I will never forget what he did for Milwaukee. Pitching multiple games on short rest in a contract year, and going the distance on several of those games was a privilege to watch. And I always told my friends who gave him crap for becoming a Yankee, don't forget that this guy won the game that sent us to the playoffs. All the respect in the world for this man.
We yankee fans love him. He matched every dollar they payed him with heart. A lot of guys come here and just cash checks, but not CC.

He earned the bonus. He knew he’d lose it by getting ejected but didn’t care and everyone knew if he didn’t get ejected he would’ve met the innings requirement anyway. He’s a borderline hall of famer. I think he’s in but it could be close. He’s got a good not great era and good win total.

CC Sabathia is one of my favorite Yankees of all time.
If he would have stayed in better shape throughout his career he'd be a first ballot hofer. As is he may get in. I'm not 100% sure on this but I think he's clear of any type of accusations of ped use, and that may help him get in as well, as baseball needs to continue cleaning up its reputation.
Big man is gonna be sorely missed next year. He may not have contributed physically like he used to in 2019, but his presence on the bench and mentoring the young pitchers was invaluable

TheGHunter ya but the point is that he didn’t reach that innings mark because he plunked the guy. So the yanks didn’t have to give him the bonus.

And in the end. Cashman gave CC the 500K.

Best glue guy of my lifetime. He would die for a teammate. The man gave up 500k to back up his own teammate. He pitched 3 games in a 5 game series(risked serious injury in a contract year) for the brewers knowing they couldn’t afford him past that season. He pitched with a dislocated shoulder in the 2019 cs trying to keep the Yankees alive and still hit 91. He made it clear that to take the ball and his jersey he’d have to have gotten every last pitch out of him and the legends last pitch was as memorable as his first. This nationals/orioles fan will miss you cc. Enjoy a hard earned retirement.

Not only was he a great teammate and an absolute workhorse and clutch performer, he was probably the most successful left-handed pitcher of this century so far outside of Kershaw....unless I'm' forgetting someone, but when you look at his longevity that's probably accurate.
