a toss up for sure. Id throw Leviticus, judges and Job in the mix also.
@@MindShift-Brandon Leviticus is infamous and a disaster lmaoooo. It has to be number one ☝🏾.
Brandon’s study of Numbers is one of my favorites. The book overview is a comedy Classic. Then he sums it up by saying the book shouldn’t be named for the census, it should be named for how many people’s lives God terminated 🤣
Great video, though I noticed many times, you pronounce Deuteronomy as "Deuteromony" lol. Still, loved the video.
Nice.
Thanks!
What do you think of the hypothesis that the book of the law referred to in 2 Kings 22:8-20 was the book of Deuteronomy, or perhaps an early version of today's book of Deuteronomy?
Did Bill & Ted write Duderonomy?
The Moses you never heard about in Sunday School
After a military victory over the Midianites Moses is angry with his generals for bringing home too many prisoners. In response he commands genocide, mass murder of infant boys, child sex trafficking and enslavement:
17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
Numbers 31:17-18 - King James Version
Overall, this was a very insightful look at the books of Moses.
Glad to hear it. Thank you!

Here we go!
Stephen King couldn’t hold a light to some of the things found in the OT.
Ha. For sure.
Never apologize. Loved it all and glad you took the time to do so. Thank you!
Would you like some cheese with your whine-?
Deuteronomy: God makes his creation great again....again.
My personal favorite is Deuteronomy 13:7-12 Here God commands his people to kill their own brother, son/daughter, wife or friend, if they should say something as detestable as "Hey I think we should be worshiping Santa, because at least he doesn't enjoy killing people"
Yes god is so threatened by “false” gods.
Right.. what about all those Christian children believing in Santa, like a false god... he see's you when your sleeping he knows when your awake he knows if you've been bad or good so be good for "goodness" sake.
The more of Moses I read, the more he sounds like a narcissist. At least, whoever was writing made him sound that way.

I think Deuteronomy is one of the most disgusting book in the Bible, really I don`t know how believers can get pass some of this stuff. Well many of these stories may be horrendous, silly and self-contradicting one thing their not is boring! I really enjoyed this Brandon.
Not boring is right! And yes its all quite inexcusable at the end of the day. Thank you!
Always my pleasure to do so!
I used to think the Bible story was so beautiful, wise and coherent. Now, I think it's stupid that if perfect Adam and Eve who walked with God couldn't get it right, then how does God think their wicked offspring would get it right??? 🤔🙄

I need to rewatch this video at some point to see if he ever actually says "Deuteronomy". At least for the last half of the video, it's "Deuteromony" every time.
In the end, I cannot help but think of a little joke made in a play about a book that a reverend wrote titled "Cleaned-up Deuteronomy."
And with that, I will close with my favorite joke from that play:
"...[G]ive Vera Carp a call over at the Smut Snatchers of the New Order. She'll be running the organization until the Reverend Spikes gets out of prison."
Ha. Thats a new one for me
@@MindShift-Brandon It's from a play I used to go see every year, up until the original actors retired. It still gets performed in smaller theaters (usually university ones), but for me at least, it is just not quite the same without then. Still, there have been some decent renditions of it since their retirement, and the very least, it is not likely to be forgotten anytime soon.
Fortunately, I still have a video copy of one of their performances, and someone else decided that it needed to be shared... so I will too:
th-cam.com/video/fBsawpzAweE/w-d-xo.html
As for the joke itself, it is near the beginning of the play, and it is kind of hard to miss.
God is good LOL 😅😅😂😂
Who says the bibles not funny?
Idk whether to give up because I've sinned too much or to just stop reading the bible and give up as a whole
Man i am so sorry to hear about your situation. The middle is the worst part and thats right where you are, but you’re asking the right questions. Don’t be depressed, don’t give up. Completely off topic, but I notice you throw an extra syllable in the word "every". My whole life it has been a two-syllable word, yet you say it with three.
Lol. I used to get scolded by my speech therapist for saying it like ay-vree so its probably just my stuck over enunciation from childhood ha. And apparently according to all the comments i am also butchering the word Deuteronomy. Not my day lol.
Deuteronomy*
Not that it detracts much from your wonderful presentation, but you have a tendency to mispronounce Deuteronomy as DeuterOMONY. Or maybe that's an acceptable pronunciation that I'm not aware of...
Lol yup! Always hated that word ha. Thanks though.
Really enjoyed this video but you keep transposing the "n" and "m" in Deuteronomy

Im a christian. I believe in christ.
And whats interesting is his message is far more beautiful
He simplifies the law and brings it so much more. The sermon. Made inner evil important.
He made are defilment something we do or say or think.
Not eating a pig nothing that goes into u can defile u
Christs message is beautiful. The law hinges on love god and love each other. Dont bite or hurt each other.
Youve heard it said to hate your enimeis
But i say to pray for them.
He forgave the theif on the cross the women at the well. He washed his childrens feet.
Wiped tears away 😢
Even if huge portions of the o.t. are screwed. Christ teaches a whole other message
Also look at the lord. What did he do with cain.
No one will kill you for the one who does will recieve seven times punishment
Vengence is the lords.
Aka not ours.
Ya😅
When u see the sheer volume of instances of forgiveness in areas of o.t. and then the instances in the law where there is disaster.
Does seem very strange out of character
I doubt everyone were guilty there may well have been many imprisoned victims. Who could say
But what is also interesting is deutronomy seems to concentrate temple worship.
So there may be allowance here becuase after all genises implies otherwise
But whats more its said that the law was made into a lie i believe in Jerimiah
Christ says the scribes and priests killed the prophets. And that they made the law a lie.
Would these priests known by christ to be the synogouge of satan corrupting the law. Adding extra burdens.
Would they just say random rules. 🤔 would it stop at talmud
Or would these priests be bold enouph to add to the scripture. For power
What if these potential issues are meant to be there
These "people" are evil and they've never changed.
Imagine if you got kicked out of every establishment in town and then blamed every one of them for being a bigot
1 Thessalonians 5:5 Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
Dude, you're jumping WAY ahead! We are still in the first 5 books of ye Olde testimony - STAY WITH THE GROUP!
It’s DeuteroNoMy
No shade, but I think it is Deuteronomy, not Deuteromony
I'm really sorry to nitpick and point this out, but I would assume you would like to know: you accidentally pronounce it deuter- OM-ony when the word is actually deuter-ON-omy. Small thing I know, but I figured you'd like to know
Petty
@@Larry30102 wouldn't you want to know? I only share with them because I certainly would want to know. I'm not making fun of him or anything, just trying to be helpful. Sometimes people mispronounce words- even people that are obviously extremely smart like him- it's not a big deal, but if you don't know you're doing it can be a bit embarrassing to find out later.
@@sordidknifeparty Maybe you’re right. It was a constant thing. When I was a kid, I used to pronounce ‘rattle snake’ as ‘rattle sneak’. Would get a bunch of laughs, which was funny. I just thought throughout the comments it just got redundant. Particularly after the numerous times he acknowledged it.
@@Larry30102 well now I'm embarrassed, I didn't see anybody else correct him. I glanced down through the comments to see and I must have just missed it somehow.
Lol no worries at all mate. No offense taken. And Larry, appreciate the back up. Its all on me for somehow never learning the correct way to say it.
Deuteronomy 28???--- Wait, I thought the Old Testament was just ancient history? So this just proves that some American or European actually inserted those verses. They're just too prescient to be original.
