If he would have stayed in better shape throughout his career he'd be a first ballot hofer. As is he may get in. I'm not 100% sure on this but I think he's clear of any type of accusations of ped use, and that may help him get in as well, as baseball needs to continue cleaning up its reputation.

Not only was he a great teammate and an absolute workhorse and clutch performer, he was probably the most successful left-handed pitcher of this century so far outside of Kershaw....unless I'm' forgetting someone, but when you look at his longevity that's probably accurate.

He pitched 3 games in a 5 game series(risked serious injury in a contract year) for the brewers knowing they couldn’t afford him past that season. He pitched with a dislocated shoulder in the 2019 cs trying to keep the Yankees alive and still hit 91. He made it clear that to take the ball and his jersey he’d have to have gotten every last pitch out of him and the legends last pitch was as memorable as his first. This nationals/orioles fan will miss you cc. Enjoy a hard earned retirement.
He better make the Hall of Fame one day. He has a great postseason resume he won a World Series ring and was huge in the post season in winning that ring. Great regular season numbers. A great teammate. A great leader. He better be in the Hall of Fame.

CC is a warrior but he's had his day in the Sun. last post season, he looked as tired as a Lincoln burning oil and running on 7 cylinders. he's still a good pitcher but not the guy he used to be. IMO, he may still be a reliable middle innings guy
