While I understand if I was a multi millionaire and only wanted to buy the best of the best maybe I would spend 5 grand on a watch box. But honestly even if I had the budget to buy a 5 grand watch box I could actually see myself spending 40 or 50 then taking the remaining 4950.00 and picking up a great vintage watch to put in the box. :)
How about something to demagnetize watches. Seems like it would be pretty important. Also can you recommend some specific brands like the Burgeon? Sometimes it's tough to filter through the crap on Amazon.

I'm no expert, but in my limited experience with simple bracelet sizing Wiha screwdrivers have outperformed Bergeon for me. They are my go-to brand for all of my precision dirver/bit needs. As for springbar tools though, Bergeon is the only way to go.
Screw drivers definitely need to be top quality. You don't need a full set unless you do watch service, you do fine with a small set, but don't save on quality. 10x loupe is for checking small details, but it's also good to have a 3x - 5x loupe which allows you to see larger areas of the watch. Binocular goggles are really handy for longer sessions. I spend most of my watch tinkering time looking through 3.5x binoculars. Small details I check with a 10x two lense loupe, but that is only for checking, you can't work using it, because it comes so close to what you are looking at. For more accurate work I use a 5x loupe attached to my glasses. That's a good magnification that still leaves just enough space to get tools in. ANd yeah, there's no need to pay much for loupes. They are so simple optics. Just avoid the very cheapest ones, their lenses fall off and the ways to attach them are poor quality.
Cape Cod polishing cloths for polished cases and bracelets are a must for removing scratches and hairlines. They work extremely well.
Yeah, definitively missed the most important one which is the spring bar tool. I have a Bergeon one which I love and can't live without it, and no, I don't think a screwdriver is a suitable substitute. It can slip and scratch your watch's case. And you also need to update this video, since the Timegrapher you show on the screen costs no more than 150-160 on eBay or Amazon. It can be found a little bit cheaper on Aliexpress. But I'm not sure if for 2016 it was more expensive. It might be.

Great video Federico! I have a travel watch case for carrying 2 watches which has a soft flap that separates both watches. I use it for one watch only and place the flap inside my bracelet so it protects the bracelet and caseback of the watch from getting scratched.

For traveling with bracelet equipped watches, use a pillow and put it in a camera lens bag, it's often in leather and soft inside.
Great information Federico, especially the tool recommendations. I also bought a kit and the pin clamp thingy broke the first time I used it. I'll definitely be looking at a set of finer tools based on your input.
I acquired a couple of big elbow tea boxes that have worked for years. My nicest watch is a speedmaster, so I’m not as crazy about damaging them. And one has individual compartments to separate them.

I have Casebudi watch boxes. They are round and very firm. They also have zippers.
They sell different sizes so that your watch doesn't move around too much.
I get them on Amazon. The quality is pretty good for the price.

I really like that alot of things can be found on amazon. Especially since it's very universal. I shop alot on amazon. So it was nice.
Me too found my amazing watch box expensive but so worth it.
You forgot a spring bar. I've owned several cheap ones and it's the one tool i have that DEFINITELY needs to be quality. cheap ones break constantly. For the number of cheapies i've bought i could've bought just one good one and been fine. But overall a helpful vid, thanks Federico!

The timegraphers (like what is displayed) can be had for under $150 on Aliexpress.
I use Bergeon tools. I also like iFixit tools. Both serve me well. The watch rolls I use are from Worn & Wound and can hold up to four watches. I roll them tight and tie them tight. I've had no issues to date.

Great video! I should get one of those watch pin removers. I have the cheap screw type. They are crap. Tech Swiss makes some pretty nice watch boxes.
Along with the accessories you mentioned. I think collectors need to also be apart of forums/TH-cam subscriptions. Knowledge is also a very important tool when to building a collection.
Also a bank safe deposit box. Don't leave the valuables at home.
Any recommendations on a high quality watch box in the $300-700 range. I want something in the middle of what Federico spoke about.

You can use a computer with free audio software and a cheap microphone to see the watch beats and the amplitude of the beats. In stead of the time graph this is a very cheap and accurate alternative.
Does your travel case allow the case back to come in contact with the bracelet? Looking back at your old video and hard to tell in that light.

Ultra pro playmat is needed. You ever change a strap and drop your watch? Hardwood table isnt kind.

I like the bergeon 3 lb sludge hammer for fine work. Dont forget the velvet cover to protect against scratchingthe delicate hammerhead ;)

Hi!. I recently bought the timegrapher you showed in the vídeo. The 1000 and is pretty cheap. around 150 bucks in eBay. And soooo easy to use. It is mostly automatic, but It helps have a list with as many different movement lift angles as possible.
That is the biggest problem tracking down correct lift angles for your watches. I can't find the lift angles for most of my watches so it is pretty disappointing.
I wish you would do close-ups when you do your watch check they're so beautiful but I always have to go to another website to see him up close I'm not talkin macro I'm just saying you know put them up to the camera channel is awesome

Watch auto-winders? Personally I don't see the need but they are popular. Opinion? Also, there are quite a few watch boxes with magnetic latches. Wow! The claim (probably true) is the magnetic field is low enough to not affect a watch...but why take the risk? There are some great watch boxes for under $50 on Amazon that have metal clasps and NO magnets....

Cool video. I recommend everyone just spend the $45 to buy a Belomo 10 triplet. I've bought cheap Chinese loupes before and they are trash. Spend the money to get a good one. Bausch and Lomb also make a 10x triplet but I prefer my Belomo.
Agreed with cheapo screwdriver kits being bad, but.. you know, I've had bad experiences with Bergeon too. Bought their standard springbar tool (fork on one end, pin pusher on the other, both screw out), pretty soon a problem showed up - the screw-in tool bits don't actually lock into the main cylinder! There's *nothing* to stop them from unscrewing as you're using them, no catch or friction or locking system at all. And the other issue, the pin-pusher end straight-up bent and broke whilst resizing a bracelet (iirc a seiko bracelet, so no big harm done, but still...).
Timegraphers - aBtW recently posted a 99-buck phone-connectable timegrapher from frederique constant. Is that any good? Because having an app interface to log the accuracy data across multiple measurements would be pretty sweet.

Sorry to hear about your problem with Bergeon. Did you contact them and ask them to replace it? Personally I do not like the 2 in one tools, they have always disappointed me.
As far as the phone connected timegrapher. I have no experience with it, but I do not imagine it is anywhere near as good as a standalone unit. I could be wrong though of course.
Hi Federico, naw, I didn't bother contacting them - too low cost and not nearly enough to be worth putting time into contacting, negotiating and shipping. I'll just look for a set of single-purpose tools instead, as you noted - better indeed to avoid the all-in-ones.
