Considering the hardware limitations of that era, I think they did a pretty good job with this game. I've heard basketball video games are some of the hardest to program for...the rim physics in particular. Thanks for the video.
rim physics in 2d sounds like an absolute nightmare, I know very little of programming but I would have assumed that it would have been a probability calculation based off player stats and court location with variance, then whatever number that returned would correspond to a pre set animation (around the rim and out/in, straight net etc.)
This game was pretty fun back in the days. The bottom half of the court always felt weird, I think its the perspective. The short players always looked like kids or midgets to me.
