I agree Clint, just be honest about the error and do what they can to make it right for both parties. As a businessman you know mistakes happen and you get to eat profit once in a while to be right with customer. I wouldn't ask another business to lose money because of a legitimate error but lying is no way to gain trust. If they'd just been straight, I bet you'd have no problem buying the side boxes. On the other hand, if it felt like a bait and switch attempt, I'd likely never darken their door again.
Clint I have been selling parts since 1989 and have never lied like they did to you, we have asked people to please work with us if it was marked wrong but if they thought it wasn’t right they got it for the price they showed us. I would have called the corporate headquarters for the dealership and told them the situation and how they treated you.
In my opinion Clinton you called it straight on that bed. Only thing I might have done different if I thought it would do a bit of good was demand to speak to the owner of the company as one businessman to another, or maybe set Bridgit on them!
Absolutely, what Paul K. said. Offer the dealer a chance to make it right for both you and him-split the difference and an abject apology or names get named and that he was offered a chance to be a stand-up guy or let the chips fall where they may.
Have to be careful doing stuff like that with libel laws. However, it doesn’t prevent us from figuring it out and just posting the name of the company.
For what my opinion is worth I think you did exactly right. you stated that they should not lie to you and you got the bed for a little bit more. Quite rightly, he would have felt shame, shame that he was forced by his management to lie to you. I think we all know that would NOT happen at C and C equipment. If anything you would say to your customers "Hey, we screwed up, we will make it right with you though". That is what sets you guys apart from the competition 👍👍
Become a truck bed dealer and sell them below what they sell for. People will buy from someone honest as you ,and you can install them.. Always enjoy your videos...Thanks for the hard work you put into them.
Kevin sure likes story time on Clint's dime! 😉 I appreciate your tact and approach to life. I sure hope those guys are watching and take a few notes from you and your crew!
Being a business owner myself and offering services, you have to go with your word. That's just as important as the work you perform. The customer shouldn't have to pay for my mistake. If it were me, I would've showed them the screen shot and if they wouldn't sell it for that price I would've drove on to the next place just for principle.
They should have honored the website price, they can’t use the excuse that the website wasn’t updated yet because obviously they can do that pretty quickly seeing on how they changed it when you were there. Mistakes happen but most reputable business will honor listed price and not try to lie about it.
Hey Clint, the easiest thing in the world to do is play Monday morning quarterback on someone else’s problems. That said, I would’ve handled that bed deal slightly different than you did. I would’ve started writing out the check, your time is more valuable, and while doing remind him of the several lies you were told and then ask him if he’d prefer to honor the 1st price & you’ll be happy to tell people about getting a great deal there, without telling all the details or would he prefer you to write the higher price where you will be sure, as a local business owner, to retell the story as often as possible with full details. If he throws you out you have enough documentation for consumer fraud. If he’d simply told the truth, admitting the screw up, as a business owner you’d you’d have payed a reasonable markup without a problem. And finally, I would’ve reminded him he’s spending far more in advertising to get people in the door. That guy was bending over to pickup pennies while $dollar bills were flying out the window with a fan blowing them. Anyone in your area that watches your channel knows exactly which dealer it was & things like this can go viral. But, you still got your bed & it’s on a sweet looking truck.😎 PS: If Kevin got a paycheck he wouldn’t need to launder money as a side hustle. lolz😂🤣
You did the right thing as far as it goes for maintaining good relationships with local businesses. Though they should not have lied to you. That is very poor practice. In Australia we have consumer laws which protect us against actions like those. They should have been honest and tried to work something out with you from the moment you walked in. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.
Hopefully that was just that one employee..my dad was a NAPA jobber for over 50 years we had a strict way of doing business and anyone treating a customer like you were would get marched up to the office and a check cut and send them on their way period. That kinda crap hurts a businesses long standing reputation.🔧🇺🇸 Truly enjoy your channel and all you do.
I would probably try to negotiate a price somewhere between the website price and the $4900. Gotta say I am impressed that you squeezed that engine in there. I wouldn't want to work on it, to tight for me. Sounds and looks good. Can't wait to see it painted like the Semi.
I hope your boys know how nice it is to have a father that loves to work hard and have even more fun. My father is great don’t get me wrong but he had given up fun about 27 years ago. Most fun he has is at a casino
Mate I liked you, and your Ethics and honesty after Watching That episode with Dirt Perfect and the First Dozer. I was Very impressed. Cheers From Australia 🇦🇺🇱🇷
Great video Clint. I loved story time with Clint. You should 've negotiated with the dealer, maybe split the difference or something. A nasty review will also help in letting other people know the dealer is dishonest. The performance looks great and sounds even better. Nice truck!
what a breath of fresh air someone in your position actually coming out and letting your watchers know how you feel about a dealer basically trying to rip you off or my take on it they didn't want to sell you anything sounds like they just were being total aholes in this climate with things being so hard business wise you would think that they would be greatly needed the business also they will know who you are with your business and channel and I thought it would be good for them to sell you the bed you like the products and then you tell your subscribers about how good it is and whare you got it from inturn they're getting plenty of free advertising which would have been great for them instead they have just shown how really unpleasant and unprofessional the company is you are quite right by saying how badly you were treated and I hope that it has a real impact on there sales love the truck can't wait to see the finished product and to see if you really like it keep the videos coming really cool 😀
You had all the info to make him give it to you at the posted price. The fact that he argued/lied to you about the price means I would have happily driven further to get a comparable bed from Anyone else. But only after the salesman was mechanicaly attached to the bed he couldn't part with You Sir are Too nice...
Clint, that OBS is sweet and sounds awesome as for the bed situation, me being for up North ( Maine) I probably would have gone to jail, can't & will not tolerate a liar, cheat, or a thief so I can't blame yah for not wanting to do business with those folks. As God bless y'all from Gaffney South Carolina viewer 🙏❤️💯
That's one bad truck. Great job!!! As for that dealer, I would have been super pissed. I can't stand to be lied to. He turned what could have been a good situation for him into a bad one. If he would have owned up to the mistake I know you would have negotiated giving him a better outcome, then give him a shout out on your channel for doing the right thing. Just bad business!
You should have taken Uncle Scott with you to pick up the bed. While they were arguing price, he could have made up the difference by filling his pockets.
Spencer nailed me on a spare tire. Brand new Diamond C trailer, went to pick it up, spare tire on the build sheet was in the tongue box where it belonged. Dude pulled it out in the midst of hooking the trailer up to my truck and said "oh, we forgot to pull that out.. those are extra .. happy to sell it to you if you'd like". It's not a big deal, but like ya say, kinda leaves a bad taste in a guy's mouth.
Call the dealership out as Dirt Perfect called your company out on the first dozer he bought from you. Look now your friends and he's bought more from you. Honesty is the best policy it hurts to be honest but in the long run it pays. Clint you and all the helpers built one awesome truck though. Honestly though about the story again call the dealership out they will learn something the customer is always right by loosing sales . Before you and Dirt Perfect Mike worked issues out he called your company out very understandable because I'm sure the dozer wasn't cheap. Do you remember all the bad comments that were trashing your company. You took it like a professional and made a bad a right. The same should happen to this bad deal you went through on the bed of the truck. Good work your awesome and a stand up guy. God Bless keep the videos coming.

I think you handled that really good he still made some money even though he’s a liar and you save some time and now you know what kind of person he is.
Think you did the right thing….although that dealer had serious issues! Would make me wonder about their dependability! If I was Zimmerman and saw this involving my product….you would get a call and an offer to make it right! Probably a free toolbox to just let you and your THOUSANDS of viewers know that we don’t condone those tactics! Great looking shop truck! Thanks Clint and Kevin!
In California you could call Dept of Weights and Measures and they would be looking at fines and would be forced to sell it to you at the listed cost when you walked in the door. That department is fast and getting results, like in hours. They didn’t lie to just a customer, they lied to a business owner who knows the rules.
Almost sounds like a BBB issue. I would've called the other dealer in front of them about another bed. Kevin gets into story time. Great video. Nice build
Had that been me I would have went on down the road. Not before I told him what I thought of him and his company. Had that been my wife she would have brought it home at the advertised price lol. There was a ad in the paper on new Toyota suv it was for a 2023 model. She goes to look at it and they told her they didn’t have that suv. Well she showed them the paper and he said no that’s a mistake that was suppose to be on a 2022 model. In the paper it had a number on it and it was for the 2023 model. Someone made a mistake. I am with you on don't lie to people. I don't want to cheat someone and can understand a mistake. Just say it's a mistake and here is what is needed to just cover costs. I will not do business with anyone that lies and you know it.
One of the best videos yet. Excellent coverage. Advertised price then not having it is just as bad but actually I guess would be the same lie. But when you said it was a really good price that was the first clue. Been there!

Awesome, Clint and Kevin, you two guys have fabricated a sleeper for the streets. I bet this rig would sell tomorrow if you listed it. As far as the bed goes, I would have walked on that pecker-head. Great video series on this truck build.

You did good. I would of the same thing except during the dealing I would mention it might be a good time to call the Better Business Bureau. And as always another great video. enjoyed it as always.
No matter what you're purchasing on a "good deal" sometimes the sales folks see their $ margin diminishing and they'll crawl through hot lava to cover their hiny. I'd ask to speak with the owner to get the resolution. MOST times they realize the SNAFU. 😁 After the test drive - we viewers should get to see the road test GRIN.
Clint I am old school and believe a man is only as good as his word. They should have just been straight up with you and said hey we made a mistake on the listed price. But since you are here what can we do to make this right.Instead of coming up with a thousand lies. That is bad business straight out feeding you a bunch of bullshit. I think it would sound better having you tell your friends that there was a price issue but then they made it right.Keep these awesome videos. Thanks
You're a good man Clint. They should have leveled with you and made a deal to cover their cost (if they could). But rightfully, they should have sold it to you for the posted price. The world is filled with people that look out for themselves. By you acquiescing, you proved to be the better person! Thanks for your good example...it's refreshing! :)
Roll Tha Coal! WHAT a BEAST! I see allot of folks looking forward to a Dyno Test... the torque output to all four wheels is what I wanna see! 👀 Looking forward to an AWD Demo, under full power also! 👏🏽 👍🏼☺

You and all your helpers did excellent on this poroject! Thanks for sharing. PS: I would have walked out, wrong is just wrong don't compound it with BS. I bet if that's how the usually operate karma will bit them.
Well, when you factor in the travel time.., I think I would have been pretty fired up.., but I would have probably done just what you did., because of the travel time. If that salesperson were a bit more of a salesperson, they could have/should have just owned up to the mistake., and maybe have pursed the “up-sale” angle., and talked to you about the purchase of those tool boxes., in attempt to cut their losses… It doesn’t really matter, for me…, and for you… the second there was out & out lying.., all bets were off. This has been a great build video. Thank you sir. P.S., let’s see a burn-off competition between this rig & Kevin’s shorty truck…, hahaha
On the other hand tell them p.o.s. wirin harness caused a fire that burned down your truck. Just kidding. I think you did well, keeping your cool. I have temper and have learned to keep it check. (Now that I'm 70+ and easily butt whippable.)

You did good. I would of the same thing except during the dealing I would mention it might be a good time to call the Better Business Bureau. And as always another great video. enjoyed it as always.
Much better idea than mine. Dirt perfect was interesting. He did not mean to do what he did. But it really turned out awesome for us.
Told them to sick their bed where the sun don’t shine. Thanks for the video guys 👏👏👏👏🍺🍺👌🇬🇧
I live in Florida where everyone lies and does sh*t work. Clint, you don’t know how good you got it!
Nice job guys, on the same page as you with the purchase of the bed. All they had to say the bed price was posted wrong.
I think you did the right thing. Like you said your time is worth something.
No matter what you're purchasing on a "good deal" sometimes the sales folks see their $ margin diminishing and they'll crawl through hot lava to cover their hiny. I'd ask to speak with the owner to get the resolution. MOST times they realize the SNAFU. 😁
After the test drive - we viewers should get to see the road test GRIN.
Thanks
Take a page out of dirt perfect book and blast them
Yea but being a business owner I see it from both sides
Maybe they will make it right with me first
Don’t like being lied to either! Pay for your own mistakes!
Yeah I would have walked out and said ✌🏻 olson!
I love your analogy and you are in the right to feel the way you do. I hate to be lied to
Roll Tha Coal! WHAT a BEAST!
I see allot of folks looking forward to a Dyno Test... the torque output to all four wheels is what I wanna see! 👀
Looking forward to an AWD Demo, under full power also! 👏🏽 👍🏼☺
I like the way you do business.... I also agree with you....
Awesome build on an Awesome Ford Truck.
What would I do? I’d make that dealer famous and name drop right now
I use fluid film on Hubs and wheel mounting points works well and you don't turn into the tin man when working on it later .thanks for the videos
It’s handy to keep rotors from sticking to the hub
If they wouldn't stand by their listed price on the internet, I'd get on the road to the next place - even if it cost me more money. I also DON'T like being lied to.
Special "K"is fur Kevin..
That's meant with love now don't get me wrong💪❤️
Me took my business down the road and posted there company name ever were with the story behind it…good job on the build 🎉😂
Thanks
My daughter and son in law had one installed on a Duramax 6000 installed. She's bought a few there. Hers was in stock. New beds are more money.
As a small business owner I have eaten the loss it's just the right thing to do
"There's One Born Every Minute".......P T Barnum

Loved the time with you all. ❤️ ! I enjoyed the video ❤️
Man !!! That is a Big time Truck ! I'm a Ford Man and I'd give you $50 Grand for it if I had it . Great job Brothers !
You and all your helpers did excellent on this poroject! Thanks for sharing. PS: I would have walked out, wrong is just wrong don't compound it with BS. I bet if that's how the usually operate karma will bit them.
I agree with you, get the boxes somewhere else. Thanks for the action shots,,
Thanks
Well,
when you factor in the travel time.., I think I would have been pretty fired up.., but I would have probably done just what you did., because of the travel time.
If that salesperson were a bit more of a salesperson, they could have/should have just owned up to the mistake., and maybe have pursed the “up-sale” angle., and talked to you about the purchase of those tool boxes., in attempt to cut their losses…
It doesn’t really matter, for me…, and for you… the second there was out & out lying.., all bets were off.
This has been a great build video.
Thank you sir.
P.S., let’s see a burn-off competition between this rig & Kevin’s shorty truck…, hahaha
I had a friend who had a 1994 Ford crew cab 4x4 non duelly factory truck
DANG that sure is a purty truck!!
That truck really hauls...good job
On the other hand tell them p.o.s. wirin harness caused a fire that burned down your truck. Just kidding. I think you did well, keeping your cool. I have temper and have learned to keep it check. (Now that I'm 70+ and easily butt whippable.)
that truck is geting nice⭐️ If I find some one is lying me right in the face, I will walk out spend my money in the next place.
